Sep 18, 2010I'm in Memo. I've got 10 lines of text. I want to select the 4th and 5th line of text and cut them out. How do I do it? When I press the text for a couple of seconds I get the usual options to select, but it's not obvious at all what to do next. Step by step instructions would be nice, because they aren't in the manual.

Sep 15, 2010I have a Samsung Galaxy S. When I am making a call, the dial pad contains buttons with a number and three to four letters. However, while I am in a call and that I hit the "dialpad" button to show the dial pad, it contains the same buttons but without the letters. This is embarrassing when you need to type a password or a name.So the two questions are:
1. Is there a way to get the letters to show on the dial pad during a call?
2. Is this a Samsung or Android bug?

Oct 15, 2010I just installed Froyo in Kies. Everything went smoothly and the phone seems to work like a charm after installation. The only thing weird but not bad was that all the applications were in different order. BUT the first bad thing I noticed was that the Android Market application was gone! Is this normal? Nov 6, 2010I've just updated my SGS to Froyo via the registry hack but I noticed one small problem in the music app. Every last character on the album is missing (e.g. Pearl Jam's "Binaural" displays as "Binaura") I'm not using mp3s but flacs which may be the cause of the problem. I notice in Eclair that the music app does not recognize flac ID3 tags but in Froyo, it recognizes the album art and album name but not the artist. Great, but the missing last letter in every album's name is super annoying.

Nov 4, 2010I just noticed while upgrading from the "pulled" 2.2 to the "official" 2.2 some of my purchased apps are no longer available from the market. Cannot be found at all. Someone said that Google has to approve every new ROM to get complete access to the market. I was just wondering if it is I who have the glitch or if anyone else has the same problems. I have heard from two other sources (in Sweden) who have the same issues.

Its very hard to do apparently and I not adept enough to mess with it. There's also other ways to enable custom animations by flashing special zip files created by smokin1337 and clarified by ReelFiles and using something like rom toolbox to add custom ones to your system/media folder. Nov 10, 2010I purchased an unlocked and unbranded Samsung Galaxy S i9000 from Amazon.
After playing around with it for some time, installing all sorts and getting to know how to use it I decided I would perform a factory reset to "clean" it before continuing to use it "properly".
Before performing the factory reset I navigated to "My Files", selected delete, then selected every single folder and file and deleted them.
I then performed the factory reset.
Now I am missing 4 images which were available as wallpaper in "gallery" and probably several other files/folders.
I thought the factory reset would return the phone to its original state and reproduce any folders/files I may have deleted in the process. I thought they might be stored in a hidden "partition" or similar which I had no access to.
Anyway my questions are how can I restore my phone to its original state and which other files/folders would have been present initially but have now been deleted by me?

Aug 20, 2010so the story behind this mini-tutorial is that I live with other people that have Galaxies and I upgrade their phones periodically, as part of the upgrade process I have to wipe the phones and a nandroid backup doesn't always work (like if you go from 1.5 to 1.6.3.4) and with the wipe some important things are lost: APN settings, Hebrew fonts, Hebrew Keyboard, etc.I have to install the keyboard, fonts, script utility, etc. every time on every phone; some of these apps are in the market, but to use the market you need to do the setup wizard to add your Google account to the phone. And sine sometimes the owners of the phones aren't around, I need to have the .apk files with the apps I need to install so I can do it without downloading them from the market. Hence, I had to figure out a way to extract the .apk files from my phone so I could install them on theirs. Here's how it's done:Prerequisites:

I have downloaded the ThinkFree Mobile app so that I can open Excel and Word files, and have also downloaded the Dropbox app so that I can sync files to my phone from my computer. However, I have a few questions: 1) It doesn't look like my files are syncing to my phone with Dropbox once I make changes on my computer. 2) I am not able to edit files on my phone in either ThinkFree or Dropbox; shouldn't I be able to? and 3) How the heck do I get Outlook on my phone?.

One thing that has escaped me thus far despite all my googling and digging through menus and options in the phone is a way to display the full titles of programs. Ie: I'm running Opera Mini and the icon in the applications menu and on my home screen says "Opera Min" and then the text fades off. I would like it to just say "Opera Mini." Eight characters(ish) for a filename is so Windows 3.1, I would think there would be a way to have the full name displayed.

My S4 auto delete my images, videos, music and documents once in a while like twice a month?
Basically, all files from "My Files" folder are deleted. My apps, contacts and sms-es are all unaffected. I don't have any SD card attached.
After that incidence, I decided to factory data reset my S4 as I suspected the software might be corrupted or infected by virus or something. The same thing happened again after 2weeks or so.

Aug 15, 2010Im on Galaxo 1.6.3.3 and have been facing this strange problem since a couple of days. Whenever I mount my internal 8 GB memory and try to copy files into it, the internal memory card automatically un-mounts by itself after a couple of seconds interrupting the file transfer.
This happens almost all the time.
I don't have any such issues with the external SD card.
Should reformatting the internal memory help?
Also, If I reformat the internal memory...I dont think the OS should be affected. I suppose the internal memory is just like a movable drive...with no OS files on it.

My application reads some data files from the File System, so using DDMS i push all the files in "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder and run my application on emulator. I am able to see my desired output properly on the emulator.
2) Now i have Android device and i don't know how to push the files in the Internal memory of the phone. I have installed driver CD. But it only shows me the SD card directory.
3) Actually what i want is that the moment my application is installed and run it should read the data files from the file system. So there should be no added efforts to push the files in the file system.
4)Means can i pack my data files with my .apk file and when the apk is getting installed can the data files be placed directly in the internal memory(file system) i.e. "/data/data/com.mypackage/" folder. Is this possible ?
