HTC EVO 4G :: Froyo / Tapping Event To View Details Wiping Out All Reminders

Aug 3, 2010

I use Google Calendar to organize my life, and rely on the email reminders to keep me from forgetting events and to know when to act on them. With 2.1 I had no issues, Google Calendar was synced to the stock HTC calendar app on EVO. I had the calendar set to view in "agenda" mode. Now since updating to Froyo, when I open the calendar app in agenda mode, the events have bell icons to the right of them, this is new. If I tap the event to open it and view the details of the event, when I return to the main agenda viewing mode of the calendar the bell is gone.

The phone then syncs with Google Calendar, and deletes all of the scheduled Email Reminders that I have set up for the event. This was not a problem with 2.1. No bells showed to the right of the events in agenda mode, and I could tap into the event to view the details without deleting email reminders on Google Calendar. With Froyo, by simply tapping the event to view the details it is effectively wiping out all reminders, rendering the calendar useless. This making me wish I had never updated to Froyo. The calendar and reminders are the single most important function on my phone, and with Froyo it seems to be incredibly flawed.

Samsung Epic 4G :: Need Calendar App That Shows Event Details In Week Mode

Sep 10, 2010

The default calendar app seems okay, but I like to see the event details, even if it's just 2 words in the "time box" in week view. I understand it can't do it for month view. It does it in the "day" view (when not in list) but I was curious if there was a better calendar app out on the market that did this?

Motorola Droid X :: Any Way To Prevent Froyo Update And Reminders?

Sep 14, 2010

It may seem crazy, but I have an app that I use for business purposes (ustream). They do not support 2.2. I emailed them and they quickly responded with grim news. Basically, they don't know if/when they will support Froyo. Qik vid doesn't do what I need it to do. Also, I hear there are many other apps that won't work with froyo. As good a an improvement Froyo is, it prevents me from doing what I do. Any way to prevent update and update reminders?

Android :: Which View / Layout Does Market Application (1.6) Details Activity Use?

Feb 26, 2010

I want to do something very similar (in terms of appearance) to the app details activity of the Market app. It looks like a cross between linear layout (not all rows the same), list (scrolling nature), preferences (headings). My guess is its a linear layout in a scroll view (ignoring activity header/footer) and the headings are just hard coded.

Android :: Haptic Feedback: OnClick() Event Vs HapticFeedbackEnabled In The View

May 13, 2010

If you want a button to provide haptic feedback (ie, the phone vibrates very briefly so you can feel that you really pushed the button), what's the standard way to do that?

It seems you can either explicitly set an onClick() event and call the vibrate() function, giving a number of milliseconds to vibrate, or you can set hapticFeedbackEnabled in the view.

The documentation seems to indicate that the latter only works for long-presses or virtual on-screen keys: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/View.html#performHapticFeedback(int)

If that's right, then I need to either make my button a virtual on-screen key or manually set the onClick() event.

Also, if I want the vibrating to happen immediately when the user's finger touches the button, as opposed to when their finger "releases" the button, what's the best way to accomplish that?

Android :: Mismatch Of Event Coordinates And View Coordinates

I've been trying to write a little application that recognizes custom events in Android: you hold your finger over a TextView for a certain length of time, and it changes color.I'm using the MotionEvent coordinates and checking if they are within the bounds of a particular TextView, which is within a table.I am just attaching the onTouch listener to the table within the activity. But I get weird errors: the coordinates seem to be off by one view (i.e. if I touch the view below the view above reacts); or sometimes one will react, and the other will not. Any idea what might be going on?

Is there a way to go to the top of a page in Chrome, by using a single tap? In iOS Safari this can be done by tapping on the top bar. The page will go to the top immediately. With Chrome I have to manually scroll up to the top of a page.

Actually the question is not only about Chrome, it's about Android in general. How can I have this functionality in the Mail.app for example? I have only seen that in the Blinkfeed of the HTC One M8 only.

HTC Incredible :: Control Music App With Tapping / Shaking?

Aug 25, 2010

I would love a music app that could be controlled with the phone still in my pocket. Sometimes I'm working in the yard with gloves on, dirty, sweaty, and the last thing I want to do is take my glove off, pull the phone out of my pocket and get it dirty while trying to skip. I know there are headphones w/controls but that would still be tough with gloves. Tapping would be awesome.
Something like:
One tap for pause
Two for play
Three for next song
etc

Maybe even use hard or soft taps. Or tap-wait-tap to avoid controlling it by accidental bumps.

Anything out there like this? Is it even possible to write an app that does this?
