General :: Galaxy Note Gallery App Suddenly Has Lightning Bolt Files Appearing
Aug 16, 2012It happened today after I upgraded to the new firmware, 4.04 DXLR5.
Many strange files with an icon that is grey and looks like a square with 2 keyholes and a lightning bolt appeared in all my sd card directories when viewed with the gallery app. These files, when clicked, show a blank screen.
But these files don't exist when viewed with my other apps like quickpic and es file viewer, and when I view the sdcard on my pc with a card reader.
For example originally I had 49 files in my dcim/camera directory. When viewed in gallery, it says I have 114 files. When viewed in quickpic or any other app, I still have 49 files. I cleared data in the gallery app but the same problem exists.

Jul 6, 2010This is my first Android phone, and I'm fairly confused as to how I am to go about this problem. I've tried putting them in /media/audio/ringtones as well as the .nomedia text file solution, but unless I am doing something wrong, or it just works differently with this phone, the files still appear in the Music Player app.

When I open up the music player I see my songs but also sound files from various sound boards I have installed, as well as ring tones I have downloaded. How do I fix this so its just music?

Aug 16, 2013I have a few apps on my phone that allow me to choose a photo and then do something with it, e.g. editing. When I try to choose a photo, I used to get two options: 1) choose from Dropbox and 2) choose from Gallery. But at one point, I chose a photo from the Gallery and also checked the "default" checkbox. Since then, whenever I try to choose a photo, I don't see the two options anymore, it always takes me directly to the Gallery.
When I checked the "default" checkbox, I had assumed that there must have been a setting somewhere that would allow me to undo what I've done so that the Gallery would no longer be the default option and when choosing a photo, I would still get to see two options: Dropbox and Gallery. But I searched all the places I could think of and still couldn't find such setting. Where such setting is?
The phone I use is Samsung Galaxy S4 and the OS version is Android 4.2.2.

Nov 29, 2010Since I updated to Froyo when the official one was released for the UK my Gallery has been almost useless, it now sorts photos based on where they were taken which I don't want and it doesn't show any new photos/videos I take, possibly because the phone saves them to the external SD card now instead of the internal one. Is there anyway to fix this? I've looked everywhere for some gallery settings but I can't find anything, to change the sorting etc.. Or can anyone recommend a half decent gallery app? I just want something that shows the recent photos I've taken...

Feb 13, 2014I want to be able to pull in google plus photos when using photoshop touch and autostitch apps etc. But their import options only access local folders on my device. I can download individual photos one at a time to a generic download folder from google plus to use, not full albums. When I try to create a new folder in gallery, and move the Picasa/Google Plus photos I get a notice saying "unsupported file." I read somewhere that there should be an option in gallery that makes photos available offline, but I don't have that. Just basically trying to be able to organize and download my g+ photos for use with these apps, in a less time consuming way.

Nov 6, 2010I've just updated my SGS to Froyo via the registry hack but I noticed one small problem in the music app. Every last character on the album is missing (e.g. Pearl Jam's "Binaural" displays as "Binaura") I'm not using mp3s but flacs which may be the cause of the problem. I notice in Eclair that the music app does not recognize flac ID3 tags but in Froyo, it recognizes the album art and album name but not the artist. Great, but the missing last letter in every album's name is super annoying.

Nov 5, 2010My wife has noticed that when she does a text message, once it has gone over a certain character limit (which seems to be about 50 characters), when she hits send a message comes up saying 'Converting to MMS' (or something like that). On all our other phones, if you do a long text like this it just sends the message as mutliple texts instead of converting to mms.
What this means is that as it goes as mms instead of a text message, she gets charged for it (she gets unlimted texts on her plan, but this doesnt include mms).
Is this normal with the SGS, or is there a way to stop it converting to mms?

Very annoying, I have to keep turning the phone on all the time. No its not low batteries, I'm not that stupid. Haven't messed around with the phone at all, firmware or rooting or anything like that.
If their are other threads regarding Android crashing on a minute by minute basis can someone please link. And when I say minute by minute, sometimes it is that bad.
