I just installed Froyo in Kies. Everything went smoothly and the phone seems to work like a charm after installation. The only thing weird but not bad was that all the applications were in different order. BUT the first bad thing I noticed was that the Android Market application was gone! Is this normal? Can I get it back somehow?

I just noticed while upgrading from the "pulled" 2.2 to the "official" 2.2 some of my purchased apps are no longer available from the market. Cannot be found at all. Someone said that Google has to approve every new ROM to get complete access to the market. I was just wondering if it is I who have the glitch or if anyone else has the same problems. I have heard from two other sources (in Sweden) who have the same issues.

It's running smooth and I've not had any problems My question is, what is the difference between my existing version and the 'offical' Froyo 2.2 that will be released soon? Would I be able to update my firmware to the newer version since I'm already on 2.2 (I9000XXJPM, FROYO.XWJP6)?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy gmail app suddenly stopped working. i have background and auto sync on. contacts and calendar syncing without any issue. mail is the only problem. i uninstalled ADW launcher which i updated right before this problem and all related apps for that launcher from the phone. i rebooted the phone (several methods including holding down power and volume buttons down, power off and battery out) but the problem still persists. I am unable to see the gmail app in the android marketplace from my phone. Otherwise, i will uninstall the one in my phone and reinstall the same. Another crazy thing is..when i open manage applications under settings, i dont see gmail app there. i have to app on my tray but not found in the applications list.what is going on?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this, but when I look in Market I sometimes can't find certain apps. Was just looking for Where (where.com) a good travel app and it's not in there. Also when I install Yelp, it installs but immediately closes when I try to launch.
Is this a canada thing or what? Is the firmware so old that these phones are useless?
Updated to Android 2.1 today and none of my apps are listed in the market that I purchased. Yes I used the same email address. Frustrating part is MyBackup Pro was one of them! So I can't restore all my data either. Anyone have any ideas?

The one I know for sure is the MLB.com At Bat 2010 app. AppBrain still lists it (in fact, it shows that it got a price drop about 10 hours ago), but scanning the QR code, searching for it in the Android Market, even trying to install it from AppBrain all lead to the same thing: The item could not be found. I don't know if this is happening with other apps or not. I do know for sure that the MLB.com At Bat 2010 app was there before the update as I was trying to decide whether I was justified in spending the money to listen to the playoff games at work. But now it's just gone without a trace.Anyone else notice this or other apps missing?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've seen many threads on the crappy side asking how to side load apps (installing non market apps) well you can root (look for the sticky in our forum) or you just use the Side loading Wonder Machine with no need to root. I use it all the time (just got me an Oregon Trail apk anyway, just follow the instructions and you'll be happy. I would make two minor corrections though. I downloaded the samsung drivers from samsung them selfs. Also make sure you have the apk in the same folder as the wonder machine heres a video.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S. When I am making a call, the dial pad contains buttons with a number and three to four letters. However, while I am in a call and that I hit the "dialpad" button to show the dial pad, it contains the same buttons but without the letters. This is embarrassing when you need to type a password or a name.So the two questions are:
1. Is there a way to get the letters to show on the dial pad during a call?
2. Is this a Samsung or Android bug?
I created some memo files using the 'Memo' application, but cannot find them when I look in 'My Files'.Does anyone know why?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just updated my SGS to Froyo via the registry hack but I noticed one small problem in the music app. Every last character on the album is missing (e.g. Pearl Jam's "Binaural" displays as "Binaura") I'm not using mp3s but flacs which may be the cause of the problem. I notice in Eclair that the music app does not recognize flac ID3 tags but in Froyo, it recognizes the album art and album name but not the artist. Great, but the missing last letter in every album's name is super annoying.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know an SD card gives you extra memory for media files, but since the phone comes with 16GB is it really necessary? The basic iPhone 4 comes with 16GB and I don't think most users are clamoring for more.
Does it help the SGS speed if you leave most of the internal memory free (only using it for apps) and use the external card for all your files?
Or does it just provide an opportunity to go crazy with storing files, like an entire season of a TV show for instance?
All that being said... yes I did spring for an 8GB SD card but is it money well spent... who knows.

I tried to install Jelly Bean ROM 4.1.2 version but could not succeed.
I have tried out the below steps-
1) Phone was unrooted, so rooted it and checked using Root Checker app.
2) Downloaded zip file for Jelly Bean ROM and tried installing it, but getting some error as "No space left on the device"

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed ADW.Launcher today on my Galaxy S, and have ended up with a black screen. I'd like to fix it without a factory reset, if possible.Galaxy S, Android 2.1, bought in Singapore, SingTel settings but bought it unlocked. Currently in Indonesia. (Can't look up Baseband Version, Kernel Version and Build Number on the phone now for obvious reasons.)A short while after installing ADW.Launcher, the Home button became unresponsive, and a minute or two later the phone restarted itself (the way it's done by itself a handful of times since I bought the phone - without going through the whole power down and power up sequences of sounds and graphics). Then I only had a black screen with date and time at the bottom, and the menu and back buttons lit up, and now I can't get the display back. It seems to start normally, with the logos and sounds, but just returns to that black screen with date and time.
I know something's going on inside because I can swipe to unlock the screen (giving me a purely black screen). If I then press and hold Home, I get the haptic vibration that normally goes with the "recently used" menu. But if I randomly tap all over the black screen, and try to use the menu and back buttons (guessing where the menu items are) I get no response, and no haptic vibration.Holding down the power button gives me the usual power menu - I can select "Power off," but it restarts. I've removed the battery a couple of times, waited and replaced it - but no change.
At first I thought it was related to my SIM card, as it did the self-restart thing yesterday about 20 min after I got a new SIM card. But doing a google search suggests that this problem is sometimes related to launchers. And I removed the SIM card and restarted (removing battery) and it didn't help.The closest I could find to an answer to this problem was in the Droid X forum: HELP! I uninstalled launcher pro, and now have a black screen! - The solution there was to do a factory reset. I'd really rather not do that, but may not have a choice.
I'm new here. I tried upgrading to this firmware (JG4) through samsung kies..The download took forever and started to install, I even got the successfully installed message in the computer, but it in the process ended during the reboot throwing some �media not loaded error� and my phone is not booting up.

"Incompatible with other applications using the same shared user id." It comes with the Maps, too. I cant find a solution to the problem. There are some, but I dont want to flash another ROM.
