I received the update yesterday.I did about 20 speed checks.Browsed on roaming for at least a half hour.Was roaming standby overnight,slept at my girlfriends in the hills.Today did moderate calls of about a half hour.At 29 hours 30 minutes my battery is still 50%.Huge difference so far. Oops, forgot I charged in the car for 30 minutes.But this is still way better than before.

Many of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this phone since day one and I've ran the battery down almost every day and only had minimum "low battery" alerts but tonight I am getting a warning flash on the screen every 10 seconds saying "Low Battery: Please Charge Battery". Seriously, every 10 seconds and it started at 15% battery left.so I have at least 30-60 minutes of life left.

There are two threads of interest over there:Time without signal > 50% - xda-developers Wow battery from 100 to 10 in 3 hours xda-developers.The short of it is that the 3G signals don't stay locked and the phone keeps hunting.If you go under the battery life settings and click on "Cell Standby" there's a field for "Time Without Service".Mine and many others were hover around 50%.This is constantly draining battery even while you do nothing.So the temporary quick fix is to turn on Airplane mode, then turn it right back off.This fixes some incorrect setting.On my phone, Time Without Service dropped from 52% last night to 0% today.And my battery only dropped about 9-10% idling over night.This is MUCH better than the 30% draining overnight I was seeing over the past few days.

I was hoping I could drain it in like 2 hrs lol. I'm trying to condition my battery!

View 15 Replies View RelatedJust picked up the Epic yesterday, and already been having issues all day long. The phone has does this about 5 or 6 times today. It will fade away, and when I come back to it a little later to check messages or anything, it will all be blacked out, and nothing will come back. (by hitting the power button) No matter what I push, the screen stays black, and the phone seems like it is off. (A few times, the lights have stayed on, and the buttons act like they are responding, but nothing works still) It has also lost signal completely twice today, and I've had to restart it to get signal back.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI am coming to the conclusion that the poor battery charge time is a result of the batteries and not the phone. The reason I believe this to be true is: I purchased the charger that comes with a spare battery and it takes a good 3-4 hours to charge in that, with no phone attached. Batteries in my previous phones would take an hour to fully charge in a dedicated charger. I bet when Seidio comes out with batteries for this phone, we will see much better charge times and possibly better battery life.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI've had my phone unplugged since 11AM this morning. It's now 8PM. My battery meter shows 1h 30m since unplugged (I think this is the built-in status from the OS). Additionally my battery widget shows 26% but the blue batter in the top corner shows 1/2 full. Are there any good battery meters out there that I can trust? Is anyone else noticing wild inconsistencies in time's and battery meters?

One day it lasts 10 hours the next I get only 5 hours with about the same usage time and its driving me bonkers. If I find the Epic to be more reliable with power management I'm keeping the Epic and changing over. Its all up to the battery now!

View 6 Replies View RelatedNew user here. My battery life sucks and I seriously need help. I've had the phone for about 4 days, and I don't think I am doing too much to drain my battery at all. I connect WiFi and 4g only when available.After being unplugged for 2 hours, I am down to 85%. I have plugged in through USB and watched about 5 minutes of video, then disconnected. I've noticed that while plugged in USB in charge mode and doing anything on the phone, it charges only when the phone is on standby. It will stay at same percentage if I am doing something as little as navigating around the phone. I have 5 hours of life left according to Juice Plotter (free). I have Juice Defender (free) on and it says it has increased my battery life by x1.52. I have 4g off and bluetooth on. I updated my PRL. I toggled on/off Airplane Mode. Quit DRM. I also kill applications that I am no longer using so I never have more than 3 apps running in a short period of time.

With airplane mode on I have been experiencing 2-3% decrease in battery per hour with NO USE!
This is completely rediculous and unacceptable. Do they even test these updates before they push them out to eveyone?
I have juice defender and an autokill app. I was getting 1 1/2 days before the update. I am lucky to make it to bed now before my battery is dead. I have alost noticed a lot more running services popping up then before and I have no idea what the issue is
I am getting really sick and tired of this phone really fast... If they don't have these problems fixed by the 30th. Its going right back to the sprint store and I am going back to the iphone.
Minimal use, but still. Probably about 20 texts and checked email 3 or 4 times. Currently unplugged for 12+ hours and my battery is at 90%!
Let me first say, I'm rooted and running a noobnl's Andromeda custom ROM, bloatware is removed, OmaDRMconfigService.drm removed.
3G and wifi off by using Quick Settings (from market) except when in use.
So I checked my battery usage and the display used up 74% of the battery's drainage. I'm not sure if my wallpaper caused this or my extensive use of the browser... I'm using city at night live wallpaper with zeam launcher.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been getting pretty good battery life (about 14-16 hours on average) when I use the airplane mode trick and kill the Media Hub service. However, my phone has not been able to sleep since the past 2 days and the battery is draining quickly.
The up time indicates that the phone cannot go to sleep. I'm just surprised because I haven't changed any of my phone settings so I don't know why this is happening. I uninstalled the last app that I downloaded and that didn't help.
Should I try doing a hard reset? Are there any apps that will specifically tell me what is keeping the phone awake?
I've had this phone since Tuesday and it's not made it from morning to night one time. I am using it, yes, but I thought that was the point. My usual routine is wake up, check the twitter/facebook feeds, log in and check email, browse a few web pages, and get moving. today, i did all of that and took a walk and listened to a cd for an hour on the doubletwist player. i took a single photo. and made one very short phone call. it is nearly dead. it's been off the hook since 830 and it's only 3. I could do all this minus the music playing part on my blackberry, which was ancient 8830 and i would still have juice by midnight tonight. and it should be noted, blackberry constantly pushed my email--i have k9 set to manual, as i do with the facebook and twitter/social media widget. so that instantaneous access that's supposed to be so useful and exciting--i don't have it.
i've done all the usuals, turned off the bluetooth, the wifi radio, the 4g radio (the whole point of the damn phone), lowered screen brightness to the very lowest number, making it totally useless in bright daylight and i mean completely useless-can't see to answer a damn call), i have the screen lock to 15 seconds. i have the autosyncing off, i have the whole phone crippled, and it's about to die. does anyone have any suggestions? i was using launcher pro, but want to go back to the standard touchwiz--only bummer is i can't swap out the messaging icon for handcent which i installed over the regular msging app--because ppl said it uses less battery drain-- but not sure how to disable the old one. i am using live wallpapers, but again, how much of a drain can they really be overall? i turned off the animations, is this a lemon? will rooting make it better? will the new upcoming os make it better? or is 6 hours of usage all i can expect? srsly, i would like to know, because if that's the case, i will go back to the blackberry. i don't care how fancy the phone is, if you can't use all the fun things without it dying, then what's the point?
The left lower side of my battery cover doesn't fully snap into place, causing an annoying gap. It was never like this, but I took the cover off to remove the battery, and when I tried to put it back in, it wouldn't snap. I tried a different cover and it still didn't fit... I have no idea why it wont snap in all of a sudden. Anyone else have this? I'm on my fourth epic, If I have to go to #5 I might just say forget it and save my upgrade
