When I use one hand to use the phone I often accidentally adjust the brightness by holding down on the notifications bar. Is there anyway to disable this feature?

I'm on my 2nd captivate and both of these bugs have happened on both phones.
First being the backlight remaining on unless I lock the phone manually. This will happen even with the backlight auto turn off set to 30 seconds. This has happened a handful of times, and I can make the backlight turn off if I want by using the lock key, but it will never auto turn off. This is fixed by power cycling the phone.
Second, my notification volume. I've noticed a few times that I'll have a text or something waiting on my phone for which I didn't hear the notification tone. When I go to the phones settings I find that the notification volume is down around 25% instead of the 75% or so I keep it set at. This seems to happen randomly.
coming out of standby my phones brightness is always very bright and not dimmed appropriately any1 else experiencing this?i go to the display options in the settings and uncheck then recheck automatic brightness and the screen dims appropriately but once i turn the screen off and back on the problem returns
View 2 Replies View RelatedUntil now I had my screen set to auto brightness.First, +1 to those who said in other threads that the screen looks even better when you turn that off and put brightness all the way up.But my question here is why, on auto brightness, the screen sometimes increased or decreased brightness when I was using it. It happened all the time. The only thing I can rule out as the cause was time delay, because sometimes it happened as I was typing or just after, and sometimes it would happen after a delay. I think it must be connected to either orientation, or movement, or brightness sensor detecting the ambient light, or something.If I could figure out how to make it stop doing that I would go back to auto-brightness.

Have you noticed, when your battery starts to get really low, the phone ignores your max brightness setting, and reverts to a lower brightness?

Useful when auto brightness isnt on and you need a quick brightness change. I'm not sure if this is a touchwiz feature or an android feature.

I'm talking normal, run-of-the-mill settings not what you crank it to when you're outside, and not what you turn it down to for playing games in the dark. I want your normal setting. View 2 Replies View RelatedAn app or mod that will use the microphone to sense the amount of noise around you and adjust the notifications accordingly - that is to say when its quiet, next to my bed and I am sleeping I want it to be all quiet sounds - but when I am working and there is fan noises and other stuff that is louder then normal I want the notifications to be loud - but if I walk into the break room which is quiet I want it to be quiet again - or if I am listening to music in a room or car turn up the notifications so I can here them and back down when not. You know take a sound reading and turn up or down the volume of the notification that is happening at that given time.
Only problem being when its in your pocket it will always seem to be quieter then normal so they will be quiet also, so there would need to be something to listen to the sound and determine if its being muffled by a pocket or whatever and turn it up then - if playing a sound and analysing that sound it should be able to determine what environment the phone is in, like a pocket or bag that will make it quieter. I am not even sure if i am describing this properly but I know someone can probably figure it out, but it might have to be something the manufacturer does, like that phone that has 2 microphones to auto cancel out background noises like a bluetooth headset.
Even when I kill FindMyAndroid and the ATT maps deal, they start up again in a few seconds. How do I make them stop?

It seems to happen when I get new notifications. I can see it happen maybe 50% of the time when i get a text, but have seen it other times just disappear when going into email or something. I can always get it back just by opening the alarm program i'm using.
I have seen this happen with the stock moment alarm and gentle alarm. Klaxon will disappear for a moment and re-appear at times when others would have probably disappeared.
For txt i'm using the application the moment came with. using gmail and moxier. not too much notification add-ons minus that except craigsnotifica.
any thoughts? i talked with the developer for gentle alarm and he couldn't reproduce it...
For the last few weeks when I get a text message or email I get the regular notification but also another/different "icon" for the same message; so I end up with two icons in my notification bar. And the only way the "new" icon can be cleared from my notification bar is if I physically pull down the bar and press clear (even if I've read the message it stays there until I clear it). It's starting to drive me crazy...my ringtone even goes off twice. Anyone have an idea on why this is happening? I don't have any third party message apps installed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Captivate has been nothing but a pain. The GPS comes and goes and the response time is horrible with the touch screen (give me old-fashioned BUTTONS any day!) Now the 'message' alert continues to go off and I can't stop it; I finally had to mute it. I have rebooted and even removed the battery and it won't stop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI long press on my homescreen widget, the resize "handle" appears, I resize the widget, I can do absolutely nothing else. Stuck in resizing hell. Have to re-boot to stop the insane amount of resizing going on.
After re-boot the f'n widget is back to the same undesirable old size.
Has anyone figured out a way to have the Captivate default browser not load mobile pages? I didn't fork out all this extra money to load websites in the same format as my old flip phone.

Very annoying, I have to keep turning the phone on all the time. No its not low batteries, I'm not that stupid. Haven't messed around with the phone at all, firmware or rooting or anything like that.
If their are other threads regarding Android crashing on a minute by minute basis can someone please link. And when I say minute by minute, sometimes it is that bad.
And from what I have seen in other postings; I do appreciate friendly helpful people, however, please save the "Welcome" posts for other people, I just want to get down to business

I have synchronized my phone with my exchange server and appear to have lost most of my appointments, and some of the ones that I didn't loose have replicated themselves many times. Does anyone know what caused this, how to stop it, and is it possible to recover the lost appointments? I know I had a lot of things scheduled for this week, but with the exception of a few things that have either been there for a long time or are reoccurring appointments, they are all gone.
