Samsung Fascinate :: How To Position Cursor In Text Box?

How do you position the cursor in a text box? Evidently, some of the other Galaxy S models have an alternate keypad pop up when you press and hold the ?123 key in a text box.I have not been able to make it work on my Fascinate. See this article for details and do a search for "?123": Galaxy S Tips and Tricks (works w/ Captivate, Epic 4G, Fascinate, Vibrant)Is there some other method to accurately position the cursor as shown above?

When i try to edit and already stored notepad ,i see the cursor at the end of first line.I want to make it appear to the end of the text.Please help me in this.

Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that the volume and power buttons are positioned at the same level on opposite sides of the phone? When I try to hit the power button I usually hit the volume button as well because of the positioning so my ringer goes from vibrate to on or changes volume. The power button really should have been up top.

I want to read my cursor position so that, after a tap, I can convert the screen x,y coordinates to a Geopoint for distance calculations.I found a snippet to convert x,y coordinates to a Geopoint and probably could use Projection instead, but how do I input those screen x,y values in the first place? This is probably straightforward, but I'm confused.The class Cursor seems to be something different than what I need

My user can flick through a set of records.I save the last seen record _ID in Preferences, so that they can start off from where they left when they access the application next time.The cursor that I have extracts _ID field too.However, I don't know how to move cursor to that particular row.The following functions of the cursor need a specific position to go to :- The _ID may not be sequential (due to deletes etc).Any way to do this?

Why is the text cursor not there when using Swype? If I type a paragraph and need to change a word, I need to be able to put a cursor right where the word is so I can edit/delete/replace the word. Since it's invisible. Is this a problem or is there a different mechanism to achieve that in Swype?

I'd like to know if there's any way to edit the Text by 'dragging' the cursor to the letter you want, rather than switching to the Swype-Edit screen and using the arrows there? Something like what's present on the iPhone(magnifies the text as you drag your finger to move the cursor along).

With Text Messages (SMS) -
Is there a way to either:
a) set the native text appl so that there is no content preview in the notification bar, or
b) with Handcent still have the special puzzle piece show up on your lock screen when you have a new text message?
I really liked how that puzzle piece showed up but now it is gone and I suspect it is ever since I installed Handcent and I don't know how to get it back.
Follow up question -- if I go back to the native text app, is there a way to increase the font size of incoming and outgoing messages? I don't want to have to put my reading glasses on everytime I get a text.

I accidentally hit the speaker on the keyboard while in text mode a few times and I just assumed it was for searching BING. Last night I hit it and decided to try to search with it.... but instead what I said got typed into the text that was open!!!! I was blown away! So then I started texting my Bro-In-Law via voice and although it's not perfect, it is very neat! I wish I could read to it and train it better on my Pittsburgh-ees, but if I pause at each word and announciate, it is almost perfect. I just cant talk totally normal. All in all, that is a super cool feature that WinMobilePro could not match.... no way no how. Me likes!

it sounds like most of my concerns have been covered. able to download Google Navigation, add Google Voice Search button to home screen, trash Bing widget. But my questions are in regards to the text entry boxes and the browser. In the browser where you go to type the URL, there is a MIC button, right? If I press that, what voice search does it use? Does the stock browser use Bing Voice Search? Would I need a different browser to be able to utilize Google Voice Search within my browser? Same with sending text messages, emails... anywhere there is a text entry box. Do these boxes that pop up the keyboard and present you with a MIC button use Bing Voice or Google Voice to enter the text?

Anyone have this issue where some people do not get your sent text messages? I seem to receive text messages without problems but sending text messages does not get to certain people. One colleague at work who is on ATT can send me a text but does not receive mine in return. Similar stories for some other contacts of mine and some are on Verizon as well.

Didnt see an existing thread on this; sorry if this is a repeat.By default the SF stores 200 texts per conversation and 20 multimedias per conversion. However, that value can in both cases be adjusted up to 5000. Might be excessive but here's how if you haven't already done it: Open Messaging App>Menu>Settings>Text Message Limit>Tap the number and put in 5000>Set and you're done. **If you put in a value greater than 5000 it still ends up as 5000; must be the limit** With 5000 thats gonna be some really long threads but oh well.

So I was in the middle of typing a text message and wasn't able to finish it. When I closed out I got a message saying, "sent to drafts" Now for the life of me I can't seem to locate where that saved draft went on my samsung fascinate? Any ideas on where this mystery draft is at? Thus far the phone has been very, very intuitive except for this.
