On my galaxy s I have an external sd card which i put a bunch of songs on in a folder called music. When I open up the music player I see my songs but also sound files from various sound boards I have installed, as well as ring tones I have downloaded. How do I fix this so its just music?

This is my first Android phone, and I'm fairly confused as to how I am to go about this problem. I've tried putting them in /media/audio/ringtones as well as the .nomedia text file solution, but unless I am doing something wrong, or it just works differently with this phone, the files still appear in the Music Player app.

another question, though not related to rooting ..i use EDGE GPRS and through dial up i can connect to internet using phone as modem in debugging mode. i see that there are some new app like wireless tether ..
can i make windows to connect without USB ?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI've tried hiding my custom tones that I've downloaded at various points in different places on my phone (T-Mobile Galaxy S4), inclding the external SD, but to no avail. For example, I added a high quality .mp3 clip of a old rotary phone ring to use as my ringtone, I put it straight into the ringtones system folder.
Very next time that I start up Google Music, there's new stuff from 'unknown artist," low and behold, the ringtone.
Super annoying, part of the reason I was paying for all access to use Google Music was to have a clean, auto-organized library. I don't want all of my sounds system-wide added to my library, and I can't seem to find any way to change the folders it searches, or even to remove it from the library within the app once it is added.
I deleted them and they reappear... i dont mind them there for my music, but i hate going to my gallery and seeing tons of album pics...

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, got this new "awesome" phone I've heard so much about and I'm starting to get really irritated and about to throw it against the wall.I've read tons of posts on this forum and others and can't get new rintones loaded, and advice? I've used the sync feature in Windows Media Player to load music, and when I go into the Music Player on the phone, they are all there, but show unknown artist, unknown albulm, whats the deal? I deleted them and re-loaded, same issue. I deleted again and did drag and drop and they dont show in the medai player at all.

It's annoying that when I download ringtones on my Captivate, it puts them right into my music files so that when I'm listening to music, the ringtones pop up and play every once in awhile. Does anyone know how to seperate the ringtones so this doesn't happen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am new to the Sprint and the Moment scene and was wondering if someone could maybe explain how to organize my ringtones and music better than how it is done now. I can connect the phone to the pc just fine and mount/unmount and copy files and such. What is bothering me is how the songs list in the player and under ringtones, seems all list the same in both places, I made a playlist, but I don't want my songs listing as ringtones. Anyone know how to do this better? Also, how to make it read the song tags info as well.

The issue: I downloaded a ringtone and now it is showing up with all my mp3's (500 or so) in the Play Music App.
What I need: I do not want the ring tone to show up in the Play Music App but I want to keep the ringtone because I use it to identify when my girlfriend calls.
What I don't want to happen: I do not want the ringtone deleted because I still need it to function as a ringtone for one of my contacts.
I've downloaded some custom ringtones and notification tones onto my SF. However, they all end up in the music player. I don't want to hear my ringtones and notification tones while I'm going through all my music... Does anyone know how to get keep these custom ringtones and notification tones out of my Music Player?

Set your ring tone as custom ring tone which is .midi file. Please note that .midi is default extension for custom ring tones for Android 4.4, .mp3 can't be set as ring tone (at least, on my phone).
For incoming Viber call: do not answer and wait for other party to hang up.
Ring tone continues to play even after disconnect, the only way to stop it is to exit from Viber (or to terminate Viber using Task manager).
Does anyone have the issue of games or other apps .mp3's getting brought into the music player? Any way to get around this or just either use a different music player or create a playlist?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a free HTC Magic at the Google I/O conference and am liking it so far. I'm trying to set it up as a day-to-day replacement for my iPod, and right now I'm using BeyondPod for podcasts and have tried several different music players. My plan was to keep the two separate - Podcast software for podcasts and a music player for music. There's just one problem that is driving me nuts: I can't figure out how to keep "non-music" MP3s (namely, podcasts) out of the music library. The music players all seem to scan for every audio file on my SD card, and can't be forced to use just the Music folder. So I end up with a music library littered with podcasts.
I'd put them in separate playlists, but the files are constantly changing, and it wouldn't be worth trying to keep up with them. Am I missing something? I've googled the heck out of this and can't seem to find anyone else who's bothered by this. Is there any way to have a music player only play files from a certain folder?
I have 2 gameloft games and the 183 "sound" files show up in the music app. Does anyone know of a way to have them not appear in the list of available music? They're listed under "unknown artist".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm probably in the same situation as many SGS owners, i.e. installed the one click LAG fix to overcome the issues with 2.1. As 2.2 is due out (in the UK) probably sometime in the next few weeks, can someone more technical advise if the LAG fix should be removed and the phone unrooted before the official upgrade. Additionally, is there any benefit moving up to 2.2 other than Flash? I haven't had any real issues with the phone other than the initial LAG. I'm on Orange UK, but I don't suppose that really matters?
