I'm thinking this might be simple but can't work out how to do it.I want to stop people that I e-mail in Gmail appearing in my People lists, usually when doing a search they come up. These people are often random people I don't want added to my contacts.I like to have access to my Gmail account on my phone but want people I've e-mailed not to appear on my phone.

When I'm sending a text, phone numbers from people I know on facebook, but are not in my contacts keep appearing in the auto-complete. I have fb set to only update information about my current contacts, but they still appear.

When I want to send a message, I get a mountain of address book options because my email addresses from my Gmail account appear to have automatically imported themselves in to my contact list (I don't recall authorizing this). Anyway, I want to get rid of them so I just see my phone contacts (phone numbers only).

I see that you select when inputting them but I imported my entire db and can seem to change them!
View 4 Replies View RelatedSprint guy told me that when I added a Gmail account, that all my contacts would sync to that, etc. Problem - LOTS (ok - most) of the info I have on my phone for my contacts/People is NOT synced to my GMail contact info. My phone went funky the other day so I went to the laptop to grab a friends phone number and realized it wasn't there - only her email address. I haven noticed this with most everyone else, too.I have read (and was told at Sprint) that at some point I'll likely have to do a master re-set and with the update coming next week, I want to make SURE all my info is stored somewhere.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI linked my gmail with my phone and ended up with so many contacts from random emails that its rediculous. Old craigslist ads are now in my contact list.I would like to have a contact with their mobile, home, emails, etc as one contact not 3,4 or 5.Also, I selected which ones I wanted before the link and I ended up will all of them.Finally, the people widget would be great if you didnt have to select a default action. I might text the same person alot but how do I call or email them from the widget if they have a default command?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an app where I want to list all phone numbers and the associated contact name.I see that there is the Contacts.People table for the purpose of getting all phone numbers and that there is a PERSON_ID to allow me to lookup the contact in Contacts.People.Great.Now I see that all the columns I want are already joined to the Contacts.People.Phones table. But that seems lucky in this case.How could I do the equivalent of the above statement in general if the implementer of the content provider hadn't been so nice as to join for me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Android, I have some code to check whether the user has GPS switched on, and launch the Settings for them to turn it on if they don't.However, I'm finding that if the user opens the Settings, turns GPS on, then carries on using the app as normal, there is an odd problem. Often, when the user reopens the app, the Settings are at the front. How can I set them so they don't keep reappearing?I wonder if I should be using the CLEAR_TOP flag or something similar.I've tried looking at the docs for the Activity flags but find them a bit confusing.

I now get my gmail in both apps, is there a way to stop the gmail from retrieving my email without affecting sync with contacts and calendar?
Can I stop the gmail app from running all the time if so how? everytime i check task killer i have both email apps running.
I have all of my contacts linked to their respective facebook accounts, but the pictures that show up when I go to my People never update with the facebook pictures, they have stayed the same since the day I linked the two regardless of how many times the person has changed their default picture since then. Is there any way for me to change this so the pictures in my People update with facebook? Since they are linked I assume they should be able to do this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone else find that certain contacts in Gmail do not appear on Andriod in the People app?I have some contacts which are in 'My Contacts' on gmail but try as I might I can't seem to get them to appear on the phone. One of the missing contacts only appeared after selecting 'Show auto gmail contacts' and when I unchecked this option the contact still appears on the phone.This problem also manifests itself when pulling in gmail contacts to Mozilla Thunderbird on the PC so presumably there is gmail setting I have missed - could this be 'display random contacts'
View 1 Replies View RelatedSeems that when I create a new text message and try to start typing a contact name, not all of my contacts appear. It seems random. I have tried restarting but say I have a Peter and Paul in my phone, if I type a P it might only show me Paul and not peter. Usually, is the same names that never show up they never appear or disappear. I'm not rooted and I have done nothing nefarious with my phone that may cause this.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had the Hero about a week now, and keep finding that whenever I'm in the dialler app, I press the big green 'Call' button by mistake.I don't like that the fact that it's highlighted as soon as you enter the app via 'Phone' on the homescreen, and it looks like it defaults to the last caller.Is there anyway to change this? Ideally I don't want it to be highlighted until I've selected a contact to call.

But, when I tap "phone" I get all those people PLUS everyone on my dang facebook. I didn't set it up like that so I'm assuming it has to do with either friendstream or facebook syncing. I don't necessarily want ALL those people in my contacts. Is there a way to change that?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI haven't seen anything quite like this and am unable to identify this issue on the open forums here so thought I would reach out. I do apologize if I missed it somewhere so if its out there please feel to direct me there.Picked up the HTC Eris about 2 weeks ago. I've started noticing a very strange issue as of last week. Using the stock messaging app I keep all my text strings with my various contacts. So let's say I have 7 different text strings in there now all from 7 different people. Now, for whatever reason, If I receive a new text message from a new person it will throw that new person's text into an existing text string of one of the other contacts rather than creating its own separate text string. Make sense? Just mixes it in there. So for instance, If I have a previous string from me to my wife it will throw a new text from my mom into my wife's existing text string. If I attempt to reply to that text sent from my mom that went into my wife's text string then my wife will receive the message. And its totally random. I've noticed this with 3 different contacts. So its just not one specific contact. And its literally like 6 or 7 people. Its not like I have a huge backup of text messages.
Now as I've mentioned its only about 2.5 weeks old. I don't throw alot of apps on there (I think I have 6) and I've rebooted this thing twice. I've taken it to Verizon and the guy there didn't know what to make of it. Said I might have a defective phone or possibly try a factory reset. He also mentioned waiting for the update and if its not corrected by then I can get an Eris replacement. Anyway, I wasn't ready to switch it out yet cause I love this phone and am hoping someone out there has maybe seen this issue and maybe can tell me what the heck is going on. Thanks in reading this and I look forward to any possible suggestions.
If I receive an email (use gmail) from someone that's not already in my contacts in people, is there a way to copy and paste or to add the address to my contacts in people without doing it manually?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have 3 Google mail accounts and I transferred all of my phone contacts from my Blackberry to my EVO. I see many duplicate contacts for phone and e-mail on my phone but for some reason they don't sync back to gmail. I'd like to merge all of my contact data and then have it synced to either my main gmail account or to all 3 gmail accounts (if that's possible).
All of my accounts are set to sync on my phone but the phone contacts don't seem to be uploaded to my gmail account(s). I figured if I get all the data there I can use the "find duplicates" function in gmail and merge all of my contacts data under single names.
I don't want my contacts to be synced with Google. IIRC, this was possible in 2.x. Having upgraded to 4.0.4, I'm not able to disable Google contacts.
I'd like to:
1. Disable contact sync (this works)
2. Change all contacts from Google contacts to phone contacts
3. Add new contacts as phone contacts by default.
Using the "Accounts and Sync" settings, I'm only able to deselect "Sync Contacts", but I can't find a way to move the contacts and disable the creation of new Google contacts.
I've seen quite a bit on this...but no resolution. My EVO is fine regarding the following...but my wife's is not: When I go to People (Contacts), hit the Globe icon for Online directories, then hit the Facebook icon (Facebook for HTC EVO) ...it is empty (You don't have any friends). Connected to that problem is the real issue: no Facebook link option for individual contacts (can't use FB photo or "View Facebook Profile" for that contact.
I've tried many of the suggested fixes...including removing and adding the FB program, removing and adding the contacts from SD card, rebooting the device. Also have been into "Accounts & Sync" and have configured everything imaginable with the FB account under "Manage Accounts".
In bettercuts i keep trying to make a people shortcut with a better icon. I go to the app and start to make a new shortcut. I go to activity and there are 3 different People app in there and none of the 3 actually open my contacts. I don't know what to do to fix it or do i just have to use the crappy icon for people with Bettercuts?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Facebook contacts are merging with my ICS "People" address book and Google contacts. I don't want this.
I opened the FB app from my Rezound (ICS) and looked at the settings. The "Sync Contacts" option is set to "Don't sync"
Then I looked in the Android Settings --->Accounts&sync--->facebook where there are three boxes, sync calendar, sync contacts, and sync live feed. I made sure all those boxes are unchecked.
I figured I'd just try deleting FB from my Rezound but it seems to be undeletable if that's a word. It's like standard bloatware that I actually use on occasion.
So why are my FB contacts still merged with my Google contacts? I am seeing my contacts with their FB photo and this drives me crazy. I don't want FB communicating with my address book. Gingerbread didn't do this.
