Samsung Moment :: Dropped Phone - Half Keyboard Slider Is Off
Jun 14, 2010I dropped my phone yesterday for the second story of my apartment complex. It hit the ground really hard, but landed on it's back. Everything seems to work perfect, except that one of the sliders (top keyboard slider) that connects the keyboard to the screen, bracket came off. A small piece broke off but it still looks like it can go back in the sliding area. Right now the keyboard is only sliding open from the bottom bracket.
I can't seem to figure out how to slide this bracket that's on the keyboard back inside the sliding area on the back of the screen. I have had this phone since it came out and I don't have the protection plan. Not sure if sprint will fix this for me and how much it will cost, or if I can fix it on my own or if I will need to buy a new phone. But this thing isn't going to last much longer with the phone only being held in place and sliding with 1 slider.

Mar 16, 2010Is there an application (or one in the works) that will allow us to apply a sound effect to the slider opening and closing? Maybe base it off of when the screen rotates + keyboard lights up? I would love to apply 2 seperate notifications. One for open and one for close. Anyone got an application like this in the works or know of one that would work on Samsung Moment? I know there is a notification for when you unplug the power, but I'd love to have 2 seperate from that for JUST the slider. I can't believe we can't modify seperate notification sounds custom without apps.

Dec 22, 2009I have found the settings to adjust the delay on the screen itself blanking, but when using the phone in the dark, the backlight behind the home, menu, back, etc, keys turns off too quickly. I might be reading and email and want to go back, but by the time I have read it, the keys are dark.
Is there a way to adjust this setting?

Apr 1, 2010I want to be able to adjust my UI screen on Android when the soft keyboard pops up.
So at the minute I have something similiar to the first picture below where I have and EditText at the bottom of the screen and when a user taps the EditText I want the same as what happens in the second picture.
That is that the EditText gets moved up and appears to "sit" on top of the soft keyboard, when the soft keyboard dissapears it should then return to its prior state.
Can anyone let me know the best way to approach and implement this?

Nov 12, 2009My phone is opening in my jacket pocket. Anyone else have this problem? I can hold the back and give the phone a MILD shake and the slider completely opens. Also if I push on the Magnifying Glass while the phone is closed, the phone has quite a bit of downward travel, but the other three corners dont...this happening to anyone else?

Jan 24, 2010Anyone having an issue where when you open the keyboard the phone just powers off and you have to reboot? It seems to happen more when I "flip" it open instead of gently sliding it but its also done it when sliding gently. Im trying to figure out if its hardware or some software. The only software I could think would do it would be pandahome but I dont wanna uninstall it and lose my setup.

Dec 11, 2009this keyboard is light years ahead of the default virtual qwerty.I bought the Moment for the hard qwerty and absolutely love it, but hated to have to open the phone for each and every little thing due to the god-awful virtual keyboard.Installing HTC's Touch Input was the best decision I've made. It's super responsive and typing is almost as easy as with the iPhone. I use the T9 numeric as opposed to the full qwerty. There's also a compact qwerty if that's your thing (Blackberry-esque)It's not on the Market AFAIK, but a quick google search will show you where it is. Even has a calibration tool!

Nov 17, 2009Recently, I mentioned that I exchanged my first Moment due to a clicking noise that would occur any time I pressed down on the glass near the left side edge. I originally thought it was a defect in the glass area and that maybe the plastic underneath had cracked etc. However, tonight I realized the clicking noise is actually from loose plastic on the outer edge of the QK where the down arrow is and the Z key.
The two Moments I've owned each had this defect. I'd say it was just wear and tear except I've only had each phone a total of 3 days. I have my wife's phone as a comparison and her phone has never had this problem, whereas my two phones have and each of them were perfectly fine at the time of purchase.I'm not returning the second one unless it gets considerably worse, for now it's just a clicking noise that you can hear in a quiet room. I'm guessing this is due to the fact I carry it in my jeans pockets and she carries it in a purse, so there is not as much pressure on the phone.

This is typically not too noticeable, but sometimes it takes up to 5 seconds. Is there a way to make it so that opening the keyboard just resumes this phone already in landscape?
