Sep 11, 2010I set the TW one as a 'remember' after I downloaded LP, but I want to switch back and forth to compare? I've looked all over, any ideas?

Samsung Fascinate :: LauncherPro Force Closing?
Sep 24, 2010i got the phone i have not used the stock launcher, i've always used launcher pro, but today i started having force closes, i have turned the phone off, done a battery pull, uninstalled and installed again. But i am still having force closes, i have not even been able to run launcherpro, i just get a black screen and a force close. Any tips on what to do will be helpful, i tried ADW and dont like it very much, i am using stock right now.

Sep 12, 2010I'm using the Fascinate and LauncherPro (free).I've dropped shortcuts (by long pressing home screen, add shortcut) to my favorite Apps around the home screens.Well, after a reboot the shortcut custom/built-in icons 'disappear.' They become stock android icons.After some troubleshooting, I noticed that if I open up the [place where all the apps are stored] and long press dragged them to the home screen I want, they will retain the proper icon after reboot.

Nov 16, 2010I'll get a Fascinate at Best Buy on the black friday sale, just got some questions about the phone before I buy it.I love my Droid, have had it since launch,but with 2.2 its been slowing down and lagging more and more,So just out of the blue I stopped into a verizon store, I have to say, looking over all the phones, I was drawn to the Fascinate,after playing around with the demo model for about 10 minutes I fell in love with it,it was so snappy, and the screen was so crisp.I just want to know how well the camera compares to the Droid camera,I take alot of pictures with my Droid,how do games look on the fascinate,currently addicted to Angry Birds.

Nov 17, 2010I was using the plus version of LP, but it seemed to run pretty slow on my phone. Usually with menu selections (aka widget selection, or app selection when long pressing on the screen). The widgets also didn't update properly etc.I'm curious though is it might of been some advanced settings that I didn't play with. I typically just did an install setup my dock and homescreen, but never touched the advanced settings.Does anyone have some advanced settings they could share? Also my phone isn't rooted, would that cause all the lag with it? Cause honestly TW runs fine.

Nov 16, 2010I've downloaded Launcher Pro, I currently still have ADW installed as well. When I use LauncherPro my home screen (and other screens) are not set up the way I currently have them. I spent a lot of time setting my current screens so they are exactly the way I want them. Any way to save that config when switching to LauncherPro? It does seem faster so I want to give it a shot, but I'm dreadig setting everything up again- widgets, apps, etc.
Samsung Fascinate : Way To Get Framework-res.apk Back?
Oct 24, 2010A couple days ago I was able to successfully root my SF and change out the bottom right search key so it would default to Google from now on. Feeling good from all that I thought I'd take on a little tougher challenge and do some more customizing, starting out small before I think about tackling the Voodoo stuff later on. I tried to change the battery indicator to the circle indicator followed the directions here: UOT Kitchen. How-To It asked me to back up my "framework-res.apk" because I would have to replace it with one the website generated for me.

Nov 23, 2010At some point early on in my SF ownership, I accidentally pushed something that gave me a keyboard and word prediction that I like SO MUCH more than the little black box word prediction with Swype. I didn't download a 3rd party keyboard or anything. Problem is, I've somehow hit something again that has brought the black box popup word prediction and a different keyboard back. I've messed with every combination I can think of in Language and Keyboard, but can't seem to get the other keyboard back.
The keyboard I currently have is the one that has the letters and symbols on the same key. The one I like has just the letters on the keys and a symbol button to push to get just the symbols. The word recognition I want has a bar right about where you type that gives you suggestions and you can touch the suggestion you want and it will insert (it has the most likely suggestion in red, I think).
I make so many more typing mistakes with the black box prediction/current keyboard. Can someone tell me how to get the other way back?
Samsung Fascinate :: Removing Root / Going Back To Stock?
Sep 20, 2010It seems that rooting the Fascinate and fixing the Google Search issue on the soft key and removing some bloatware is pretty easy, and I'm actually contemplating it once I get a Fascinate. Here are my questions: If I root the phone, I would not get OTA updates, when 2.2 came out? I would have to remove the root in order to get that OTA update to 2.2? To remove the root, I would enter the following into a command prompt on the phone or on my PC?
How To Remove Root
adb shell
su (its going to ask you for permission on your phone so hit allow)
rm /system/app/Superuser.apk
rm /system/xbin/busybox
rm /system/xbin/su
exit
Once I removed the root, the OTA update would just come up? Is there a difference between unrooting and returning my phone to stock? How to go back To stock - Android Forums.
Samsung Fascinate : Week Back Button Randomly
Oct 3, 2010Have had this phone for just a couple hours and as I was getting it set up I noticed that the back button started acting up. Randomly the haptic feedback on it is weak, only about half strength. Anyone else have this problem? Should I exchange it?

I have 4 things set up in locale
1) turn on silent when at work
2) turn on Wi-fi when at home
3) turn on silent 6:30PM to 7:30PM (when getting my son to bed)
4) turn on silent 11PM to 8AM (so no emails are waking me!) number 2 works fine, the problem however is with the silent ones, ALL of them never go back to the default (ringer at full volume) when the time is up or when I'm away from the location. any ideas? I don't have GPS on, but the distance from home to work is large so it can't think I'm still anywhere near there plus that won't affect the time related ones.
Motorola Droid :: 3G/1x Switching Back / Forth Area?
Nov 16, 2009I'm a noob to the whole smartphone with data thing. Is it normal for my phone to switch in and out of 3G in an area that the verizon map shows as being a 3G area? At home I seem to stay on the 3G fairly constantly, but at work (which is at the edge of coverage) and especially while driving I seem to drop 3G quite a bit. It makes playing Slacker in the car not worth while. Just wondering if this is "just the way it is" or if I may have an issue.

Sep 14, 2010I had updated my DX to 2.2 a few weeks ago without rooting and DESPISE the new Swype keyboard in 2.2. It's smaller, white, and doesn't seem to work as well as the one installed on 2.1 on the DX which is black and seemed to have bigger keys to Swype to on the keyboard. How can I revert back to the old Swype keyboard that I had on 2.1 but keep 2.2 installed? I was told to move the Swype.apk file from 2.1 to the system/app directory in addition to the old lib file to the lib directory and then reboot the phone. The only problem is when I try to paste those files over, it won't let me. I'm guessing I need to be rooted to have access to those directories? What's the easiest way to root a 2.2 Droid X? Also, I was told the files need to be given special permissions. Is there an easier way to install the Swype from the DX running 2.1 onto a DX running the first leak of 2.2 for the DX?

Oct 11, 2010I have an HTC Hero, rooted, latest Cyanogen with LauncherPro Plus. But I don't know if it's a rooted issue so I posted here. Sometimes scrolling slows to a crawl, sometimes it takes a minute to go back to the home screen, LauncherPro crashes a lot, the lock screen takes a few seconds to unlock. Other times all of that zips through. It's maddening About 24 megs of free storage on phone. What could it be? And the phone reboots a lot on its own also.

I understand i can go between two activities by invoking an intent and then returning with setResult(). What I want to know is how to jump between multiple activities. Specifically I want to learn about the process life-cycle. I understand how every activity is started ar onCreated(), but I'm not sure how to implement onResume() or onRestart() when I want to come back. So basically I have 3 activities: Activity1, Activity2 and Anctivity3. I start with Activity1 and then invoke Activity2 with an Intent, and Activity2 invokes Activity3. Using buttons. Now I want to come back to Activity1 from Activity3. I do the same thing here too. Make an Intent and call startActivity(Activity1_Intent). But it gives a runtime error.I think I need to implement OnResume() or onRestart(), but I'm not sure how to do this. In onCreate() I make a gridView, so when I come back, do I need to make that gridView again? If anybody could give a small explanation of refer to a tutorial it would be great.
