View 1 RepliesThis was listed under the "Samsung Galaxy S" sub-forum but would it also apply to the Fascinate and other US variants of the phone as well?
GPS issues?
If you read through that page there is a guy on there who is talking to someone at Clove Technology who is supposedly talking to someone from Samsung. What they are saying is that the fixes will be bundled with Froyo and hoping for an end of September update.
Does anybody know if you root will you still get the 2.2 update when it's released? I did root originally but decided to unroot because without 2.2 I can't do what I want anyway and I don't want to miss 2.2. Now if there were some cool custom ROM's it might be different......

View 3 Replies View Relatedand since the app is still there I cant root because my phone things I'm still rooted and I cant remove the app because I'm not rooted After looking around I will probably need the sbf file to resolve this issue.

View 21 Replies View RelatedBeen holding of rooting & upgrading to one of the custom froyo roms untill the offical release of froyo for desire. Quick question are we ok to root after this new froyo update or will the new froyo update patch this proccess in someway to prevent us from doing us ....? if so i may do now so i dont lose ability to root.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been wanting to root my phone for a while, but I haven't had the bills to do it. I saw unrevoked released what looks like a fail proof way of doing it and I'm seriously considering taking the plunge. I'm debating whether or not to root it now or wait to see if this "possible" froyo update comes out later this month.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a desire which is updated to froyo and has the new 2.10.405.2 update which is OTA installed on it ( not to sure what the update was for something about RUS keyboard) anyway I was wondering if any of this will effect me rooting my phone and if it is worth rooting seeing as I already have froyo with sense but I was thinking stick vanilla froyo on there to make it faster or a different rom, will doing this make my phone faster and less prone to crashing sense all the time which is what happens now.
Also any risks involved with rooting froyo? Also I have a fully unbranded desire and can sumone suggest a good rom to flash?
I am not responsible if this does not work for your case or if you damage your phone in any way. This information is provided to attempt to help other people in the community that were having the same issues I was for the OTA. The way I did my OTA and got root back is this: (simplified version)
- install unrevoked 3, and unrevoked forevor (s-off)
- wait for OTA message
- click install later
- reboot into recovery
- do nand backup
- find and download stock 2.1 recovery zip file
http://adrynalyne.us/?p=41 (stock recovery is here)
- find and download (to a different location) clockworks mod zip file
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/forever
(near the bottom of the page)
- place stock 2.1 recovery file on root of sd card
- reboot into hboot
- hboot will ask to install recovery update
- click yes
- reboot back to OS
- wait for OTA message
- click install now
- wait for 10-30 minutes while phone does OTA update
- place clockworksmod zip file onto root of sd card (overwriting/deleting the 2.1 stock zip file in the process)
- reboot into Hboot
- when asked allow hboot to update recovery again
- reboot phone
- uninstall any old super user program you had on your phone
- install this new one using the information on this link

You should now have wonderful froyo with root!
I don't know why but I have everything there after update to froyo but nothing that needs root will work. Su is there but root explorer or WiFi will not work.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI have followed every guide that I can find. I cannot get my phone to either receive the OTA update and I cannot get it to update manually. This is the error that I get:
assert failed: file_getprop ("/system/build.prop","ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon/inc/inc/inc:2.1-update1/ERE27/161494:user/release-keys" || file.getprop ("/system.build.prop","ro.build.fingerprint") == "verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I had a stock Incredible that I rooted with Unrevoked3. I then ran Unrevoked Forever on it and then downgraded to remove root. I placed the 2.2 Update on the sdcard and went through the recovery menu to select it and then try to install it. The above error is what I get everytime I try to update. This is also the same error I got when I tried to accept the OTA when I was rooted (in my grogginess in the morning when I woke up and saw the OTA, I just kept hitting ok having completely forgotten about my phone being rooted). I don't know much about coding other than the little I use to do with Java/C++/HTML in school, but what I am getting out of this is my phone does not like the 2.2 update file. I am assuming that it may have an MD5 Hash in verifying/installing the file that it does not like?
So I just rooted my HTC desire but I didn't install a new ROM. Why you may ask because all I wanted to do is install most apps to my SD card because my SD card getting full. I didn't install a ROM because I found out that froyo was not offering this and I had not updated to it but when I try to update I get a quarter of the way thought installing when the bar disappears and a yellow triangle appears behind the android.
I suspect this is because of root. I would very much like to keep with OTA updates if possible. So what would you recommend I do? Proceed with unrooting or update with a RUU or something else?
(FYI I called Talus (my carrier) and they said if the OTA update dose not work after I do a factory reset (already tried) then I could send it in for repair, so I would assume that would reset all the software on my phone thus not being rooted. Would this be an option as my phone is under warranty or would stock ROM but rooted still void it?
When the 2.2 update will be available for the Samsung Fascinate on Verizon?

I am going to root and lag tomorrow. If I do this (since I'm on stock ROM) will I be able to recieve the OTA's? I want to get rid of all the bloat but I still want to recieve the OTA/2.2.
View 20 Replies View RelatedNow that we know this phone is getting an early/mid September release.
I have a few questions:
Do you think GPS will work on the phone out of the box?
Do you think Froyo and Flash will come pre-installed?
I hear the phone only has 2GB of onboard memory, but is there a microSD card that is pre-installed? If so, how much space is on it?
I know, there are lots who are against one click roots. that said, I'm not fully sure I know why, and before I use ANY root method- I must be the slowest person on earth, I have been thinking about and considering and backing off from rooting for what seems like ages- I want to know everything I can about it. so, does the program work for the fascinate? is there a good reason NOT to try it? also- how hard is it (with any root method) to take the phone back to stock? yes, I know there is info on how to do this- I am not looking for detailed instructions- more like, opinions. how easy is it, did someone get hung up on any particular part of these processes, etc. honestly, I have the root files on my computer already for normal root- but keep chickening out. on the one hand, I hate the thought of voiding warranty on purpose- on the other hand, in all the years I have had phones and computers and other electronics, I have only ONCE had to use warranty, and then they said it was void anyway because they did not believe that the problem was due to a manufacturing problem(which it was) and I STILL had to pay for the repair. that all said, I get closer each day to rooting but I continue researching the subject (including the after rooting what to do stuff)
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install the 1click root but it is not working. It shows my phone connected but then restarts the phone to make sure the push will work. When my phone restarts it tries to push everything during the restart and of course it does not show my phone connected anymore.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was just curious if you did a factory reset would you lose root? And what would happen if you froze bloat with TiBU once you did the reset. Im not planning on doing this but I was just curious what would happen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo in accordance with a deodexed ROM, is it possible to simply use Root Explorer to delete all of the .odex files under /system/app and lighten up our current ROM or is there something else that goes into deodexing?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted my phone and I am now having problems with mms pictures messages when I am on wifi. When I hit send, I see the 3g icon pop up but it never turns colors like data is actually being transfered then it goes away. When I look at the message details, it says status pending and it never sends. If I turn off wifi, it sends fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUpdate: I realized later that "EASY" might be a bit of a stretch. This guide is easy for anyone already experienced with adb (ie. rooted other android phones). I will update this thread as the methods get easier and easier. I have also attached a screenshot of my command prompt as I entered all of the commands so you can see the appropriate commands and follow the guide through.I followed the guide here: http://rootzwiki.com - How to Root the Samsung Fascinate and it worked flawlessly. I just posted this over at XDA as well.Took me less than 5 minutes.Download the SDK here if you don't have it already: Android SDK | Android Developers.
