Samsung Captivate :: Does Brightness Automatically Lowers When Battery Is Low?
Sep 7, 2010
Curious if any of the captivate owners are experiencing this. If you set your brightness to max, and turn off power saving mode. Have you noticed, when your battery starts to get really low, the phone ignores your max brightness setting, and reverts to a lower brightness?

I set the phone to not set brightness automatically and I put the brightness to the minimum. Every time I bring down the notification bar, the brightness automatically raises nonetheless and it's starting to really p.m.o.

I cant wait for the Sense 2.1 update for Hero in March. Do you think it will include the Be Polite feature? You know the one which automatically lowers the ringtone volume when you pick it up?

This screen is unnecessarily bright in total darkness- is there a better screen brightness app that can bring the backlight down more than the settings allow?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and the battery drains way too fast. I looked up online how to keep it going more, but even with those tips, it still doesn't work. I went to Battery and checked what is draining the battery so much, and according to my phone, its the brightness. take a look: 94%??! That's insane, and that does not sound normal to me. I tried lowering the brightness, even to the lowest possible, and the percentage does not change at all. Why is the brightness taking up THAT much battery, and how do I fix it so it stops taking up that much?

If you swipe your finger on the notification bar (with the panel still up), you can change your brightness, anywhere that bar is present! Useful when auto brightness isnt on and you need a quick brightness change. I'm not sure if this is a touchwiz feature or an android feature.

Just curious what brightness setting everyone is using? I'm talking normal, run-of-the-mill settings not what you crank it to when you're outside, and not what you turn it down to for playing games in the dark. I want your normal setting. Anyone have an idea of how much power usage is impacted? (Like, does 100% Brightness use 50% more power than 10%, or does it use 400% more power?)

I have the Auto-Brightness turned off and am using the Power Control widget but from time to time, the settings on Power Control goes to min. without my actually touching the control (its on a different home screen, not the main one, so its not that Im touching it by accident).

What is the difference between "automatic brightness adjustment" and "power saving mode" which has the description "save power by adjusting image and adjusting LCD brightness"? Which one should I have on to conserve battery? It sounds like the do the same thing.

How come the auto screen brightness doesn't seem to change how bright the screen is? The sensor itself is working fine, as using the proxylight sensor app (free on the market) it does actually register changes in light.Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk

Any app that will automatically change the screen brightness based on a defined battery level. Preferably with the option to define how much the screen is dimmed as well.

Until now I had my screen set to auto brightness.First, +1 to those who said in other threads that the screen looks even better when you turn that off and put brightness all the way up.But my question here is why, on auto brightness, the screen sometimes increased or decreased brightness when I was using it. It happened all the time. The only thing I can rule out as the cause was time delay, because sometimes it happened as I was typing or just after, and sometimes it would happen after a delay. I think it must be connected to either orientation, or movement, or brightness sensor detecting the ambient light, or something. If I could figure out how to make it stop doing that I would go back to auto-brightness.

So I painfully watched my Cappy's battery door crushed under my friend's car as one of their "harmless" joke. Now there's not a single site on the internet selling these doors, and I'm desperate. I found dummy/display Captivates though, so I was just wondering if anyone knows if the dummy battery door can replace the REAL door by any chance?

when receiving pictures through gmail (I simply use the gmail app) they don't automatically appear in the email, like it does on my girlfriends Captivate through the gmail app. She didn't do anything special, just set up email and when she receives pics when she opens the email they're just there. Now there is the download and preview button next to the attachments but when I hit those my phone just says "fetching attachment, please wait". I've left my phone for at least 5 minutes and it will just sit on that screen. On one pic I did let it sit for a few minutes, gave up waiting, but noticed the pic later in my dowloaded folder. But this is the only pic it's done that with. So I would a way to get the pics to just show up in my email when I open the email, or not have to wait minutes on end for a pic to maybe get downloaded. I feel like there should be some solution without me having to download some app, since my girl's phone can do it.

I've been experiencing a problem where the phone vibrates in short pulses and returns to the home screen. The home button also vibrates at the same time. It hasn't happened much maybe 7 times or so since Sunday. Curious what it could be.

so we have 4 Captivates in our house. 3 of the 4 have received the update notification and have been updated. (Mine has not). None of these phones are rooted. My son noticed this morning when he goes into the market on his phone and goes to downloads. There are 3 things that are different. First off there is a button that says "Update All", he can click on this to update all of the apps that need to be updated. Second, when he goes into an individual download there are now 2 buttons at the top one says "Comments" the other says "About". The Third change is that under those 2 buttons there is now a check box that can be checked that says "Update Automatically". Anyone know why he has these 3 new options and no one else does?

Does anyone know if we can automatically link to a Bluetooth device once you enable Bluetooth? It's lame to turn Bluetooth "on" with the power widget but have to go to the bluetooth settings to actually link to a device.

When I turn on my Captivate, it automatically opens AT&T Hot Spots, AT&T Navigator, IM, Email and about a dozen other apps. Is there any way to limit the apps that open automatically so that I don't have to use Task Killer every time to kill unwanted apps?

So I have a battery savings profile on Setting Profiles and I have the screen set at around 25%. Problem is that in the sun I have a very hard time seeing the screen. I set it on auto brightness just now (which I like the best), but how bad is it for the battery life from day to day?

Does anyone know if there is going to be or if there usually is an extended battery that will eventually be offered for this phone? And if so, you think they will be able to keep it slim or am I going to have a giant brick in my pocket if I use an extended battery?
