View 2 RepliesI want to reach out to others here before I take my Moment back to Best Buy to exchange it for another Moment.
My signal strength fluctuates wildly just sitting in the same spot. With the Hero I got a constant 5 of 6 bars, but the Moment will vary between 0 and 5 of 6 bars. But it's more complicated than that.
It seems that whenever the EVDO data kicks in, it causes the signal strength to drop to 0 or 1 bar. Once the data is idle, the EVDO indicator turns grey and then changes from EV(^v) to EV(D). At that point the single strength will return to 3 or 4 bars.
At times, though not as consistently or often, the EVDO connection will fall back to 1xRTT and will switch between them every few minutes. This will occur even when the signal strength bars are in the 3 to 4 range.
So, the my questions are...
Does the signal strength apply to the data signal or just the voice signal?
Is there any legitimate reason for the signal strength to vary wildly like I've described, even when sitting in the same recliner where the Hero had a constant 5 bar connection and data service that never wavered?
Is anyone else having signal strength and/or data service issues?
Should I exchange the Moment for another Moment or will I likely experience the same issue?
I'm on T-Mobile UK and can't seem to send an MMS when I only have 2g signal.Once i hit send there is a small circle timer that just spins and spins forever. If I do it with a 3g signal it goes very quickly and the other person gets it.Is it not possible to send an MMS with only a 2g signal?

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if anyone else has seen this issue. I have some Altec Lansing Backbeat (903) bluetooth headphones that I use with my Galaxy S. Very nice, decent quality, signal doesn't drop much, etc. Generally very pleased. My phone is however now being a pain with them....
Previously turning the headphones on, with the bluetooth already enabled would cause them to connect automatically. If i didn't have bluetooth turned on i'd have to manually connect from the bluetooth settings once I had enabled it. So far so good.
About a week ago my phone started 'forgetting' the headphones. This means almost every time I want to use them I have to pair them again. A huge pain. Even when the phone hasn't forgotten them they don't connect automagically, meaning I still end up in the settings menu. Any thoughts?
I own the i9000 about a week nowI noticed that the wifi reception is very bad compared with my iPhone 3GS(even in my house i have one bar;and i have to stick the phone to the router D-LINK to have full bars)I want to know is it "normal" is it an individual problem or all the devices had the same issue ?Is it related to hardware or software bug ?Can this problem be solved with Froyo ?

I did change the sim-card (and subsequent number) since first using it, but I never logged intio Kies with the old sim-card.The phone is rooted. How do I get Kies (or my Samsung phone) to show my current telephone number? In the phone properties (Menu, Settings, About, Status) the same wrong number is shown. When calling, the receiver sees the correct telephone number. So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can get a few minutes of 4G signal at my home per day, but when it drops out and 3G takes over, the signal will flatline and boot me offline. My 3G speeds are usually around 56-150Kbps or less, and my 4G speeds are around 2.5 Mbps What would cause this ? According to WiMax location sites online, my nearest 4G tower is .52 mile away. I would think that if I actually get 4G signal, then 3G would be constant. Turning off 4G doesn't help either. Is there some setting that I could have turned off that would cause this ? Running stock EVO on 2.2 all the latest updates

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in Canada and my service provider is Rogers, however I bought the phone in Hong Kong. At first, I rooted my Galaxy S i9000 so I can remove the stock apps, but I couldn't seem to unroot it so I flashed the firmware. At first it said "failed" so I had to reboot it back into download mode to start the flashing again. I forgot to put on the back cover during the flash and the battery fell out. Now when I turn on my Galaxy S, it stays on the welcome screen where it says "Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung" and does not do anything. Is my phone bricked and what can I do to fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Samsung Galaxy S won't fully start up. I take the battery out and start it and it goes through the starting up phase with the spirals and what not and then the screen says Galaxy S then the phone either just shuts off by itself or the screen is black but the bottom two touch buttons are lit up. Ive tried to do the reset on it by holding the Up volume, home button and power button but that doesn't seem to work either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Samsung Galaxy S phone from a local AT&T store in the US. I took the phone home the first day and spent a few hours scrolling thru the menus and getting familiar with the phone. I did a software update on the phone it has ver 2.1. I also went to a few websites to test the browser. I made about 3 calls and talked for about an hour. I had the phone turned on the entire time, I was not in standby mode.
After about 2 hours - the back of the phone where the battery is, started getting hot.
It didn't burn my hand but it was like holding a very hot cup of coffee in your hand. Very uncomfortable. Has anyone else had this problem with a battery getting hot?
Why is the battery overheating? I'm afraid to use the phone now, it might burn up something in the phone or ruin a memory card or something else.
What's causing the battery top get really hot? How do you fix this problem?
Sorry i just came from the iPhone i have seen the light of Android but i am struggling with getting media from pc-phone.
I've tried Kies but it just seems so bloody complicated, i've looked at my phone from my computer and there are various folders but none it seems for media?
Sorry for probably a basic question be gentle with the flames
What is the confirmed maximum SD card capacity for the phone? Also, does anyone else's 16GB version show up around 14GB available to use/
View 14 Replies View RelatedSo i've persuaded o2 to have a look at my phone in the hope of replacing it. First they've asked me to reset the phone using *2767*3855#. If i have the same problems (dialpad not working during calls) then i've to return it. If their engineer cannot fix it, i'll (hopefully) get a replacement. So i'm running Galaxo with JC6, what should I do before returning the phone? I'm thinking Nandroid and then copy everything to my hard disk and remove that from my phone. Then use ODIN to install the latest official firmware (which is?). Then I run the reset command they gave me. That about right or should I do something else?
i have rooted 2.1 how do i upgrade to 2.2? kies tells me it cant upgrade the firmware on my device. is this because i have rooted my phone? if so. how do i reflash to the original firmware to upgrade to 2.2 and whats the easiest process of backup? You'll have to excuse my naivety but i did some searching and couldnt find anything specific enough.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHas ANy one tried opening Samsung Galaxy i7500?, I have chnaged to galaxo 1.6.4. and running it happily downloading stuff and all and all of sudden battery discharged to the point that it would not get charged any more, Insitailly I thought I fried my battery with excess charging, hence I looked for batteries, fortunately in my THIRD world county India, there is no battery in stock at service stations. Hence I needed to wait for 5 days. Now remember I said fortunately.. whyy....cause then i tried restore the old OS, which Galaxo promptly helped me with, Now i tried charging again, but NO way, but the phone was getting heated up like it was on stove or something and it again stopped charging, So I understood its not the battery but the motherboard which has problem...
Now my cell is still in warranty, so before giving it to service station, I want to open it up and see whats what.. I got the manual already.it seems pretty simple( I have disassembled AT& T's Tilt, Nokai 6630, Nokia 6600, and many small others as well) but before that I would like to ask people has any one done it before ? anything I should be looking out for?
