I'm doing my usual pushing buttons. I dl'd the manual but can't figure this out. I have on the main screen an option of 5 different things: wifi (on/off), bluetooth (on/off), something, something, screen brightness. I think I toggled it on but don't know how to turn it off now.

I have looked everywhere in the forums and although I know it is in here I can't seem to find the answer to this question. How do I change the home buttons at the bottom of the main screen? I have switched to k9 mail and would like to replace the stock email icon there.

I put Cognition on my phone today, and made a backup image of the stock 2.1 before putting Cognition on. I decided I want to go back to the Stock, so I clicked the "manage backups" part of Clockwork, and "recover" on the image I saved. Next, the phone rebooted, and looked like it was installing the backup image, and rebooted again. However, it will not go past the White AT&T screen. Is my only option to use Odin to give it a factory reset? Or is there an easier way for me to do this?

The only bug I notice is when I disable BT it mentions something about a SIM card.
Everyone knows that At&t is probably the worst major carrier in the US to be on if you want an Android device. So there has to be a reason you are praying Samsung announces the issues with the Captivate are fixable, or you would have jumped ship by now to have dozens of choices at the other carriers. For me, my wife just got her first ever iPhone and she refuses to try anything else. She's a big fan of the "Sims" type of games and Android doesn't have many of those games in the Market yet. It doesn't make sense money wise to have us on different carriers. So I'm stuck with At&t and a Captivate that I wish could perfrom to it's potential. Anybody else in a similar situation? Maybe it's spouses, kids, or even work related?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was rebooting my phone today and it every time I try it gets stuck on The Galaxy S logo with the big flashing "S" on the screen. It acts like it is going to boot up but just after the ATT screen and the boot sound it gets stuck. I did the one-click-lag-fix about 2 weeks ago and the phone has been running smooth ever since. My wife and daughter are on the road so not having a phone really stinks right now.

I removed GoogleTalk which seems to be the route of the issue and now I can't seem to get it back. Also, ever since then I get the following error message upon booting: "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_201008021101_com_google_process_gapp s.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log." I'd rather not have to factory reset since I'm already rooted and was just getting things the way I liked them.

I was running the JI6 2.2 with cognition beta5.5 and was attempting to update however I needed to swap kernels since the current kernel didn't verify signatures. I was using vmware on a mac and i started it but then continued to use the mac side however the computer disconnected the phone from the windows side and now it is stuck showing an image of a phone next to a computer with a triangle with a ! in it between the two. Pressing all hardware buttons does nothing but black the screen and go back to the same screen. I've taken out the battery, sim, unplugged the cord, everything. Can't get back into download mode to redo the kernal swap. It's definitely connected to a valid, and working, usb port and i am now on windows itself instead of vmware. What do I do?

my fascinate is rooted and i attempted (foolishly) to replace the default device fonts. however, after following directions and "successfully" completing the steps, my phone rebooted and is now stuck on the samsung reboot screen. i've tried wiping all data, removing cache, removal of sd card, and rebooting and i'm still stuck on the samsung main reboot screen.is there anyway to fix this issue or at least restore my phone using terminal on a mac or command on windows? and if this is possible, would debugging have to be checked because i unchecked debugging after i rooted my phone.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe tried to root it and apply the lag fix via "OneClickLagFix" app (from the Market), and the phone was very fast for about a week, then slowed down SIGNIFICANTLY. Tonight, it just froze and will not boot past the Galaxy S screen. The screen will then go black and the four buttons at the bottom stay lit. We have gone into recovery and wiped the cache but no luck. Have not yet tried to wipe user data.
Transfer all data from internal storage to a separate drive, then wipe phone? If so, will I have to "flash" a stock/custom ROM to get the phone back up?
I downloaded a kernal on ryans lag fix and then it made my phone get stuck on the VIBRANT SAMSUNG screen so i tried to fix it by using odin, but all it did was make it go to the Galaxy s sign now, any suggestions on how i can fix this? (and also, after the galaxy s sign shows up for about ten seconds or something like that it goes all black and all that stays lit are the home button, the back button, the search button, and the settings button)PLEASE REPLY, i need serious help.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot get the recovery screen to come on for the life of me. I hold the volume buttons and the power button and once the AT&T screen pops up, I release the power button. It sits there for a second and the screen goes black. I have tried releasing the power buttons then and I have tried holding them as well.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo today in glass design I was checking messages when a small ( when i say small i mean you almost can't even see it) piece of glass landed on my captivate. My captivate has the body glove, screen protector and screen protector.When this little piece of glass got on the screen I tried to just rub it off but it cut through the screen protector and put a deep scratch on the actual captivate screen.The screen protector I was using was gadget guard so I definitely don't recommend using that if you plan on it because of how weak it is. I'm also disappointed with the captivates screen. If a small piece of glass barely rubbing on it can leave a deep scratch, I can't imagine what keys could do.You can't really see the scratch, but I'm just super ocd about it and can feel it on my finger every time it's in that area.
