I had a droid rooted and now I'm finally going to root my X. I was going to use the one click root because I honestly just don't want to deal with a lot of hassle. I read that the universal one click root doesn't work if I am already running Froyo. Is there a one click option that I can use?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI know, there are lots who are against one click roots. that said, I'm not fully sure I know why, and before I use ANY root method- I must be the slowest person on earth, I have been thinking about and considering and backing off from rooting for what seems like ages- I want to know everything I can about it. so, does the program work for the fascinate? is there a good reason NOT to try it? also- how hard is it (with any root method) to take the phone back to stock? yes, I know there is info on how to do this- I am not looking for detailed instructions- more like, opinions. how easy is it, did someone get hung up on any particular part of these processes, etc. honestly, I have the root files on my computer already for normal root- but keep chickening out. on the one hand, I hate the thought of voiding warranty on purpose- on the other hand, in all the years I have had phones and computers and other electronics, I have only ONCE had to use warranty, and then they said it was void anyway because they did not believe that the problem was due to a manufacturing problem(which it was) and I STILL had to pay for the repair. that all said, I get closer each day to rooting but I continue researching the subject (including the after rooting what to do stuff)

When my phone restarts it tries to push everything during the restart and of course it does not show my phone connected anymore.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI tried the one click root on my fascinate. It was successful and the phone rebooted. After it started up, it kept making noise like it was ringing and wouldn't stop. Also now when I send texts, it will send them but it wont show them in the screen. Also the browser says page not available and every time I download from the market it says download failed. Also I have no 3G connection and time is wrong.

Download and use a program called Android Central Sideload Wonder Machine. It's a one click solution, works amazingly on the Captivate and requires no hassle. The program claims to work on un-rooted phones (though mine is rooted).My girlfriend's Captivate is not rooted though so I will test this out on her phone as well to confirm it. Check it out though. I've already gone to town with this and it works great.

Afterwards, for good measure, I removed then reinstalled "EXT2 Tools." Every time I've tried to install the V2 lag fix, I get an error (redoing OCLF V1+, however, appears to work fine).

Universal Eris Root for Dummies! You're not dummies, of course. But if you thought Jcase's spin on the new wag3slav3 rooting method was minimalist, this variation of it should help the fence-sitters and tech-intimidated join the world of Eris root.
- Zero typing!
- No SDK Installs!
- No USB Driver Installs!
- No Command Lines!
- No PC Needed! A Phone-only Rooting method!
Basically this is just a repackaging of the wag3slav3 method (as modified by jcase) into a form which allows you to do everything from the Eris without using a PC, and without any typing - just tap the Eris' screen in all the right places. For experts who are already have successfully set up the SDK and USB drivers, and are comfortable with the command line and adb, it is probably faster to just use the manual method. This method was created for the folks who have had trouble with, or are intimidated by, those things. Or, for those times when you want to help someone root their Eris without schlepping a "dev station" to their location.

Universal Androot is one of the newer 1-click methods to rooting a whole lineup of devices and one of them happens to be the Droid X. We had been holding out a little on posting this until there were methods available for creating backups using something like Clockwork Recovery and since Koush just released that option, it was time.
*Note 1* This needs to be done before updating to android 2.2. This method does not currently work on droid x froyo. Instructions *Warning*. Just a reminder that rooting VOIDS your warranty and could potentially do permanent damage to your device. This is not a recommended practice and you do so at your own risk.
1. Download and install Universal Androot to your Droid X: Download Link
2. Open it and tap the Root button.
3. Your phone will now run through a series of commands.
4. When it finishes, it will tell you that you are rooted.
5. Reboot your phone and BAM!Rooted Droid X.
I just root my DX with universal androot is so easy just one click but my ? Is how can I install ROM or used ROM Manager.

What exactly happens when I root with universal androot? I don't think I'm going to need any ROM's would just be nice to get some of the root exclusive apps. If I don't add any ROM's or anything it isn't risky or anything right.

I have a very simple listview going on. The list just consists of strings, when you click the string it opens a new activity blah blah. Here's the problem, I enabled settextfilter and while it did filter the list, when you click the result, it always performs the action of the string located at zero, and not the one it is supposed to.

This information is currently being filtered out across all the relevant boards on the forum at the request of TheUnlockr and one of the Guides. I have no knowledge of the rooting process and suggest that you gather all information available before undertaking any changes to your device.
Could someone please suggest me a good/efficient way to communicate with the server. I could think of two options 1) Use http post methods to send data to a php script at the server which would later call the google api's written in another java program (jar)or use php to use google api's (if its possible) to find nearby restaurants and send the list back to client. 2) Use simple java socket programming. The server has a jar file that supports multi threading and it does the job of finding restaurants and sending the list.
