I have contacts saved on my sim and I transferred them to my phone but now it shows two of every contact. I was able to fix this on the contacts page because there is an option on what to show but when I go from messaging/compose/contacts, it still shows two of each. Anyone know how to fix this?

Facebook syncing to contacts was working great until tonight and it is driving me insane.I have two of the same facebook accounts synced.I'm sorry if this is confusing but basically, in Settings>>Accounts and sync: I have two facebook accounts synced but they are the same account.However, I do notice that the two icons are ever so slightly different.I am wondering if this is somehow syncing my facebook account through the app as well as through android.The reason why this is driving me nuts is because the accounts link to the contacts and for several contacts I have two facebook profiles synced, in addition to the phone contact, and gmail contact.This is really bugging the OCD-ness in me. Also when I search a contact to call or text for example, it might show one of their home numbers as "mobile" since it doesn't really know what type of number their facebook number(s) are.This problem started today when I shared my first picture through my phone onto facebook. I found it weird that it asked me to sign in again since I thought I had already done so through the app 'm sorry for such a long post, but I am wondering what I should do.Does this mean I should get rid of the facebook app?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this first question has been answered, but I haven't been able to find it. I have a Vibrant and a Mac Book with OS 10.6.4. When I plug in my phone and mount the SD card, nothing happens. I've learned elsewhere that this seems to be a problem with this phone and Macs and I've enabled USB debugging. That works, but for me it is not a proper workaround. Has this problem been fixed? Is there some update for either my phone or my computer I can install that would make it work like it should? Also, a question about my contacts. Like most, Gmail saves every person I email in my contacts. This is fine because on Gmail.com they're separated into "my contacts" and "other contacts". On my G1 I was able to only have "my contacts" in my contacts, but on my Vibrant it just threw everyone in there. I was able to get around it by saying only show contacts with numbers, but that's not exactly what I want either. Is there a way to tell the vibrant to only show certain groups of your google contacts?

View 8 Replies View RelatedSometimes when I launch the "Messaging" application, it randomly opens a random app that I have been currently using.
Sometimes it works and just shows all of my messages. This is quite annoying and this has happened to me even after several factory resets.
Am I the only one with this issue? I have searched the forum but couldn't find a related thread.
I'm def a rookie when it comes to all of this technical stuff. Look, don't judge me, I just wanted to delete all the bloatware on my device. Mission accomplished.Except for the fact that I deleted the original messaging software that came with the phone using Titanium Backup. (Which didnt back it up!) Everything was working well (I use Chomp SMS) except i havent gotten any texts all day and no one has been responding to mine. Which, btw, they do recieve, I just haven't been recieving anybodies texts. Can somebody help a brotha out?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI plug my phone into my pc using the usb port then it doesnt do anything so I have to hit the drop down menu on the vibrant and click "mount phone" is that correct? then on my pc it bring up the menu where it says "open folder to view files" ..I do that and then I open the folder "dcim" which contains another folder that says "photos" and I open that and it shows my pictures that are on the phone...Then I take the pictures that I want on my pc to my phone and drag and drop them into that "photos" folder and they go in on the pc properly but when I go to my phone and try to open them they arent showing there.

Before it was easy to highlight a typed word, double tap on the word, and then respell it or change the capitols. Now it´s very difficult to make that action happen and I find it easier just deleting the word and spell it again.
This is, for me anyway, less user-friendly than the 1.6 version! I´m hoping that this will be solved in future updates or if anyone of you experts out there have a solution. Changing to other programs as "handsent sms" is not a solution for me!
Just popping in to ask a quick question about Swype. I was with family today at the T-Mobile store (They're all upgrading to the Samsung Vibrant today) and I was giving them all an intro to Swype on the demo. Now when I was doing this I noticed that Swype on the Vibrant had a feature I don't seem to have on my EVO. Basically while you're swyping, say you swype a word wrong right? On the Vibrant you double tap the incorrect word and it brings up a correct suggestion list. My Swype doesn't do this. Anybody know if this is an option somewhere, or what I'm missing here?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have my phone set to display only numbers on the SIM (or only on the phone.. doesn't really matter) so that in the contacts app and the contacts section of the phone app I don't have duplicates of everything. However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIf you removed your acct for some reason you may find your phone unable to sync w/ facebook photos and available only for updates.
If this happens to you:
Go to Contacts
Click Menu
Click Add Friends
Click Facebook (not add account)
Check mark the friends you would like to add... IMPORTANT name spelling must be the same to go over without a hitch.
If the name is different and you've ALREADY added the facebook photo... Click on the name in the contact list. Click link... a suggestion should pop up. Select it.
I used this app called iDrive lite to back my iPhone contacts on it, and now when I use it on Android, they load just fine, however when my phone reboots. all the contacts disappear. However it doesn't erase my manually added ones. Just the ones I restored from that app.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy first Android phone, so please forgive my ignorance if any. Rooted Vibrant, flashed from stock ROM to Obsidian V4. I did a "backup current ROM" before "install ROM from SD card" by using Rom Manager. The process went smooth, but after booting into the new ROM, I found that all my contacts were gone. Sync with google account won't help because most of the phone numbers are not tied with my gmail contacts.
Now, I want to know if there is any way to extract/restore my contacts without restoring to the saved backup. Actually, I tried restore but the phone did not boot after restore. Do I have to use Odin to boot my phone to solve this issue? And even if I succeed, will I see all my contacts?
I sync my facebook account to my phone and everytime I add someone it doesnt update and when I re sync facebook it still doesnt update. is it something im doing wrong or they havent fixed that problem yet?

A friend recommended I download Handcent SMS, but I've found I like the built in Messenger a little better... with one caveat. Is there a way to filter the contact list to just contacts on the phone or at least contacts with numbers? It currently includes every single person on Facebook as well as apparently every person I have ever e-mailed with gmail over the last 6 years.
can any one tell me how to get the facebook pics as my contact pics? Ive had 4 diff android phones and they all did it as soon as i logged into facebook but i cant figure out y this one wont and i cant find the settings for it.
View 3 Replies View Relatedupdated to official 2.1 update on Moment. Whenever I attempt to add contacts, they don't show unless I search. If I sync gmail, those contacts show, but then not even the ones I added manually show up, even by search. Maybe they were overwritten in the sync...o.k. So I add them again, they JUST DON'T SHOW UP. WTF is this crap. I like google and all but are we actually expected to only use gmail/google services to manage our contacts?

Last night, I was downloading apps... after messing with Extended Controls, I noticed that my "edge" icon wasn't showing up. I tried switching my phone to 3g, and that icon didn't work either. I can make phone calls and stuff, but I can only use the Internet if I have my wifi on now.

But there is one thing that is bugging me.
When opening messaging and viewing a message and then pressing the HOME button. And after wards launching the messaging app again it defaults to showing me the last sms I have seen.
So I would like that whenever I launch messaging it would always start in the view all messages.
The only solution I have found thus far is by using a task killer. Which would auto kill 'messages' when not in use.
So I installed Advanced Task Killer and set it to kill messaging when the screen is OFF. But it just does not work.
I've been getting annoyed at being unable to assign my ringtones to my gmail synced contacts. Something that was a non issue on my old faithful G1.Samsung, it seems, has seen fit to screw with the contact management making it necessary to have a contact in the phone memory proper to assign a custom ringtone.I have found a simple solution. Download Ringo Lite from the market place. It will allow you to assign ringtones to any contact on the phone in a really simple manner and the app is free. It has other features like assigning rings to sms messages and stuff but I don't care about that or need that. But for setting ringtones it works just dandy.
