I was just curious if you did a factory reset would you lose root? And what would happen if you froze bloat with TiBU once you did the reset. Im not planning on doing this but I was just curious what would happen.

My wife's phone needs to be returned because of continuous dropped calls. I did root her phone, but that's about. Will doing a factory reset be fine or do I have to un-root before returning? Also, does anyone know if doing a factory reset would improve the reception? Seems VZW hasn't been able to resolve the issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently my the screen stoped working on my phone so I pulled the battery to get it back working. After I put it back in the phone was completely reset, no contacts, no messages, no email, no downloads. I use google sync to recover all my contacts and such but when I cut the phone off and cut it back on again it is completely reset again and this trends continues time and time again. . and to make matters worse its saying that I have zero internal memory to install my apps again from the marketplace.

View 5 Replies View RelatedLong time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself.And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. It's a X-Touch tablet X714 as the back case says and DFP7006.... anyway i don't mind what the heck it is.. problem is:
It's been working satisfactory for half an year and yesterday i installed BusyBox Pro, dsploit and Flappy Birds.apk from unknown sources... so than battery died (it dies in 3hrs) and today when i charged it up it booted to factory erased mode (cold or hard boot i guess you call). I didn't mind it at all, started installing apps from SD but there was not enough space, actually not even a bit of storage. Now every time i boot my tablet it keeps erasing. Strangely enough i found mojang folder in the mnt/sdcard/ directory which i could access with built in file explorer.... So tablet didnt actually erased everything, but rather just denied my permission to use them and any free internal memory..
Does system recovery "Wipe data/factory reset" resets custom kernel to stock?
I'm asking this because im noob, and I want to try JellyBlast for Galaxy GT-S5570I. It has two zip files to flash one is ROM, and one is custom kernel. If I do something wrong I'm afraid that I won't be able to restore nandroid backup.
Fascinate is factory resetting itself at random times, seems to be occurring only when corporate outlook account is added to the phone. started happening last night, the phone reboot itself and reformatted the drives, so upon reboot everything was erased. I re setup the phone and it did it again like an hour later. I re setup the phone a second time, only I did not add the work outlook email and it went all day long today without resetting. I'm worried if I add the work email account the phone will reset again. BTW the work email account was on the phone before with zero issues.

If i select 3 - wipe data/factory reset will that only do a "factory reset" If i select apply sdcard:update. zip, in Clockworkmod i get another option to wipe data/factory reset Which is the one i should use? and by doing so is this equivalent to "Factory Reset" within Android (selecting the factory reset check box)?
So I was trying to reboot my phone--I turned it off, then in a attempt to boot it back up, I held down the power button for a bit, perhaps longer than I should have. Maybe I even pressed it a few times, I dunno. The next thing I saw was it asking for my password. I had just set up my Outlook account (I knew other had problems with this) and I was required to add a password for security. After entering the password, the next thing I knew it was hard resetting! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Of course I had just gotten the phone set up how I wanted it.
Am I the only one who made this mistake? Whose brilliant idea was it to program a hard reset to launch by simply holding the power button for a few seconds? Of course there's no way to undo a factory reset. Needless to say, I am VERY unhappy right now.
if I factory reset, will I need to re-activate the phone? ande how do I do that if I need to? I don't remember the codes that it wanted. asking cause somewho thed phone wont stay on one screen vfo more than a second

View 45 Replies View RelatedAfter having a few quirky things happen with my phone over the past week since I got it (lost time, notifications are intermittment), Verizon suggested that I Factory Reset my Fascinate. So now, not sure I am going crazy, but my phone seems slower. Just unlocking with the puzzle piece has a lag and moving from screen to screen seems to be slower.Should this be possible? I thought it would be the other way around. From what I recall, it was screaming fast before I did the reset. Should I do it again?
View 23 Replies View RelatedHas anyone had trouble keeping the Fascinate paired with a GM vehicle factory bluetooth? We have two vehicles at work (2010 GMC Sierra and 2010 Buick of some sort) and both vehicles pair and stay paired to the Fascinate. However, once you leave the vehicle and come back later, the phone doesn't automatically pair back to the vehicle. You have to go through the entire pairing process again.
We have confirmed that the GM vehicle paring works fine with a Droid X and all sorts of different Blackberries. Any thoughts?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI know, there are lots who are against one click roots. that said, I'm not fully sure I know why, and before I use ANY root method- I must be the slowest person on earth, I have been thinking about and considering and backing off from rooting for what seems like ages- I want to know everything I can about it. so, does the program work for the fascinate? is there a good reason NOT to try it? also- how hard is it (with any root method) to take the phone back to stock? yes, I know there is info on how to do this- I am not looking for detailed instructions- more like, opinions. how easy is it, did someone get hung up on any particular part of these processes, etc. honestly, I have the root files on my computer already for normal root- but keep chickening out. on the one hand, I hate the thought of voiding warranty on purpose- on the other hand, in all the years I have had phones and computers and other electronics, I have only ONCE had to use warranty, and then they said it was void anyway because they did not believe that the problem was due to a manufacturing problem(which it was) and I STILL had to pay for the repair. that all said, I get closer each day to rooting but I continue researching the subject (including the after rooting what to do stuff)

When I hit send, I see the 3g icon pop up but it never turns colors like data is actually being transfered then it goes away. When I look at the message details, it says status pending and it never sends. If I turn off wifi, it sends fine.

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt seems that rooting the Fascinate and fixing the Google Search issue on the soft key and removing some bloatware is pretty easy, and I'm actually contemplating it once I get a Fascinate. Here are my questions: If I root the phone, I would not get OTA updates, when 2.2 came out? I would have to remove the root in order to get that OTA update to 2.2? To remove the root, I would enter the following into a command prompt on the phone or on my PC?

I messed up with root for my sf. It turns on normally but it just keeps making me force quit twlauncher, and bunch of stuff so I have no access to my phone. How do I fix this?
