Anybody notice significant lag on the android keyboard while it is horizontal? Vertical works pretty well and smooth. I turned off auto correct, suggestions and word prediction. Still runs leggy. Is it just me? Mostly happens during texts.

Is is possible for me to have a keypad style keyboard when I hold the phone vertical and then switch to the qwerty keyboard when I turn it to the horizontal? If so, how do I do it? I just find that the qwerty is a bit too small for my fingers when it's squashed up in portrait mode.

View 49 Replies View Relatedwhen i turn my phone horizontally the keyboard comes up with no problem, then when i begin to type on it the letters/words do not show up until i turn it back vertically and then i am able to read what i wrote. any ideas why this might be happening...or how to fix it? its a new phone i just got for christmas, and the horizontal keyboard only stopped working a few days ago.

It seems to happen more when I "flip" it open instead of gently sliding it but its also done it when sliding gently. Im trying to figure out if its hardware or some software. The only software I could think would do it would be pandahome but I dont wanna uninstall it and lose my setup.
View 4 Replies View Relatedthis keyboard is light years ahead of the default virtual qwerty.I bought the Moment for the hard qwerty and absolutely love it, but hated to have to open the phone for each and every little thing due to the god-awful virtual keyboard.Installing HTC's Touch Input was the best decision I've made. It's super responsive and typing is almost as easy as with the iPhone. I use the T9 numeric as opposed to the full qwerty. There's also a compact qwerty if that's your thing (Blackberry-esque)It's not on the Market AFAIK, but a quick google search will show you where it is. Even has a calibration tool!

It's not because I'm going in and out of service, as the phone is not moving, just sitting on my desk. No alerts or notifications are sounding, no noise at all, just the lights. View 7 Replies View RelatedRecently, I mentioned that I exchanged my first Moment due to a clicking noise that would occur any time I pressed down on the glass near the left side edge. I originally thought it was a defect in the glass area and that maybe the plastic underneath had cracked etc. However, tonight I realized the clicking noise is actually from loose plastic on the outer edge of the QK where the down arrow is and the Z key.
The two Moments I've owned each had this defect. I'd say it was just wear and tear except I've only had each phone a total of 3 days. I have my wife's phone as a comparison and her phone has never had this problem, whereas my two phones have and each of them were perfectly fine at the time of purchase.I'm not returning the second one unless it gets considerably worse, for now it's just a clicking noise that you can hear in a quiet room. I'm guessing this is due to the fact I carry it in my jeans pockets and she carries it in a purse, so there is not as much pressure on the phone.
I was just curious while using the keyboard horizontally why does it completely cover the screen? When I am typing an sms response I would still like to see the most recent text but it covers everything and also in browser and stuff it just takes the whole screen up. Is there any way to fix this and at least see a little bit of the top of the screen?

I expected the qwerty keyboard to have an audible click sound from the mic while typing. Ive read the manual and cant seem to find anything about this. As it is , the keyboard is silent while typing, is that normal?

This is typically not too noticeable, but sometimes it takes up to 5 seconds. Is there a way to make it so that opening the keyboard just resumes this phone already in landscape? Also, has anyone figured out a way to get the home screen to respect switching to landscape when rotated, like all well-developed apps do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI dropped my phone yesterday for the second story of my apartment complex. It hit the ground really hard, but landed on it's back. Everything seems to work perfect, except that one of the sliders (top keyboard slider) that connects the keyboard to the screen, bracket came off. A small piece broke off but it still looks like it can go back in the sliding area. Right now the keyboard is only sliding open from the bottom bracket.
I can't seem to figure out how to slide this bracket that's on the keyboard back inside the sliding area on the back of the screen. I have had this phone since it came out and I don't have the protection plan. Not sure if sprint will fix this for me and how much it will cost, or if I can fix it on my own or if I will need to buy a new phone. But this thing isn't going to last much longer with the phone only being held in place and sliding with 1 slider.
So despite the GPS glitches I experienced with my first Moment, this second unit is really impressing me. Everyday I grow to like it even more and I can't believe I almost traded it for a Hero!
I love the solid build and the ability to customize the phone.
I love the physical keyboard but also having the option of a virtual keyboard.
I love the thousands of available apps.
I love having a video recorder and camera in one.
I love the AMOLED screen.
Did the Moment 2.1 Update and installed the old HTC Keyboard and it doesnt work. Is there an updated version for the 2.1 moment?
View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone else noticed having a problem answering a call when the keyboard is open? My whole system lags and the screen and keys don't respond to answering the phone call. Sometimes I can finally answer before it goes to voicemail, sometimes not. When I test it by calling myself, the phone rings for the caller 3 times before my phone starts ringing, the screen goes dark, and it finally vibrates, not rings, but the time the caller has heard 5 rings.

I open the slide out keyboard and start typing an email, some letters (like C) does not type so I try a few times clicking the key and it types. then when I hit A the entire text is highlighted and the next character that I type replaces the highlighted text. You can imagine how annoying this can be. I thought I must have done something wrong and examined that the fn key was not pressed (cycled through it by pressing fn 3 times). No luck. I tried the same thing in 5 min and it all worked fine. I am baffled.

I would love to try out the Samsung Moment, but don't have the $$ to just go out and buy one.My hero comes with all it had when new, plus I have an extra battery for it I will add to the deal. This hero has only been used for about a week, and while using it, it "lived" in my Blackberry Tour holster to give it maximum protection.
