The problem is when I create a contact # I later on come to check on that contact # and I get many repeats of that same # in the form of a text and a cell #. Is there an option to disable it because it pisses me off.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my droid eris recently and I am loving this thing but yesterday I sat down to slowly enter all my contacts into the eris and I noticed something. There is no contact list, am I wrong? Because I have spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out where the contacts are on this thing and its just not there. By contacts I don't mean something complicated, I mean literally a button on or in the phone that will take me to a window which will allow me to enter a name and a number, and then will show me in alphabetical order, simple as that. I cant find it.

I've just got my Wildfire and I'm pretty much satisfied, there's one thing that bothers me though. When I press the "phone" button, the list of contacts appears with a keypad. Everything's fine except for the fact, that I have all my contacts doubled - it displays those from the phone memory as well as those from the sim card. Now - this does not apply to the regular "people" list. in its menu, you can tap "view" and select the items you want to see. so I unchecked "Sim" and "Google" contacts and all I have is a neat list of phone contacts. I cannot find any such option for the phone list. Yes, I could use the "contacts" list to find people but there's another problem - it does not offer this awesome filtering by keypad that is present in the "phone" list. I can only open the keypad and type exact parts of people's names using either standard input or t9. what happens in the "phone" list, is that it seeks for contacts already on basis of the keypad button you've pressed. for example, in order to type Tom using normal input, you have to press 8 6 6 6 6. In the 'phone' list you only have to press 8 and 6. all in all, the best thing would be to have both worlds combined. but the easiest way to solve my problem would be simply to disable SIM contacts from the regular phone list. Otherwise I'll have to delete them from my simcard, which is not the best solution.

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. For example, my son Adam shows up twice in the contact list in text messaging, but only once when I press contacts from my home page.

Phone Bloke is checking with O2 whether they are serious.In the meatime, I'd like to disable 2g data connections.I can't find a way to do that.

Everything else in 1.6.3.3 seems to be behaving quite well for me, even taking pictures.Haven't had the pixelated or no image thing at all.Is there something I am missing that I could try ?

To send an SMS I can only select "Send SMS to mobile" from the contacts list, then the contact gets added. Any ideas? I am running only 1.5 and have installed just a few apps lately (Jorte, smooth calendar, battery widget, voice recorder, compass, Quick settings, oi notepad)

2 Is there any app that can take phone to speakerphone mode when I answer it during car drive?
I import VCF's with contact details from the company intranet into google contacts to get the details to my Magic (Vodafone, Android 1.6). This works just fine but the pictures get messed up:
Picture of person A ends up connected to the picture of person B or C. Pictures don't show up when dialing or incoming calls are received, they only show up when searching. Please note: in google contacts all looks fine. Again, I'm quite content with the way it works, the picture handling is just confusing.
i know you all gona say that i should have used forum search which actually i did and i still cant find the answer of how to root (most resent or best methods). today i decided to go the way most of you went and root my galaxy so i could enjoy some of the features or customise the devise for it to be either faster or better somehow (particularly im interested in fixing HW acceleration of openGL). but my main problem is still that ADB doesnt show my device in the devices list after adb_devices command... i think ive tried everything: reinstalling drivers and NPS, SDK 1.5 r1 putting in debbuging, restarting phone even using USBdeview soft to uninstall all android and samsung drivers and try to make it work but still nothing... all day wasted, many forums read, downloaded KAM187s drivers and still nothing im on H8 firmware how to make adb recognise my phone and list it) plus i want some info on how to push this openGL fix on my phone after i root it (if ever) by the way tried on Windows 7 and XP sorry for making a new thread but i think im not the only one whose phone is not listed by adb as i read it on other forums.

Motion of the headphone jack (e.g. while walking with phone in pocket) can be sufficient to trigger events that shut down music player or cause it to skip tracks. This is a major usability issue.
I'd like to disable those events or somehow configure the music player to be insensitive to them.
How do I remove frequently called numbers from the list? Its really annoying and not accurate. People who have called once also appear.

I've got a situation where someone wants to put their whole paper based client list on their phone, some 200+ contacts, and they don't use Gmail. So I'm going to have to type this thing up, and integrate emails while doing it. The thought of having to type it in on the phone is not encouraging. Anyone run across something like that before? On another side note, any good way of limiting what contacts you receive from Gmail? It updated my phone and I've got maybe 20 I actually talk with and 350 contacts I don't care about now.
Can you change the way the contact list is sorted? I have a lot of companies in my list with no contact name and they currently list by the phone number or email address instead of by company name. Sorting by last name first would be nice too!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI didn't like having my phone numbers showing up in my email contact list, so I turned off contact sync and deleted all the phone numbers from my iGoogle contacts. I do not seem to be able to manage my contact list in my phone, however -- none of the default numbers are the ones that I chose for my previous phone and seem to be in a random order -- and I wondered if putting them into google online would be the way to manage them. I don't send email from my gmail account and don't really need them anyway.
I deleted the emails in my contacts and turned the sync back on. However, I got an error message saying that to sync I had to delete 34 contacts. I assumed this was my phone list, and I didn't want to do that! I thought I told it no and cancelled it, but I just went in to call my child's daycare and my contact list is empty. Is there anyway to get that back? Or am I stuck with repopulating the list all over again? Also, do I have to use the online google to manage the contacts? Or is it in the phone somewhere and I just haven't figured it out yet? After this, I would prefer to not try synching them again.
My contact list got very messed up when the list was transfered over from my old flip phone.There are way too many problems to be able to go through it and make edits. I think the best thing I can do is completely start over clean. What would be the best way to do this?I have a gmail account that was created when I got the phone a month ago but really have never used gmail before. Can I enter a new contact list in gmail on my computer and then somehow copy the list to my phone?Would I be better off using another program that would sync with the phone? I really want to be able to enter the names and numbers on the computer first because obviously it is way easier then typing on the phone.

However, even when this is working correctly, in the contacts section of the text messaging app, it still shows two of everything.
