I am getting a new phone because mine got broken in half. I am torn between the X and the Fascinate. I am leaning toward the fascinate but want to know how to get google search on touchwiz because i don't want to switch launchers. I don't like adw or launcher pro. If I have to switch launchers to get google, I'll just get the X.

I hear that the google search widget is blocked on the fascinate in the market place. Can't you just download it from the marketplace on another phone and copy it to the MicroSD and install it on the fascinate?

Deal breaker for me. I'll be keeping my DINC for a little while longer.
I saw this on another thread. Figured it would belong here well. Anyway, If you don't like the TouchWiz that Samsung has put on, you can follow this to disable it. This is tentative until someone can try it on a Fascinate for sure, but it should work. I have the system dump and the TouchWiz30Launcher.apk is a regular app under /system/app/. I may not be labelled as TWLauncher as on the video, but something similar to it. I will update as soon as I receive mine and more people doing it.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI originally rooted so I could remove the verizon bloat / crap. Then I realized I couldn't get OTA updates (and I'm not the type that wants to keep manually updating the ROM on my phone). So I did the "back to stock" flash that unroots the phone and grabbed the OTA update. Since then I've been using Launcher Pro just to hide the programs I don't like. Now, somewhere in this process, the touchwiz homescreen got killed. If I kill Launcher Pro, all I'm left with is a black screen with nothing on it. No TwLauncher dock, nothing. When the phone boots up initially, I'll have that black screen, then launcher pro and my wallpaper will appear over it as well. Any ideas how this happened? And could this hurt the operation of my phone?

Anyway I have never rooted i just installed [MOD] TouchWiz for Froyo FRF83 - xda-developers a touchwiz launcher and it works pretty good a little laggy at times but i want more features and widgets. I see this rom [ROM-MOD] Gefrost-R7 (25-08-10) Galaxy S Style 720p A2SD+, Touchwiz, Music mod - xda-developers but idk if thats installable on the evo? i have no idea how to tell if its compatible. And if anyone of u have link to a touchwiz rom let me know.

I was curious, can you link your contacts to people's Facebook pages like HTC can? The thing I like most is having their profile picture show when they call, rather than the standard Android logo. If someone can answer as soon as they can, that will be great seeing I will be picking up one of these phones tomorrow!

1) Is there a way to load the keyboard when in contacts to type in the person's name to do quick searches instead of clicking the letter on the side or scrolling all the time?
2) When groups are created in Google contacts through gmail, it will appear on the phone, but it will not list the contacts in that group on the phone as it does on gmail's contacts. When trying to do it on the phone itself, when click on add contact for the group, it only lists contacts that are not assigned. How to I configure this?
When I use Bing voice search, I always get the following message "due to a temporary connection or service issue, we can't get results. Please try again later." This has been an issue over the last 10 days or so. Anyone else have this problem? I brought it to Verizon tech and they couldn't figure it out. Google voice search works fine. I speak loudly and clearly in a quiet environment, using different search terms.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use this button all the time on my DINC for voice commands, usually things like locate .... and it pops up google maps and shows me what I'm looking for. Since Bing is the search engine of choice on the Fascinate, what function will holding down the button serve? Will it still allow Google Voice commands? If not, I think that's a deal breaker for me.

I setup my @gmail account and one of my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app and regular email app on my phone. I like using the gmail app as my email app since it auto syncs and you dont have to open and wait for sync like you do w/ the regular email app.Now I can't setup my @myprivatedomain.com emails in the gmail app. I don't understand on the Adroid phones why email setup is so hard. I had one hell of a time on the X and Inc setting up email. Very buggy and intermittent does anyone know what "your phone may not be provisioned for data services" means?

I bought a Fascinate yesterday and I have two google accounts.The primary one works fine. However the second one has a calendar that's not being picked up by my phone.Under 'Accounts and sync 'Manage accounts there only 'Sync contacts' and 'Sync Gmail' but no 'Sync Calendar' like I can with my primary account.I set up the calendar in Google and got the mobile part registered and received the code and it says it's working...the phone just isn't realizing it's there.
