View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a samsung galaxy S i9000, and the mobile access point is activated, I can successfully connect to it using my laptop but when I try to connect using my other mobile (ex: Nokia) to the Galaxy's mobile access point on the target device it says the wireless connection is lost and on the Galaxy the mobile access point is deactivated automatically, is this a limitation that the other device cannot be a WiFi mobile (Which I don't think)? OR is this a bug in Galaxy's mobile access point.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have now been using the samsung galaxy for a week now and there is only one factor that is letting down the phone for me and thats the lagging. I have no complaints about the camera even though its without the flash, the internet speed is top notch and the innovative swype makes life so much easier. However what irritates me is the time it takes to access an app or returning to the home page. It must take 30 seconds or more before the screen is loaded which is annoying when you want to do something in a hurry. This also occurs when someone is ringing me and I'm trying to answer, the phone freezes for 10 seconds. I,ve only downloaded around 10 apps so surely that cannot be the problem. I've got a week left before I have to come to a decision whether or not to keep the phone or return it back to vodafone and would like some advice or reassurance about this problem. Also out of interest I would like to know if anyone has encountered the same problem on the iphone 4. The one area in which the galaxy beats the iphone 4 is the price considering what you get with both however it may be worth it to use a phone that dosent lag.
View 34 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to be able to control an SGS remotely via a PC, as you can now do with the HTC Desire HD using htcsense.com ? I guess what we are looking for is a way to allow you to get the phone to ring for those times that my wife cant remember where she put it, or to lock it or erase all the data if it gets stolen/lost etc. I presume that this isn't a standard feature on the SGS (unless we have missed it) and so I don't know if there are any apps out there that allow you to do this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't get a fully functioning data connection on my Galaxy S through my current SIM card. I can browse with Opera (which doesn't seem to care what the APN settings are) but nothing else works, (unless I get a wifi connection, which works fine). The problem may or may not disappear when I move countries soon (to Indonesia) but I'd like to understand what's going on.
I bought it in Singapore - it's got a SingTel setup (sticker on the back, boot screen, links on home) but it's supposed to be unlocked (and SingTel say they sell them unlocked too). A guy at the Samsung service center in Singapore said it was "locked" for other countries though because they don't yet have the Galaxy S - but once phone companies have the right settings for the phone it should be fine. I used it with a different Singapore phone company (StarHub) with a data plan for a couple of days that worked fine. I browsed and used the Google Maps app, no problem.
Then the problem. I came to Malaysia a week ago and bought a Maxis SIM card. At their service center they entered the APN settings (they already sell the Galaxy S), and the internet worked when I tested it on a few pages. 30 min later I tried again and got nothing, and it didn't come back. I returned to the service center, they made small changes to the settings, and it worked again... for a few minutes only. Then I discovered that I can browse in Opera - even if I use dummy APN settings (random numbers in one field and everything else blank or default).
However after I restarted the phone again, I couldn't repeat the success. I stopped unneeded apps, I uninstalled NimBuzz, I tried restarting over and over... but I get no connection other than with Opera. I've tried other internet apps (Maps, sync in GTasks, OkCupid, NimBuzz) and none work. Any clues as to what's going on?
I cant access my voicemail because the tone on the keypad is long. How do I change it so when I push a button when dialing, it is short.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new SIM card (same provider, Telkomsel, but for a different area code in Indonesia). The settings are supposed to be automatic, and I do indeed have a "Telkomsel GPRS" under "Mobile networks" > "Access Point Names". The 3G on the old SIM worked pretty well, without having to do anything, but this one gets only rare and short-lived connections to the net. I've rung up Telkomsel a few times now, and they're supposed to be fixing it soon, but it's a few days and I'm getting impatient. One of the help line people suggested manually entering a new access point, but the info he gave me was a bit confusing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I first bought my Samsung Galaxy S, I shut down everything 3G related as my internet bundle didn't kick in until this week. Now I can't seem to switch 3G access back on. I've downloaded APNdroid, but I've clearly left something crucial switched off as 3G still not working. The instruction manual isn't very useful.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to block access to browsers? I would like the user of a Samsung galaxy Pocket (version 4.0.4) to be able to access one browser only.
The browser in use has a blacklist filter which block websites, but indeed you can easily bypass it by installing a new browser.
My past attempts: I have searched for a long time but could not find anything that worked. The browsers I have found which can block other browsers are not compatible with this device.
I have also searched for alternative ways of blocking websites though a blacklist but all of those solutions require rooting the device, which I do not have enough technical confidence to do.
Blocking Play store is not either an option since you would be able to install new browsers in other ways.
I have problem with wifi conection. I'm normally connected to wifi but I don't have internet access.

So the issue is not operator related but telephone related.

I have no idea why this is not integrated into Android's version of Gmail or why it is not a selectable option like Calendar, or why there isn't support on this when you do a search, so that's why I'm posting this.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and I've done this on the Ipad as well.

Multicsc : can not access to / system/csc/VOD/system/
Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.

I bought an unlocked version online. market:// urls don't seem to work..
I tried everything and I'm beside myself. I dropped my phone off the second level of a local mall....it is (was) a Samsung Captivate. I was leaning over the rail to yell down to someone and the phone fell out of my pocket.
The screen is black....the buttons on the bottom light up and function. but I can't see a thing.
I need to get a video off the phone of my son, it was one of those moments that I was so glad I caught on video. I have to get it!! I"m sending the phone to DR.PHONEZ to get repaired but I scared that this video will be lost. So
I tried BitPim but the phone isn't supported. IT is recognized by my pc but I can't access the files I need.
two REMOVABLE drives show up in "MY COMPUTER" but when I click them it says "please insert disk"
Not sure what to do here, I checked all over the web.
I'm a big fan of just having direct access to my devices (i.e., no sync, no "management" front end). So this isn't about local access from the device (using MyFiles or Astro), but from a PC in the same location (so not like 3G remote). So far I've explored these options: USB Connect phone, mount from notification menu, and there you go. Bluetooth Pair phone, use "send file" from PC BT app (running in system tray).
Files drop into a 'bluetooth' directory, ready to move/use. Android Web OS Very beta-esque right now, but runs as a service on the phone, then you can access the filesystem (and SMS, eventually other functions). You can copy up to the phone or download (basically via a simple web mechanism). Use across Another service on the phone, a basic FTP server accessible across WiFi.
Works pretty good so far, I created a 'network location' in Windows, then a shortcut on my desktop into my MP3 directory on /sd. So I just open that folder, copy over MP3s. Doesn't matter where the phone is currently sitting or connected. For the services type options, I'm going to check out something like Locale or Tasker, when I can trigger the service to fire up based on a rule (a specific WiFi network trigger would be outstanding).
I know there is a lag on the Galaxy S. But it is really annoying me, i know of the fixed where i require to root, but is there anything i can try at work. Just downloading things of the market?
