Samsung Fascinate :: Browser And Text Entry Boxes?

it sounds like most of my concerns have been covered. able to download Google Navigation, add Google Voice Search button to home screen, trash Bing widget. But my questions are in regards to the text entry boxes and the browser. In the browser where you go to type the URL, there is a MIC button, right? If I press that, what voice search does it use? Does the stock browser use Bing Voice Search? Would I need a different browser to be able to utilize Google Voice Search within my browser? Same with sending text messages, emails... anywhere there is a text entry box. Do these boxes that pop up the keyboard and present you with a MIC button use Bing Voice or Google Voice to enter the text?

Is it me or is the text entry a bit rubbish when browsers are in Landscape mode:
Often when I use it the text box shoots to top of screen so that You can't actually see what you are typing:

Thought this issue was down to my keyboard app but have been using it in opera last few days and was ok.
Then as soon as back in DHD it starts running slowly again. I'm on desire with 2.2

Can't find a way to default to google when adding calendar events. Have to manually go in and change from "my calendar" to my google account. Any way around this?

when i am composing a text message, sometimes the box of the entry goes larger and goes back smaller, is there a way to increase the text entry box size, say, double tap on it to bring up a whole screen text entry area?

I played with the Fascinate today for more than an hour at VZW. I LOVE IT. My only question is related to the calendar. On my D1 I have many more widget choices including the calendar. This widget displays on my home screen and always shows my next appointment whether it is today or in a week. The next calender entry always shows. This is not the case for the Fascinate. It has a nice widget that shows weather, stocks, and at the bottom appointments. It only shows today's appointments. I downloaded a calender widget app that was nice and may work but it would not open so I don't know.
Now the question: Can any of you guys with the fascinate comment on a widget that allows the widget to display the next entry on the calendar. To be clear on my D1, if I have no calendar entries for today, my 10am meeting tomorrow shows up on the widget with a time and date. Can one do this with the Fascinate.

My question is, "Is Dolphin HD browser (or any other browser) better than/or worth using in place of the Samsung Fascinate's stock browser?"
I haven't found any direct answers to this question. I found lots of posts recommending the Dolphin HD browser, but that was compared to older android phones stock browsers.
I've had my fascinate for about two weeks now, and don't have a problem with the browser, but was wondering what other people's opinions are of the fascinate's vs other browsers. Always looking to make the phone better/faster.

for some reason, handcent, chomp and sense all have the gray text boxes and bar at the top. no matter what 'skin' or 'theme', the apps just don't have black. that's all i want. they're all fast enough and cool enough but none of them are all black. if anyone knows a setting i'm missing, please tell me. everything else on my evo is black.

When im creating the graphical user interface and apply padding (10dp) to the left and right sides of the email text box the padding dosent actually apply. Here are the current settings.

My browser shuts off and returns to the home screen when I'm browsing the net. I have only had my phone for three days and other than the battery life, I have had no other problems.

Anyone else had issues with the trackpad since the T-mob OTA update to .11? Just notice today on webpages the trackpad doesnt always like going left in text boxes when trying to correct text. Happened in my Yahoo mail, google and works employee site area. Was fine last week before the update came.

Is there something I am not finding, I like to have Google as my home page and at times I want to bounce back to the home Google page to start a new search, I have to go back to my favorites and pull the google page back from there. Is there a trick to make the browser go back to the established home page from within the standard browser interface so that it is not a multiple click task?

Coming from an iPhone to the Fascinate, I've noticed that the pinch to zoom feature in the browser auto-fits the text after the zoom in. On my iPhone that didn't happen. I can see where auto-fit would come in handy, but there are times I don't want the layout of the site to change. I just want to zoom it a little - I'll happily finger scroll to the left, right, up, or down to read something.
Is there a way to disable the auto-fit on the zoom-in for the stock browser? I know there are other browsers out there, but I'm asking about the stock browser.
Perhaps this is a feature coming in 2.2?

Don't you hate it when you view a website and it's the Mobile version, but you want the full Desktop page? Just follow this. You will have to do it once in a while when it goes back to Mobile view.

I don't know if this is possible on the X, but how do I calibrate the touch screen? I've noticed two things that are beginning to drive me crazy. The first is that it is so sensitive at times, if I pass my finger over a button without actually touching the screen, it thinks I pressed it and executes the function. Second, I noticed that the spot I touch actually is off a bit so when I try to hit a link from a list (such as a thread here) it will pick the one above it.

I designed the user interface of my app on the emulator and then I installed it on the Nexus one. For some reason the text boxes, labels buttons etc. have shrink in size. It looks as if the view has been zoomed out on the phone. If I arrange it correctly on the phone the objects don't fit on the emulator. Has anyone faced this? Is there some setting to have consistency between the look of the emulator and Nexus One.

With Text Messages (SMS) -
Is there a way to either:
a) set the native text appl so that there is no content preview in the notification bar, or
b) with Handcent still have the special puzzle piece show up on your lock screen when you have a new text message?
I really liked how that puzzle piece showed up but now it is gone and I suspect it is ever since I installed Handcent and I don't know how to get it back.
Follow up question -- if I go back to the native text app, is there a way to increase the font size of incoming and outgoing messages? I don't want to have to put my reading glasses on everytime I get a text.

How do you position the cursor in a text box? Evidently, some of the other Galaxy S models have an alternate keypad pop up when you press and hold the ?123 key in a text box.I have not been able to make it work on my Fascinate. I accidentally hit the speaker on the keyboard while in text mode a few times and I just assumed it was for searching BING. Last night I hit it and decided to try to search with it.... but instead what I said got typed into the text that was open!!!! I was blown away! So then I started texting my Bro-In-Law via voice and although it's not perfect, it is very neat! I wish I could read to it and train it better on my Pittsburgh-ees, but if I pause at each word and announciate, it is almost perfect. I just cant talk totally normal. All in all, that is a super cool feature that WinMobilePro could not match.... no way no how. Me likes!
