View 4 RepliesI am sick and tired of deleting duplicate entries in contacts and calendar. There is no rhyme or reason. I get some contacts duplicated numerous times. I get duplicate appointments and my new ones refuse to link to the PC. I have tried everthing that two weeks of constant googling can come up with. I am sooooooo GD sorry that I purchased this POS phone and from my point of view the Android system is also a POS.
Next time I am going to finally bite the bullet and get an iPhone.
If anyone has something new please let me know what to do. I have deleted ALL contacts in Google. I have deleted ALL duplicate contacts at least a dozen times. The stupid system still adds, at random, duplicate contacts and tasks. The stupid phone has even linked contacts with no reason or input from me. The calendar has put holidays in numerous dates. Columbus day was in the calendar seven times when I did the last cleanup (I have done 3 seperate cleanups today alone). Independence day was put on both July 4th and 5th. When I deleted it from the 5th it disappeared altogether. I thought my old Palm Treo was bad.
I just bought the Captivate 2 days ago and this is my first Android phone. I have tried to sync my contacts and FB together (not all of my FB contacts as I have 500+) but just the main people I talk to on a regular basis and it has created duplicate entries in my contact list. I know this not an operating hinderance to the phone but it is just annoying.
What is the point of syncing when it just created more entries? It also has duplicates in the drop down to: part when I create a new text message. Should I take all of my contacts off my SIM and copy them to the phone? Is there a way to have one entry for my contacts including the FB pic? I am importing my contacts from hotmail to gmail now and hoping this might help.
Recently my exchange calendar has shown duplicate entries for the items. It started as two entries and now it is three. I have disabled the calendar for a week, but they showed up again after I re-enabled it. I deleted my exchange account on the phone and re-added it - no changes. How to get rid of the duplicates? I don't have an issue deleting the exchange account from my phone and removing any data files - I just need to know what to remove to clean it up - before I re-add the account.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else noticed a problem with Corporate Calendar showing duplicate meeting entries? Everything was fine until my corporate password expired. After I reset my corporate password, changed the Droids corporate mail/calendar password to match and now all of my calendar entries have been duplicated.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I had my blackberry, I had google sync and my calendar on my phone synced with google (and vice versa) now I'm on the Hero, I noticed any entry I make on the phone duplicates and appears in my calendar on the phone twice. But entries I make in google calendar only appear once. How do I stop this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently got a a Tattoo and it is mostly fine (apart from the ridiculously hard to remove battery cover!). But the thing that is driving me nuts is how unstable HTC Sync is. I have uninstalled, re-installed on the PC and phone and had to delete all contacts on the phone once to "cleanse" and still every time I go to sync my calendar and contacts something goes wrong. Duplicates contacts and calendar entries in the phone and and on my PC! My work phone is windows and active sync is a dream compared to this!
View 1 Replies View RelatedFor my application, I am trying to add entries without having a duplicate entry, and if there are a duplicate notify the user and have him try again. Using SQLite, which I know very very little about, I have tried these two ways and want to know which one is better, more efficient or a better way to develop it? First way:
db.execSQL("INSERT INTO " + DatabaseHelper.DATABASE_TABLE +
"(LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, RATING) SELECT " + latitude + ", " + longitude + ", " + rating +
" WHERE NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM " + DatabaseHelper.DATABASE_TABLE +
" WHERE LATITUDE = " + latitude + " AND LONGITUDE = " + longitude + ")");
Second way:
long id = -1;
try { id = db.compileStatement(
"SELECT COUNT(*) FROM " + DatabaseHelper.DATABASE_TABLE
+ " WHERE LATITUDE = " + latitude
+ " AND LONGITUDE = " + longitude)
.simpleQueryForLong();
} catch (NullPointerException e) { return -1;
} return id;
The first way, either inserts or ignores the values, I check by doing so, storing the row-count of the rows into a variable before the call, call that function, and then check its results. If the results is not higher than it was before the call, the insert was made ignored, prompt the user with the 'values exist' message. (Very sloppy, I know but desperate times calls for desperate measures). The second way, returns the actual count of rows that match the numbers I want to store, if the number returned greater than 1, prompt the user with the 'values exist' message. I have been going back and forth, trying different ways but I do not know how to set up SQLite to have UNIQUE pairs, which I was told would be the easiest.
I used to have a problem with the media scanner making duplicate song entries, only one would play and the other was invalid. For some reason that went away and now it adds media once and never scans again, so if I add songs later they never get picked up to be shown in the music player or winamp etc.
I found these tips:
go to application manager> all application and search
-media storage,
-music player,
-gallery application
and just delete cache and data and restart. It will solve the problem a it force to re build data base
This works still but it is a complete PITA because it resets wallpapers, ringtones and all sorts of other things to default and I don't want to have to do this every time I add a song. How do I fix the media scanner, does it even have logs or something I can look at?

View 7 Replies View RelatedIn Gmail I have my contacts sorted by groups, easy enough, on occasion I need to add a new group or move a contact from one group to another, which is easy enough using a pc and my Gmail account. However, I cannot seem to add new groups or edit existing groups on my Moment. I can see the groups, I can sort by groups, but I cannot find an option that will allow me to add or edit any groups. Does anyone know how this is done on the Moment? I suppose I could use the browser to log on to my Gmail account and change it from there but isnt that sort of redundant since I am on my Gmail account using the Moment? Also, maybe someone knows when Moment contacts sync with my Gmail why dont the contact photos sync? One more thing, anyone ever on a call and it goes dead and after a few seconds the phone rings with unknown in the caller ID. When answer it is some from my address book that should have appeared in my caller ID Anyway, now I have to quickly hang up on this person to call the person my phone hung up on to receive this call. Its like the call waiting gets disengaged and hangs up the present call to allow the new incoming. I also had this problem on a HTC Hero I had before I got the Moment also.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just have yahoo, facebook and Gmail synced, but some of my contacts show up 5-6 times and they're not from Gmail. anyone know how to remove them?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I add a new person to contacts, multiple duplicate entries get created. I've seen 2 to 3 entries for a new contact, and this has happened roughly 3 times since I got my phone a month or so ago.What's up?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI thought I understood that there was no capability to sync with Outlook via the USB cable so I imported all my contacts and my calendar to gmail and that worked fairly well. Except for contact updates being a pain.
The I discovered HTC Sync and installed that. The result was duplicate calendar entries and some, but not all, contact duplicates on the phone.
I deleted the duplicate contacts and re-sync'd so it removed those contacts from Outlook. Luckily I had just backed up my PST file so I was able to get them back.
How to delete all contacts and calender entries from the phone so I can try again.
I'm trying to see how extra information can be attached to contacts entries. Looking at the SDK reference, I stumble upon the Contacts.Extensions (http://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Contacts.Extens ions.html) and Contacts.People.Extensions (http://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/Contacts.People .Extensions.html) classes. Sadly I can't find any article about what theses classes are for and how to use them. My goal is to add a few extra fields to the contacts entries which do not fit in any of the current available field types (emails, im accounts, phone numbers, postal addresses). Is there a way to achieve this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have duplicate contacts from Face book, my phone, and Google. I want to keep Google/FB synced, but I don't want the duplicates to come back. I also need a way to merge the duplicates. How can I do this quickly?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have checked my contact and have no duplicates, although I did find some with linked contacts which I have since deleted. However every time I open up the SMS app and try and search for a contact it display each contact about 5 or 6 times. I have checked the people app and I am certian that there no duplicates. I don't use facebook so no contacts there and I dont sync gmail contacts. remove these duplicate entries
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm on HTC tattoo, and my contacts are duplicated on the people application. This is strange, as they all say phone contacts (thus aren't sim or google contacts or anything), but on view settings, it says I have 300 or so contacts which is how many I have if they were NOT duplicated. I have tried restarting my phone. For some reason, it shows fine then when it loads fully, the duplicates are back. I also noticed that only contacts synced with Facebook seemed to be duplicated, though not all synced are duplicated. I have attempted deleting one of two of a same contact, but this resulted in the other entry being deleted too.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOk so I accidentally imported my sim card contacts into my phone twice. Now while I have hidden the sim card contacts so everything looks ok on the people screen, if i go into a contact and look at what it is linked to there is 3 versions of the contact all on the phone and all just with the number. Is there an easy way to sort this out? or should I just delete all my phone contacts and import from sim again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am getting duplicate contact entries in most apps. I look in my contacts list, and there aint no duplicates at all. Nor are there any on my Gmail account. But when I go into chompsms, or handcent, or even ringdroid, it shows up multiples of the same contacts. Any way to fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody else have a problem when composing a sms that when typing a recipient every contact is duplicated (two of each) in the scroll list that appears? In the people app I have unchecked Google and Sim contacts so I am not sure why this is happening?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy new HTC Aria will not hide my SIM Card contacts. When I click the phone button on the home screen it brings up a list of my contacts and shows the phone numbers stored on my phone and my SIM Card. I have unchecked the SIM Card in the People application, but they are still showing up.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI got myself an HTC Desire the other day and so far I'm pretty much in love. However! In my contacts, I've got it set to only show Phone contacts, and I've hidden Sim/Gmail contacts. I've also linked all my contacts with their Facebook profiles. So in my contacts list (People), it's fine. However, when I go to messaging and start typing a name in the To field, there's a duplicate of everyone. As far as I can see, there's no similar "hide SIM" option etc for the texting/calling, so I'm just wondering how to sort this? I saw someone to try deleting all phone contacts and just using your SIM contacts but to be honest I'd rather not do this, since I like to just use my SIM contacts as a basic backup if you get me.
View 22 Replies View RelatedHad the g2 touch / hero for a few days now and love it but today I have a problem with contacts being duplicated in the people app. All of my contacts are stored in Gmail and there are no dupes but today all of my contacts with a facebook profile are showing twice. Also, and I don't know if this is related, the people app no longer shows any albums for facebook contacts although they are there if I access them through the albums app.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI just got my Hero. I used HTC sync to sync my calendar/contacts with outlook. Outlook has previously been synced with Gmail. Now I have a ton of duplicate contacts. Obviously I shouldn't have synced contacts from Outlook and just let them sync from Google. Is there any easy way to fix this and get rid of all the Outlook contacts?
