Sep 14, 2010what are the settings do you have to change in order to completely stop any data connection? I have an unlimited data plan so I don't care now that there is a lot of apps using my connection, but going overseas soon, the roaming charges are really expensive. I found some settings (like sync) that I can configure not to use data connection but I am not sure if these are all.

Aug 27, 2010during music (mp3) playback, the application will close part-way through a track for no reason. It might happen on the first or the fourth track, but at some time during playback the music will stop and when I look at the phone there are no apps running. I've been listening to mp3's for a few days now and I've tried using both the standard Music Player and the doubleTwist player but I keep getting the same problem.
I've tried playing music from internal and external SD storages, and I don't have any other apps running at the same time. I wait a minute after the player stops before re-opening the player and playing the same track that stopped from the start and it plays through fine. I found a few posts that discussed music playback problems for the Galaxy S and other phones running 2.1, but they all seemed to relate to actual playback problems (i.e. brief silences or pops and hisses during playback) rather than the player itself stopping.

Nov 14, 2010Last week I was in the US and had gotten the AT&T pay-as-you-go sim. It charges 1c/kb and I thought that's not too bad since I *only* get outlook and yahoo email. Well, *before* I knew it, it sucked up $14.40 for internet access....Frantically called AT&T customer service and after a long wait, they told me that my device had access the service and downloaded 1.5Mb! I asked them if there was a way to turn off the GPRS(since I was mostly interested in their $2/day unlimited calling service) and they said they don't have a way to turn it off Tried a bunch of things like turning off auto-sync (in settings) etc...but STILL I ended up paying $40 by the end of the day!!
Is their a way to turn off GPRS completely and also monitor what applications are accessing the service? All I have to go by is what AT&T says at the website!

Jan 12, 2014I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 (rooted) running os 4.3
I trying to find a way to disable the lockscreen completly so I can use widget locker instead without having to swipe twice every time.
I have tried setting the standard lock screen to none but it still starts with the standard swipe lockscreen - I have also tried alot of different apps (noLock, no lock screen, etc) but none of them are able to disable the lockscreen.
I have also searched for solutions (here and a lot of other sites) but a lot of people suggest its a bug in os 4.3.
Running os 4.3 have succesfully been able to disable the standard lock screen.
HTC Desire :: Playing Tracks In Album Track Order
Jul 17, 2010I have now got Genres working in the Music player on my Desire but have hit a new problem. Track Order.
All the tracks in the folders on my SD card have track numbers, copied from the PC folders. This means that when I play an album on my PC it plays in the track order; essential for symphonies!
However in the Desire Music player tracks are sorted alphabetically; Astro shows me that the track numbers are there as part of the file name. I do not wish to created over 100 playlists.
Is there a way to get the Music player to sort tracks by track order?

Samsung Galaxy S :: Best App For Playing Music By Folder?
Jul 22, 2010I've tried MortPlayer. Mortplayer really stutters and lags (a lot to the point I thought the program completely stopped) while browsing for folders; once inside the folder, the player is fine though. Also tried Meridian and the program took too long to load; it is also not responsive enough for my taste. Basically, I'm looking for an app that can play music by folder - that is as responsive and smooth as FolderPlay on Symbian S60, or the stock player on SE UIQ. Off topic: Really like the Galaxy S' gorgeous screen but also regret getting it at the same time. I guess I have too much expectation for it. I mean with its high end CPU and GPU, I expect it to be like super fluid but it takes longer to start up and to make a phone call than the 5800. Will hard resetting the phone and installing less apps help? I didn't really install that many apps, only about 9 pages filled.

Aug 7, 2010I have a little over 20GB of music. I installed half on the players memory itself and the other half on an external micro sd card that has been inserted into the phone. Before transferring my music onto the phone and memory card, it was all under folders on my hard drived base MP3 player. I really like plug-and-play type MP3 players, non-Apple, and just simply had all my music in folders from A-Z and then the each different Band in a different sub-folder. I am not concerned with tags or album art. Since the phone comes with 16GB, I have to divide all my music half and half.
My questions are:
1. Is it possible to have all the music lumped into one like it was on my old MP3 player?
2. I cant seem to browse the music by folders. I want to have my music set up as 26 different folders from A-Z, then have the Bands seperated by folder WITHIN that folder
I tried downloading MortPlayer and Astro Player, but it doesnt seem to work right. Are there any settings on the phone to manage my music this way?

Nov 18, 2013I have a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, with a 64GB Micro SD card. I would like to play back videos I have stored on my SD card; however none of the videoplayers I've tried will do it - they all say the file cannot be played. The videos all play fine when stored locally, so I know there is no issue with the files themselves or the transfer process of getting them onto the SD card. Currently, if I want to watch a video, I have to use the My Files app to navigate to the file on the SD card and move it to the internal storage. This works, but its clunky and not very nice. Is this a bug feature of 4.2.2, or of my handset in general?

Set your ring tone as custom ring tone which is .midi file. Please note that .midi is default extension for custom ring tones for Android 4.4, .mp3 can't be set as ring tone (at least, on my phone).
For incoming Viber call: do not answer and wait for other party to hang up.
Ring tone continues to play even after disconnect, the only way to stop it is to exit from Viber (or to terminate Viber using Task manager).

Am I right in saying that all i need to do is select data etwork mode in the power button menu? Is that all I need to do? Nov 6, 2010I've just updated my SGS to Froyo via the registry hack but I noticed one small problem in the music app. Every last character on the album is missing (e.g. Pearl Jam's "Binaural" displays as "Binaura") I'm not using mp3s but flacs which may be the cause of the problem. I notice in Eclair that the music app does not recognize flac ID3 tags but in Froyo, it recognizes the album art and album name but not the artist. Great, but the missing last letter in every album's name is super annoying.

Nov 5, 2010My wife has noticed that when she does a text message, once it has gone over a certain character limit (which seems to be about 50 characters), when she hits send a message comes up saying 'Converting to MMS' (or something like that). On all our other phones, if you do a long text like this it just sends the message as mutliple texts instead of converting to mms.
What this means is that as it goes as mms instead of a text message, she gets charged for it (she gets unlimted texts on her plan, but this doesnt include mms).
Is this normal with the SGS, or is there a way to stop it converting to mms?

Very annoying, I have to keep turning the phone on all the time. No its not low batteries, I'm not that stupid. Haven't messed around with the phone at all, firmware or rooting or anything like that.

Feb 18, 2010This behaviour started some 2-3 weeks ago. I tried to analize what have I installed and only thing that looked like doing this was Wavesecure so I unistalled it (I had it blocked via autostarts anyway). But it didn't stop.
I'm actually not sure if it really sends any SMS. When I power on the phone and enter the PIN it shows me a "bubble" popup saying "Sending". None of my contacts reported receiving any SMS. I even tried to block "Messaging" from running at startup. Now it stoped but as soon as I start Handcent it shows the "Sedning" again. I tried to find any drafts that I may have left behind but I couldn't find any. Is there any solution to this? Handcent isn't the problem since I had it for almost 2 months without any issues.
I'm running II5, rooted.
