I'm using Galaxy S2, running ICS 4.0.3
I have lots of funny contact names because of the SKYPE nicknames. Also, some contacts are made from email handlers.
So to organize them nicely, I spent last few hours on my Gmail / Contact account, renaming, adding photos, merging etc... Except, that when I want to SYNC it. Not all of the contacts update, and some remain as they were.
I would trash them all and import new set from Gmail, but I'm worry that when I do that, it might trash my gmail contact as well
Also, is there any way to change the contact font size? I have many long names, and lots of contacts. The screen cuts most of the names off and many of the contacts share same name. I have to open the contact, to find out details in order to know who I'm looking for.
Just got the Samsung galaxy s, can anyone help me sync my contacts from my phone to my gmail contacts?
i switched from iphone to the galaxy s recently. my contacts used to be saved in my sim card that i transferred over to the new phone. However, i am not able to find an option to sync these existing contacts with my gmail. anyone can tell me how to do that please? Any new contacts that i create in galaxy s can be synced with gmail. i just can't sync the existing ones.

Icon by phone numbers saved on phone is a cell phone, rather than the letter "G" which typically represents contacts pulled from Gmail online. I've had this issue - I believe - with my previous Samsung. Although I've seen this question brought up before, the answers are typically not device specific or have not been useful and clear to follow.

why my S4 is deleting all my contacts from it. I have my contacts synced with my gmail contacts and this has been the case for years. I had a Samsung Infuse before this and have never had a problem. I've had the S4 for about 3 weeks now and this hasn't happened until yesterday. And since yesterday it has happened 3x's. At first I thought it was a Trulia app (realestate app) that I was using to try to call some realtors. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but the first 2 times I was on the app and my contacts disappeared. How I recovered them was through the contacts recovery feature on Gmail. I would be SOL if I were out and needed to call someone on my contacts list immediately and without access to my laptop.

I've linked both my yahoo and gmail accounts to the contact app on the droid. I can get two way sync with the gmail contacts, but the contact app won't allow me to edit any Yahoo contacts!
Is there a way to get two way sync of contacts b/t yahoo mail and the droid contact app?
Updated my SGS last night using Kies. The software is running fine and seems to be faster but I have a problem I cannot dial contacts directly from that part of the phone. All I am getting is the message and video call option, the green call button seems to have disappeared. I can receive calls OK and made them, by manually dialing or selecting from call log. Haven't tried a reset but don't want to do that if there is another way in resolving.

I've done restore, but then once my phone access the contact list again they are gone. I did not realize this after the first restore and now it's been too long (gmail only allows 29 days to restore) since I last restored to see any of the 100's of contacts I manually entered into Gmail!

When I go to sync my contacts with my Gmail account my phone only registers only half my contacts. Here is what it is doing it shows some as google contacts on my phone and the remaining ones it shows them listed as phone. I cannot figure out how to fix this.

My idiotic sister logged out of my account without my permission, logged into hers and left it like that. Now my facebook account wont sync with my phone contacts again. Everytime i go to my contacts, tap on options and go to 'accounts' and select my facebook from the list of accounts i've added, the 'sync now' button works but when I click on it it says 'sync disabled'.
I went onto my FB app and looked for account sync options but I couldnt find any.
Our organisation just changed from ADSL to Fibre Optic cable, and as a result we all had reconnect our devices to the exchange server. As a result, not all my outlook contacts come down from the MS exchange server. I can see them in 'Contacts' in Outlook on my Mac, I can see them in 'Contacts' in the remote desktop, but they are not visible on my phone.
Emails sync down fine, as well as 95% of my contacts.

I have no idea why this is not integrated into Android's version of Gmail or why it is not a selectable option like Calendar, or why there isn't support on this when you do a search, so that's why I'm posting this.

I was wondering how you print directly from gmail app. My father has a Motorola admiral and can print pictures and attachments. Yet we can't figure out how to print the actual gmail message. I also checked on my gs2 but can't figure it out on there too.

I've been searching and can only find people with Hero's saying there is an option in People - Groups, then press menu, and you should be able to select what groups to sync. But I don't have this option. (Though I did here one Hero owner saying his option wasn't there at first.) Strangely, I even have more contacts than my Gmail "all contacts". Somehow I have some duplicates or fragments, I don't know. how to leave out syncing All Contacts?

View 7 Replies View RelatedA little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I didn't understand the choices (save on SIM, phone or Google) when I created my phone contacts. About half came from GMail. But the other half either came from Facebook etc, or were created on the phone -- and saved to the phone. I can't find a way to re-save the non-Google contacts to Google. I want to get the phone contacts up to Google so the sync/backup system will work. How? (Other than manually doing the whole damn thing again.)

I add them to my phone. But If I want to mail them from my home computer. I want to manage the contacts directly from my Gmail. As a work-around I've created 2 new groups, "My Family" and "My Friends", but this is messy (I end up with both "Family" AND "My Family" on gmail, but just "My Family" on my Hero). Is there any way to sync those basic 3 groups?

I have just spent 3 hours typing all of my contacts into my new Gmail account due to probs a)transferring contacts from my old iphone to my HTC and, b)transferring contacts from the iphone to gmail.
I have manually deleted all of the contacts from my SIM card to avoid further confusion, and am now trying to sync the contacts freshly added to my gmail account, with my empty HTC desire phone book.
This process would appear to be self-explanatory, and pretty easy, going by other peoples' posts...however the HTC has claimed to be 'synchronizing' via HTC Sync for the past hour, but nothing is happening!
