Does anyone have the same problem, I just got my Epic today and when I plugged it into my computer to charge it the touch screen doesn't work. Any workarounds that people know of?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI didn't worry about it till today. but i was useing my phone while it was charging. but it got pretty hot today. enough for me to go download a app to see the temp of the battery. it said like 108? and right before i took at battery 118? idk if its right but it was pretty hot. and i am sure its not good if its getting that hot. i was listening music through blue-tooth, on the internet with wifi and thats it really. i put it in the fridge for 5 mins hope that wont hurt it but i need help and what should i do to stop this? please let me know. im using the charger that came with it. it was got warm when i charge before but i dont think this much.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOk time for the next issue with this phone. Has anyone noticed a general lag between touch screen presses and actions/sounds?
The best examples are:
1) I type fast, and keep the click sound when I type. I can literally hear about a 1/4 second to 1/2 second lag between when I press the buttons and when the sound clicks.
2) Download any free piano or drum up and try to keep a steady beat. There's a nasty lag between when you tap the screen and when the sound comes out.
For comparison, the keyboard and piano app on my old iphone (3G no less), work perfectly. And my iPad is wonderfully smooth.
Is this a software issue, or a problem with my phone?
Musical Lite is a good sample program for free if anyone wants to try this out.
Does anyone else's touch screen become unresponsive when the Epic is being charged? My touch screen gets glitchy and only responds to a fraction of touches.
I just received mine yesterday and I've already spent more than 6 hours trying to troubleshoot this issue. Most of the google searches that I've found have to do with cheap 3rd party chargers, but I'm using the OEM Samsung charger.
I thought it might be the charger, so I went out and purchased 4 different chargers today, but none of them fix the issue.
I also ordered another Epic for my wife at the same time, and her Epic has the same problem, which suggests that it's not a defective phone (unless they both came from the same batch).
To confuse things even more, I've been able to isolate 2-3 outlets in the house where this problem doesn't happen. The problem also doesn't happen when I charge at work, through a car charger, or via USB from the laptop.
I'm inclined to think it has something to do with the outlets in the house. However, I've never heard of any issue like that and the house is relatively new (built in '98).
This is a HUGE problem!
During a call, when I put the phone by my left ear, my ear and/or my cheek touch the screen, and though one would expect the buttons on the touch screen to be disabled during a call, when held against the ear and the face, I keep accidentally hanging up calls or in some other occasions, muting, having frustrated monologues to myself, thinking that the other person is ignoring me...
I mentioned using the left ear, because, it seems to have always happened when I held the phone by my left ear and not when I held it by my right ear.
I'm trying to find a more elegant solution, as dropping numerous calls is not an option. (today I dropped more than 15 calls). Any suggestions?
Just like it says, when I plug my phone in at night to charge, after a bit the screen no longer responds to touch inputs until I unplug it.About the only exception is a tap to engage snooze in the AM. To unlock or answer a text I have to unplug it.
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust a quick question about the Captivate. I just got myself an HTC Aria and I love how easy it is to use the touch screen on it. Its extremely responsive. Now my sister has the SamSung Instinct on Sprint and the touch screen is horrible compared to HTCs touch on the Aria. Im thinking about taking the HTC back to AT&T and getting the Samsung Captivate. I am just worried about the touch screen on it and if it will be like the Instincts? If the touch is as good as HTCs Ill get it. If its not, then Ill stick with the Aria because despite its size, its an extremely fun and responsive phone. Any thoughts?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIn pitch darkness I want my screen to be really dim,in order not to get the glare etc. However even when adjusting the screen brightness level to its lowest it is still very bright for a dark light setting. Is there any way, maybe through an app, that I can make the Epic even dimmer?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got pretty good guessing the touch buttons one they time out, but still annoying as I did miss sometimes.Well just now, I decided to do something about it.A real quick poke through the phone revealed a very easy fix.The path is here.Settings[Sound & Display[Keyboard timeout[Same as Screen timeout my screen timeout is 1 min.As we all know, and I verified this. The keyboard backlight only turns on when the slider is open. Now the touch-sensitive buttons will infact stay lit as long as you would need them, while the screen is on .Life just got a little easier B)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI like many of you have been waiting for months to get my hands on the epic. However when I bought one, the battery life was insanely unusable even after 4-5 days. So I finally returned it for a new on. Well find out over the next few days how the battery performs. But the new one has capacitive buttons that barely respond to touch. Particularly the home key and menu key. I've read of a bunch of people having similar problems. Are we just a few unlucky people who happen to be on the forums, or is Samsung having serious Quality control issues here?

How do I get the screen on my Captivate to turn off (and stay off) while I have it plugged in? As it stands, my screen dims, but does not turn off. If I hit the power button, it will turn off, but as soon as I get a notification it will turn back on and stay on. I have the screen settings set to turn my screen off after being idle for 30 seconds. This works, but only when it is not plugged in.
View 1 Replies View RelatedEverytime i reboot my phone, I get bunch of problems with my phone. when I try to open the phone dialer I get a force close on com.google.process.acore. Sometimes it completely prevents me from using the phone.
Then on occasion the phone freaks out and shuts the screen off, but leaves the navigation lights on the bottom of the phone. At that point the phone is completely unusable for about 1-2minutes. Sometimes when it comes back on, it starts rerunning the media scanner.
I'm pretty sure my home screen would do landscape with keyboard closed the first couple of days I had the phone and now it wont do it unless the keyboard is out. Anyone else have the same issue?

Then today it did it when I set it down on a table, and when I turned it back on the battery went from 42 to 12 percent. I then reset the phone and it was at 24 percent. Is anyone else having this problem? Could the battery just be losing contact?

I got a problem with my Samsung Galaxy, I can't make normal phone calls since all my sound goes threw the minijack plug. I've tried connecting and disconnecting earplugs over 9000 times but still nothing. powered it off and on a lot of times, removes batterij etc. nothing seems te work. My last desperate act is to reset it to factory settings, but before I'm doing that I'm asking if any of you have a better salution? when I'm in my car (bluethooth carkit) I can make normal calls aswell.

I've had my Epic for about a week and have noticed that from time to time that the screen flashes VERY briefly to the home screen/lock screen when inside an app.
It happens when I'm in the browser, email app, etc. There does not seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it.
My captivate external speaker plays music while I'm listening to the headphones, am I missing a setting to turn this off? Shouldn't the phone's external speaker not be playing music while I'm using my headphones? Sometimes the external speaker will remain silent while my headphones are working (as I would imagine should be the case) until I receive a text message, and then the external speaker will play music along with the headphones. Anyone think this could be a problem with my device? My 30 day period expires on Sept.5 so I am wondering if I should return it for an exchange?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWent into test mode to check out the battery. And through my curiosity went into the 'touch-fw update', and now I can't use my phone. I have the touchscreen lock so can't unlock it, otherwise maybe I could use the keyboard or the optical joystick to use the phone. Is there any way to fix this? I might attempt a hard reset, but saw on another forum, that it's unfixable. I bought it at Best Buy and they aren't even open tomorrow, would another Best Buy or Sprint store exchange it if I can't fix it?
