I'm going to do the Samsung Moment, but going to use MyBackup to back up my settings.
A few questions:
1. does it back up the call log?
2. does it back up SMS?
3. does it back up Google Chat content?
4. does it back up all apps? I have apps that I want restored but not to the latest version that's on the marketplace.
5. Do I need to buy the MyBackup Pro version, or is the free version sufficient for helping me through the Samsung Moment upgrade process and get my settings / content back the way it was?
I got a Samsung Moment about 3 weeks ago and I really don't do much to it, but today I wanted to transfer a file via bluetooth to my phone from my computer and it paired with the phone but it won't transfer it. For some reason, my computer was saying that the phone wouldn't accept those kind of files. So, I tried to do it the old fashion way, which is using the USB cable, but when I connect the phone to my computer, the computer won't recognize it. It charges the phone, but won't show the drive. Btw, I use a Mac computer. I wonder if it's a Mac issue or just my phone or every one's Moments in general?
View 4 Replies View Relatedupdated to official 2.1 update on Moment. Whenever I attempt to add contacts, they don't show unless I search. If I sync gmail, those contacts show, but then not even the ones I added manually show up, even by search. Maybe they were overwritten in the sync...o.k. So I add them again, they JUST DON'T SHOW UP. WTF is this crap. I like google and all but are we actually expected to only use gmail/google services to manage our contacts?
View 9 Replies View RelatedPhone: Rooted Samsung Moment.So I'm literally 6 feet away through one wall from a WiFi hotspot where I work. The campus is set up so that there is an unprotected WiFi access that is used for downloading configuration software. The other signal is protected and can be accessed using a common login. The configuration software is not needed if you know how to setup WiFi.
Here's the problem: the unprotected signal is the only one that the Moment will acknowledge, which is useless because it doesn't provide any internet access. The protected signal does not show up.Except when I use WiFi Analyzer when I can see both signals (which bounce around between 45 dBm and 60 dBm). I've tried to add the internet WiFi signal manually (WPA2) which is supposed to be a trick that works, but that's a no-go.Why can I see the signal on WiFi Analyzer, it be the same signal strength as the other signal, yet I can't see nor add it in the Android WiFi Settings? It's bugging the hell out of me.
I recently switched from a Treo to the Moment. Generally quite pleased, but the Moxier email client doesn't seem to be displaying html links at all.
Exchange mail on the Treo still shows links, so unlike some of the other posts, the problem is not with the corporate exchange server stripping out html.
Is there a setting in Moxier to enable links within email messages?
I have an .apk file (app) on my SD that someone gave me. Is there a way to get this on my moment to run?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to a rooted 2.1 system and all worked well for about a week, including use of the Market. But now I can't download anything from the Market at this point. I've tried every solution I've seen on this and other forums, but nothing has solved the issue. I've tried rebooting through recovery, pulling out the battery, starting Google Talk (apparently that helps with other phones), checked the 'okay to download third-party apps/unknown sources' mark in settings, and cleared the cache out of every application. I've uninstalled every application I've downloaded in the last 3-4 days.
However, I can't find the Market app to clear the cache - would seem like if I cleared the cache from the Market app, that might do the trick. I remember seeing it as an manageable app in 1.5, but it's not showing in 2.1.
Is the Market app in 2.1 hidden somehow? I've used Root Explorer, ASTRO and the stock apps manager but none show the Market program as an application.
Also, are there other suggestions I haven't tried?
The reason it's an issue right now is because I removed the mms.apk program (moved it to the SD card, but it won't re-install -- tried ASTRO and Root Explorer) and was using Handsent SMS exclusively for texting. But Handsent had some problems so I uninstalled it and was about to re-install it but now I can't successfully download anything from the Market. So, I have no texting ability right now.
I can't seem to get anything to download. Any clues?

Any ideas? I have seen some posts on a google site saying this might be related to google checkout, however everything there is current.
Here's one that I can't seem to find anywhere, even when digging. Is there an EQ (audio equalizer) app or tool for d/l currently on the Moment? I do like to use it for music, but as of right now my PSP sounds better, but i'd like to leave that at home when I head off to school. It's kinda clunky, and it'd be more desireable to only have to take one thing with me. Don't get me wrong, the sound is fine on the Moment, it's just..... not what I want it to be. I'm a perfectionist in almost everything I do.Is there an EQ app or tool currently available for download in the market? If so, what is it called?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was updating to Froyo yesterday but I still had SPrecovery installed and to get rid of it I had to flash the defult non rooted 2.1 which would reset my phone, so naturally I used Mybackup Pro to save all my apps and data. So I went ahead and got all my apps back on my phone but for some reason none of the free apps are showing up as installed in the android market. So despite having the apps on my phone the android market doesn't know I own them. Can anyone help me in making the android store recognize all my apps. I figure I could manually go and install all the apps already on my phone, but wont this take up double the space if I already have the apps?

I have Live Wallpapers on my Market, but when I download, they don't do anything; nor can I seem to access them anywhere (that I can find).

Is there a market app or something I am misssing that can 'beef up' the email app. I have tried all of the gmail reconfiguring to get some of the functionality, but good old yahoo bizmail has known issues that causes problems in trying to use gmail for yahoo on the phone.
I desparately need settings like a signature for my email replies. Google just doesn't currently work for me. Anyone have any suggestions? Probably my biggest complaint. Google is not my favorite for email, contacts, etc. and I am trying hard to use it as needed since this whole phone revolves around it, but its like take huge steps backwards in functionality and customization from my windows mobile phones.
I flashed my Samsung Moment (2.1) with Dream 3.0...everything is perfect but I went ahead and deleted google talk since I never intend on using it.
Well, apparently that causes one to not be able to download from the market. I can't even download Google Talk now to fix it. It keeps crashing when I try to download anything. I have Root Explorer and Astro but I don't think I backed up the Talk app. Am I screwed or is there some way to make this better?
Updated to Android 2.1 today and none of my apps are listed in the market that I purchased. Yes I used the same email address. Frustrating part is MyBackup Pro was one of them! So I can't restore all my data either. Anyone have any ideas?

How secure is the information in a world where we put a large amount of personal info behind google-id and password? This id and pwd is plugged into the phone for functionality. We browse the Android Market for necessary apps provided by complete strangers and click Install. We click OK when caution is raised, with unknowing consequences and taking complete responsibility for the installation. Am I justified in being paranoid with Android model of doing things?

But there has to be an update for google maps by now.We are at 3.1.2 i think.When i search for google maps in the market, i get everything but google maps.I was trying to get infinity web browser as well, and this never shows up for me. But it is in the market.Just as Google's website says that google maps is on the market, and they dont offer a download.So, is sprint/Samsung blocking stuff in the market? do we have our own special market or something? When I installed a new app it showed up right below google maps but still no sign of my missing apps.What's wrong? Is android market twitchy again? A reboot of the phone doesn't.
