Does anyone else find that their battery does best at like 60%-70% charged and when it gets below 40 it moves a lot quicker? Also I've done 3 full drain and full recharges so far and my battery has improved sloightly each time, do you reccomend I do it again or is that just bad for the battery?

The only thing putting me off rooting my Hero and installing the villain 5.3 ROM is concern about whether it will shorten the amount of time I can go between battery charges. Does anyone have any numbers on this, or even just impressions about whether consumption is better or worse than on the standard 1.6 ROM.

I am a complete noob at this stuff and was planning on using my samsung moment with stock android 2.1 but..........the battery life sucks. I'll be lucky if i get through a day with only two phone calls and a couple of texts. I was reading on these forums about how rooting can increase battery life on the moment, but how? can someone explain to me how? Oh and if i wanted to root my moment, would this be the easiest way? http://sdx-downloads.com/custom/

Battery life and Battery stability. I still cannot seem to get a good consistent battery life from my Evo. One day it lasts 10 hours the next I get only 5 hours with about the same usage time and its driving me bonkers. If I find the Epic to be more reliable with power management I'm keeping the Epic and changing over. Its all up to the battery now!

New user here. My battery life sucks and I seriously need help. I've had the phone for about 4 days, and I don't think I am doing too much to drain my battery at all. I connect WiFi and 4g only when available. After being unplugged for 2 hours, I am down to 85%. I have plugged in through USB and watched about 5 minutes of video, then disconnected. I've noticed that while plugged in USB in charge mode and doing anything on the phone, it charges only when the phone is on standby. It will stay at same percentage if I am doing something as little as navigating around the phone. I have 5 hours of life left according to Juice Plotter (free). I have Juice Defender (free) on and it says it has increased my battery life by x1.52. I have 4g off and bluetooth on. I updated my PRL. I toggled on/off Airplane Mode. Quit DRM. I also kill applications that I am no longer using so I never have more than 3 apps running in a short period of time.

Ever since I have downloaded and installed the latest update I have been seeing horrible battery life.
With airplane mode on I have been experiencing 2-3% decrease in battery per hour with NO USE!
This is completely rediculous and unacceptable. Do they even test these updates before they push them out to eveyone?
I have juice defender and an autokill app. I was getting 1 1/2 days before the update. I am lucky to make it to bed now before my battery is dead. I have alost noticed a lot more running services popping up then before and I have no idea what the issue is
I am getting really sick and tired of this phone really fast... If they don't have these problems fixed by the 30th. Its going right back to the sprint store and I am going back to the iphone.

I am a new rooter on 2.2. I want something easy to install without getting into new kernals, hopefully the least amount of fiddling around. I want something that is awesome with battery life. that is my #1 concern. Speed is not so important to me. Something that is close to Sense is virtuous for me?

1. I am mainly rooting so I can get better battery life. I also want to get shootme and the wireless hotspot. Using this method how far should I go so I can get these features. [TUTORIAL] IDIOT-PROOF Root Guide! NAND Unlock and ADB Update - xda-developers 2. Can I even use that method since my phone is currently updated to the latest everything. Everything is completely up to date. 3. If I can not use that method what method could I use thats Idiot friendly. 4. If I root only going so I can use the above features Is it easy to get back to stock in case I have to take it to sprint or HTC.

Got my replacement phone coming on Thursday, cannot wait to root. I am going to load up Ivans ROM as it seems to be the most functional and a great starter ROM. But with all this overclocking and such, how does rooting improve battery life like I have seen in many other posts?

I am trading my evo in tomorrow for the epic. I was reading about them today and I saw that at the end of September there was an update for software d07 and if you had d17 or d27 you can't update. If I get my phone tomorrow what do they come with out of the box? I want to be able to update to d18 to get the upload cap off. So should I ask to loom at the phone before they activate it to make sure it is d07 to get the update? Also how are there diff. Software out for them? Why do some have d27 and some have d07.

I have an old BT GPS receiver. Just curious if using BT to connect to a GPS device would eat battery worse than the built in GPS? Also, is there a way to get Google maps to toggle GPS automatically?

My battery has never been worse since upgrading to Froyo. I don't use an auto task killer but I did use SystemPanel to manually close applications once in awhile. Now that I can't kill tasks easily, I just let everything run to see how it would turn out. I'm not saying the battery life is horrible, but it is noticeably worse now. I realize users experience will vary based on how many applications they have installed and running. I have not installed any new applications since Froyo.

Many of us have experienced some battery life fall out since the last update. I mentioned this in the battery life thread but I thought it deserved it own topic. I have an app that I downloaded called battery status. it has a battery history. and it says time without sleeping 7h 10m 25s ago. Thats exactally when I unplugged my phone. This explains why I am seeing 2-3% per hour loss while not using the phone and while in airplane mode. Before the update I could keep the phone in airplane mode, not usre it, and leave work with over 94% battery life. So this proves that somehow the phone is not going into sleep mode... I can guarantee that everyone else in that is experiencing battery drain since the sept 16th update is due to this reason. The question is... why the hell is this happening and why won't the phone go into sleep mode?

I've had this phone since day one and I've ran the battery down almost every day and only had minimum "low battery" alerts but tonight I am getting a warning flash on the screen every 10 seconds saying "Low Battery: Please Charge Battery". Seriously, every 10 seconds and it started at 15% battery left.so I have at least 30-60 minutes of life left.

I have a question for all you rooting mavens. How, if at all, will rooting my Vibrant effect the pending Froyo and TMO updates that are due out soon. Will the updates take place the same as if the phone was not rooted at all or must other steps be taken to take advantage of the pending updtates.

Well after trying evereything under the sun to get better battery life out of this vibrant, including atk, turning 3G off, installing battery apps, rooting, setcpu, lag fixes, now custom roms today. I finally know why the battery blows. I simply can't stop messing with this thing that is why! It's always in my hand like a nice comfort toy. Reminds of when the iPhone came out and I was hacking that thing to pieces updating unlocking jail breaking selling buying.

However, this simply has not been my experience at all, I get a couple of days out of my SGS whereas some others report only getting a day.
I just thought it would be interesting for us to post in here how much battery life we are getting for the amount of use we put the phone to.
There must be some sort of pattern.
My usage:
anywhere between 10 - 30 texts per day.
Several emails - sending and recieving.
a few phonecalls.
30 Minutes of gaming.
Twitter.
Live wallpaper running.
BBC News widget running and Weatherbug widget running.
I also listen to some music but this varies day by day.
3G and HSPDA are left on constantly as is my wireless.
GPS is turned off.
Thats my usage and i get at least a day and a half. Would be interesting to compare...

I have been having some battery issues on my Captivate and can only seem to get through 12 or so hours with minimal use and it is quite bothersome. The main reason I bought the phone was because of its battery life and so far, I am disappointed. For instance, I charged my phone all night, woke up and made a less than one minute phone call, looked at my status and I was at 96%. As the day went on with minimal use, it seems to drain without me even touching it. As of now (13 hours later), my battery icon is blue and showing halfway full, but the battery status says 36% which does not add up to me. I also don't have a live wallpaper and have Advanced Task Manager that kills all apps as well as GPS and Wifi turned off. Any tips? Should I take it back and get a new one or see if I can get a new battery?

I know this phone isn't know for blinding speed (at least running it stock), but lately it's having trouble keeping up with text input from the keyboard. Is this normal? I am using taskiller to kill any not needed background apps and normally have over 120mb left in RAM. Any tips on what I can do to fix this? I'm trying to hold off rooting until I get the t-mobile update. Also, does the phone normally give inaccurate battery readings to the widgets? Because I am literally looking at the phone and watching the percentage go up... up 6 percent in the last hour. lol anyone else getting this?

My Captivate has been plugged in for the past 2+ hours and I barely have 40% battery. Also, my charging cord doesn't stay plugged in. If I pick it up at all while it is charging, the cord falls out. I love this phone, but this may be a deal breaker. What are the chances these issues are just with the phone? Should I go to AT&T and get a new one?

I seem to be having what I consider unacceptible battery life and I wanted to collect some thoughts on how to improve it, or if I should seek remedy with AT&T or something. At this point, the phone is of limited use to me because it dies part way through the day, which is unacceptable. Normal routine. Phone charges completely overnight. I unplug my phone sometime in the 7am hour. I usually get my first battery warning around 3pm. Phone usually shuts itself off around 5-7pm (hence, a serious problem). Since the phone is dying, it is "cycling" the battery every time I charge it. My day is what I would consider moderate usage. For comparison, my Samsung Jack last a day and a half under the same conditions. My settings for display and other things are essentially stock.
I pulled the battery stats the last time the phone died just as it was shutting itself off.
Total time: 11h 49m
Display: 39% 1h 22m
Cell idle: 12% 10h 19m
Cell Standby: 25% 11h 41m, No signal 6%
Android system: 6% CPU background 22m, CPU Foreground 9s
Palringo: 6% Background 22m, foreground 3s
Android OS: 4% 12m
Doplhin HD Browser: 2% 6m 29s, 3m 58s
Android Core apps 2%
Good 2% 4m 50s, 31s

This is a great thread to read on tips for saving power http://androidforums.com/samsung-vibrant/138944-how-save-power.html But this is something that people over look, its mentioned in a few places but I think it needs to be promoted more. I'm talking about, well I guess the word for it is conditioning the battery. Basically you drain the battery down till its dead(though in my case I went down to only 5%), turn the phone off and charge back up to full. One thing I noticed right away was how long it took for the phone to recharge. I have not hard data, but my experience up to that point was charging before didn't take that long. But now that I've done this, battery life is great. I've been listening to music for a couple of hours, some light browsing, viewed a youtube video, took a few pictures, and I have background sync on and I have both twitter and facebook installed with notifications set to their shortest time span(15min and 30min respectively). Currently at 8hrs since unplugged and at 61%. Not bad I'd say. I also have rooted my phone and installed the lag fix. I'm not running BH_MAN's cut down rom, I am still running stock.
