The default calendar app seems okay, but I like to see the event details, even if it's just 2 words in the "time box" in week view. I understand it can't do it for month view. It does it in the "day" view (when not in list) but I was curious if there was a better calendar app out on the market that did this?

Updated to 4.2 yesterday which is great.
But, on one of my panels I have a Calendar widget showing my future appointments. Since the update it only shows one week ahead where as before it showed about 2 months.
Is there a way to get it to show 2 months again?
Anyone heard anything about when this issue with Android and the calendar will be fixed?
I did some searches and this issue has been brought up as long ago as Feb 2009 on google's help page with a response from a google employee that the issue is known and being looked into.
Here's the issue: Whether you key an all day event into your google calendar via the web or onto your phone, the issue is the same. When you pull up the calendar via the monthly grid, you'll see the triangles on the days with events. If you click on a day that has an all day event (I'm not sure if this only affects 1 day events or multiple days) you'll drill down into the daily view and see the event at the top of the screen. So far, so good. The problem arises when you select the event. Under event details, the date of the event will be the day before it's actually entered into your calendar (i.e. a event for Fri 10/23 will show as Thu 10/22). If you hit menu and edit, the event edit screen now shows the correct date! The calendar widget will also show the event a day early.
For me, it doesn't matter if it's my calendar, my wife's shared calendar, google's pre-made calendars like moon phases or holidays, or whether the event was keyed into the phone or via the web interface. how many all day events I and my wife have keyed on our separate google calendars and while I want to see my current and upcoming events on my home screen with the calendar widget, this is just really irritating.
Should I be backing up my phone some way other than using the sync feature built in to Android? The reason I ask this is that the sync feature of the google calendar only seems to be a one-way sync. If I enter a event on the website calendar it goes to my phone OK. If I enter a event on my phone it never shows up on the website calendar.

Have successfully imported my old calendar to Google Calendar which initially synced with the calendar on my captivate. However, when I add a new event to my phone calendar, it does not automatically show up on the Google calendar. the Samsung rep told me I have to edit each new even to mark it as a "Google Calendar". Is there any way to make this the default option on the Captivate phone? I am hoping to have automatic syncronization b/t the phone and the Google calendar without having to force it to do so each time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Google Calendar to organize my life, and rely on the email reminders to keep me from forgetting events and to know when to act on them. With 2.1 I had no issues, Google Calendar was synced to the stock HTC calendar app on EVO. I had the calendar set to view in "agenda" mode. Now since updating to Froyo, when I open the calendar app in agenda mode, the events have bell icons to the right of them, this is new. If I tap the event to open it and view the details of the event, when I return to the main agenda viewing mode of the calendar the bell is gone.
The phone then syncs with Google Calendar, and deletes all of the scheduled Email Reminders that I have set up for the event. This was not a problem with 2.1. No bells showed to the right of the events in agenda mode, and I could tap into the event to view the details without deleting email reminders on Google Calendar. With Froyo, by simply tapping the event to view the details it is effectively wiping out all reminders, rendering the calendar useless. This making me wish I had never updated to Froyo. The calendar and reminders are the single most important function on my phone, and with Froyo it seems to be incredibly flawed.
I am syncing my Facebook calendar with the one on my Galaxy S. There is an event that I was invited to 29jul-28Aug that won't go away from my calendar though! I have declined it and also marked in the calendar that declined events should be hidden. Yet it is still there and the only way I can hide it is to leave out Facebook events all together.

View 1 Replies View RelatedBeing able to store all my upcoming work schedule, birthdays, and several appointments is one of the most valuable things that I use my Dinc for. However, I have some issues with my calender. When ever I open calender and do a search (example: "dentist apt") the search always shows the appointment or event as being one day before it is actually scheduled. When I go to day view or agenda it then shows the correct date. I thought that this was a problem specific to my Dinc, however yesterday I was at a VZ store and tested this on a dinc in the store and the same thing happened. Does anyone know why this happens and if this is just a bug or it is meant to do this? Thanks

View 10 Replies View RelatedI want to use this phone as a digital camera replacement. However when I turn on tehcamera, the power button turns into a "lock" button. There's no way to turn off the screen. So first I have to hit the home key. Then it takes about 8 seconds for the camera to disable before it returns to the home screen.Only then can I shut the phone using the power key. Then if I want to use the camera,I have to turn on the screen and relaunch the camera app.This feels completely wrong to me and makes it hard to use as a pure digital camera.

I think I'm probably overlooking something simple. What I need to know is. Well, everything from start to finish. When I connect to my PC, I have enabled USB debugging. Should I allow the SD card to mount or keep is in "charging" mode? I have experience with the manual methods where you access ADB Shell and copy/paste commands. That's how I rooted my Hero.
