I just can't seem to have my gmail groups appear on my Fascinate. I mean they don't even show up. I can alter my contacts in gmail and that shows up on my phone but any group I create will not show up.

I have been using gmail extensively for the last 3 years. I have tons of contacts in many different groups on my account.If I select the gmail account on my galaxy it does not recognize the groups and it throws all my contacts into one group with the name of my gmail account.
Is there a way (an application) to fix this?
After updating to 2.1v2 from 1.5 I cant find where you control which groups gets synced. When I go to People->Groups->Menu the option for 'Sync Groups' is missing. I have so many contacts in GMail, id prefer to only sync certain groups.

View 6 Replies View Relatedim not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
I cannot figure out how to send an e-mail to an entire groups as with the web interface.For example, if I have a group called "Group 1" that has 10 Contacts in it, I want to type "Group 1" in the "To:" field and e-mail all 10 contacts.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI initially had all of my contacts switched over to my new phone via backup assistant. Now I know most people don't like this because they can do this via google. However, the reason that I like backup assistant so much is because it puts the numbers on my phone and then I can give a person their own ring tone.My problem occurred on 10/23, when in the morning, I turned my phone on and all of my contacts were gone. I tried to resync with backup assistant but the stupid program is messed up and long story short, Verizon knows about it and they have no clue when it will be fixed.
Now to my question. I have managed to get all of my contacts from Verizon saved to my computer and uploaded to gmail. However, it is a pain because I have to go through each one and move the phone number from the notes section to the actual phone number section and gmail lags something bad for me for some reason.I want to know how I can get my gmail contacts saved back to the phone without having them all duplicated. http://androidforums.com/fascinate-support-troubleshooting/198843-cant-associate-ringtones-contacts.html I used this technique and I ended up with 270 contacts that were linked instead of the 135. I don't want them duplicated because I don't want them taking up more room than they have too. Is that just weird of me to be concerned about how much room the contacts are taking up? Whenever I try to change my Edit Sync Groups from All to My Contacts only, I get a force close of acore.Has anyone else experienced or heard about this? Any solutions? I have an HTC Magic running 1.5.

We us to do this all the time with our Blackberries and it was a life saver. I just created a gmail account to that is all new to me as well. So I am not sure if it somehow has to go through my google calendar or is there an app of a different calendar that we both can download?

My business email account is sent up through the regular email program on my phone. This way I can differentiate personal from business email on my home page. On thing I noticed is that I can't send mail to group contacts with Gmail program, but it seems to work okay with the regular email program. It locked up and perma-black screened after rooting and installing launcher pro, so I tried to use the backup from Odin to save it. Saved the phone. Seems to work. So here is my question:
I used to have a Blackberry and whenever I received an email from this contracting company I do work for with a scheduled meeting it would automatically sync it with my calendar. It would ask me to accept this meeting I would hit ok then look in my calender and there it was. Is there a way to do the same thing with this phone? I am not very tech savvy so I can use all the help I can get.
My Google contacts sync up with the Droid X just fine, except that the groups on Google don't show up on the Droid. Also, groups on the Droid don't show up on Google. Also, Google tasks are not downloading to the Droid.

I now saved everything to google contacts, and even after saving some in various groups, I cannot get the groups to sync over to the vibrant. All of the contacts synced perfectly, but not the groups. I even tried making new groups using different names than the generic google group names. If I display contacts from both the phones memory and google contacts, then it will show me the groups I've selected.

Those groups get synced to my android contacts and I can see them in the groups tab. However, neither gmail nor any sms app that I have tried actually use these contact groups for anything.
Am I missing some setting for this to work or is this not implemented in android?

View 3 Replies View Relatedso i exported all my contacts through the app (exportcontact) to an CSV file, i saved them to my PC, then i uploaded them to my Gmail account. everything went smooth and all my contacts showed up on my Gmail so i went ahead and deleted all my contacts on the phone..but now i cant seem to figure out how to get the contacts back on the phone. ive tried exporting file from Gmail and saved it, then tried to put it back onto my SD but i wont let me.(error msg, cant write onto disk i need to take my phone to telus and have the stupid crackling speaker replaced.

His groups screen only has the option to add or delete groups.The only difference I can think is that I did not have Verizon transfer my contacts from my blackberry to my Eris, he did.

They're all neatly organized into groups on gmail, but on the phone they just all populate the "all contacts" or "google contacts" in the stock contact manager. Is there a way to filter by group? I'm using an incredible and this functionality is build into HTC's "people". Am I missing something similar that Motorola has set up? Seems like theres gotta be a way to group contacts on here too.

The problem I'm encountering is that I have thousands of Google contacts from anyone who has ever sent me an email and I don't want them in my phone contacts. Same thing goes for facebook. It took a while but I did eventually figure it out.But now I'm having a very strange problem. I'm unable to mount the phone when I connect it to my computer.The problem is whenever I plug the phone into the computer the phone doesn't recognize a USB connection.So I can't go in and tell it to mount. The weird part is that if I just plug the phone into the wall to charge that's when I get the USB notification that I've connected to a USB.Somewhere my phone has mixed the two inputs up.

The GMail account I have and registered to my cell phone when I got it is an account I've had since the first few weeks GMail was in beta by invitation only over 5 years ago. Needless to say, I have hundreds of contacts in that account.
When I activated my Droid, they ALL came over. What a mess. The Verizon guy emptied my contacts on the phone and uploaded my phone book from my BlackBerry.
I want to sync my Droid's address book to a second gmail account I made just for this purpose, but I can't get them to sync over. How do I delegate my phone's contacts sync with that second Gmail account?
I added it under Gmail and logged in. Under Contacts > Accounts, that account sync is ON for contacts and auto-sync & Background data is checked.
