Have had this phone for just a couple hours and as I was getting it set up I noticed that the back button started acting up. Randomly the haptic feedback on it is weak, only about half strength. Anyone else have this problem? Should I exchange it?

i will be using my phone, set it down for a minute, screen turns off then the phone magically isnt on anymore. I have to do a battery pull to get it back on. The power button will not turn it on. any help anyone can give me its reallllly annoying update. So it was figured out that is was setcpu that was making the phone act weird, BUT now that there is an overclock kernel out that works(flashed and works perfect) how can i fix the issue of my phone randomly turning off?
View 11 Replies View RelatedFor a few weeks, my phone has been shutting itself off randomly for no apparent reason. I remove the battery, pop it back in, and it powers up normally. It's off now, I've removed the battery (for about 10 - 15 seconds) and it still won't turn back on.

Feeling good from all that I thought I'd take on a little tougher challenge and do some more customizing, starting out small before I think about tackling the Voodoo stuff later on. I tried to change the battery indicator to the circle indicator followed the directions here: UOT Kitchen. How-To It asked me to back up my "framework-res.apk" because I would have to replace it with one the website generated for me.

I saw where there is an app that will turn off the screen without locking it but isn't anyone else worried that after a few months of use, pushing the power button all the time is going to wear it out? Is there no app to turn on the screen by simply touching it, or touching one of the 4 icons at the bottom of the phone, and THEN moving the puzzle piece?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter being a dedicated bb user, I recently switched to a droid. I'm completely satisfied, however, I have had a small issue with my lock/power button. I've only had the phone for two weeks, but my power/lock button seems to be "stuck". I can still push it, but it's not as "click able" as when I first purchased it. I wish I could explain it better. I actually went to verizon a few days ago, and they weren't much help. The tech actually sprayed some of that air in a can stuff, which temporarily made it better. However, it now seems stuck again. Has anyone had this problem? Sorry for being such a new b!

Is it possible to reroute one of the hard buttons for this purpose? I know a lot of people would like it, but being that it seems to not exist at this point, I'm guessing it may be an impossibility? View 5 Replies View RelatedAt some point early on in my SF ownership, I accidentally pushed something that gave me a keyboard and word prediction that I like SO MUCH more than the little black box word prediction with Swype. I didn't download a 3rd party keyboard or anything. Problem is, I've somehow hit something again that has brought the black box popup word prediction and a different keyboard back. I've messed with every combination I can think of in Language and Keyboard, but can't seem to get the other keyboard back.
The keyboard I currently have is the one that has the letters and symbols on the same key. The one I like has just the letters on the keys and a symbol button to push to get just the symbols. The word recognition I want has a bar right about where you type that gives you suggestions and you can touch the suggestion you want and it will insert (it has the most likely suggestion in red, I think).
I make so many more typing mistakes with the black box prediction/current keyboard. Can someone tell me how to get the other way back?
It seems that rooting the Fascinate and fixing the Google Search issue on the soft key and removing some bloatware is pretty easy, and I'm actually contemplating it once I get a Fascinate. Here are my questions: If I root the phone, I would not get OTA updates, when 2.2 came out? I would have to remove the root in order to get that OTA update to 2.2? To remove the root, I would enter the following into a command prompt on the phone or on my PC?

Once I removed the root, the OTA update would just come up? Is there a difference between unrooting and returning my phone to stock? How to go back To stock - Android Forums.
I use this button all the time on my DINC for voice commands, usually things like locate .... and it pops up google maps and shows me what I'm looking for. Since Bing is the search engine of choice on the Fascinate, what function will holding down the button serve? Will it still allow Google Voice commands? If not, I think that's a deal breaker for me.

I went to do a hard reset and it did not solve the problem. When i restart phone, i can hear the phone start up music, and the soft buttons on the front work, but all i see is bright white. I had someone call me, and my phone rang, yet all i saw was a bright screen. When it goes idol to black, it wont turn back on at all.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is my first android device and i'm loving it... but one thing that irks me is the use, or lack thereof, of the back button.
As I am navigating menus and options in the Settings, I cannot simply go back one menu using the back key. For example, if I go to Settings->Battery Manager->Battery Profile Options and want to go back to the Settings screen, I cannot.
Pushing the back button does nothing and I can only go back to the Settings menu by going Home, then re-entering.
Another quirk regarding the back button is when reading emails. Using a regular email account such as Hotmail, I cannot simply read an email and go back to the inbox using the button.
It makes navigating the phone very tedious.
Is anyone else having a problem with the back button sticking down (physically, not a software issue) after pressing?

The only two things that have bothered me is: 1) the battery icon, it'll look like 80% when really it's 60% and 2) when I press the button sometimes I'll have to hit it a couple of times to make the back button work.

This led me to the Samsung manual (I don't own the phone) to confirm that it does have a week view (*phew*). My question is: How do you go to the next/previous day/week/month when you're in each view? Is it a simple one-click or swipe operation (like in Palm OS), or do you have to back out to, say, month view and drill in again (like, apparently, on the HTC Hero)?
