So I just got my captivate & went to do the OTA update & when it went to install it the said install failed rebooting phone & then it went black & has not started since it doesn't do anything no matter what I do or how I plug it in. I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have tried all the methods of getting the phone into recovery mode, but as i said it will not even start.

After I applied the Voodoo Lag Fix on Cognation V2.7 captivate, it kept entering recovery mode. Each time I choose reboot system now in the recovery mode, it will enter the recovery mode again. Anyone can tell me what happened to my captivate? Is there any way to fix it?

I press both volume buttons then press power button and keep holding onto the volume buttons but the phone just boots normally.Anyone had a similar problem? Am I doing something wrong?

It's a brand new Captivate and it came preloaded with Firmware 2.1-update1I tried variations on this, but from everything I've heard, this should work just fine: Hold both volume buttons while powering on and keep holding the power button 3 seconds after the ATT logo appears (before it power cycles itself). Nothing triggers, and it just boots up normally.I've also tried the "One Click Root/UnRoot" method, with no luck.Has ATT gotta more aggressive with locking us out?

Now I'm trying to root my phone again through the one-click lag fix so I can get everything up and running again (I NEED barnacle to work), but I need to enter recovery mode, and no such luck... I've tried like ten times now: I hold down volume up, volume down, and the power button, but no luck... it used to work but not anymore.

Lately my Cappy will turn itself on and stay on. For example, I have my phone on my desk, and the phone display will turn on, and stay on. No message, phone call, text or meeting reminder is received.
I have a Vibrant. The issue all started when I tried to install the 1.2ghz OC rom onto my phone. I had rommanager installed, and attempted to run it off the SD card, but when my phone booted up it had lost my applications, everything.
The problem I'm running into now is that the phone seems to be unable to use its mass storage. Every time I attempt to reinstall an application from the market it says it doesn't have enough memory. Under settings it says "unavailable" for the internal mass storage.
I tried using the volume buttons and power button to enter recovery/dl mode but every time I do I cannot make selections. If I use the power button to try to select it does nothing. In fact the "up" volume button makes it go down, and the other "down" button also doesn't do anything.
Since I have no applications I can't use clockwork recovery, even though I know I have one. Also, Odin is unable to connect to the phone, so I can't reload factory. Kies also doesn't recognize the phone.
It also won't even recognize the SIM card, says it has no reception when it clearly does.
I just came over from a D1. I am trying to install OCLF on my SF but I am a little stuck and cannot find the answer... When I go to reboot my phone into recovery mode... what buttons do I push? On my D1 it was easy cause it had buttons ..
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing U bunt and it seems as if it really wants to tether. In PC Internet mode U bunts recognizes it as a wired USB connection and identifies the phone as Samsung. Can't load a page though. Close but not there yet.

Every thing I read says hold down the volume up volume down and power keys. I can't quite find the right mojo to get it going. Is there some sort of secret sequence you need to user to get it to recovery manager?

1. Enable Flight Mode
2. Turn Off the phone
3. Turn on the phone
4. Disable Flight Mode
-You see the 3G icon appear now. Try accessing the internet, go to the browser, or sync your email - it does not work.
5. Turn off the phone
6. Turn on the phone
-- Now everything should be working as normal
I tried it a couple of times again to be sure and every time the issue occurs. There was no wifi access when I tried the above.
I have a problem with getting my samsung captivate to go into download mode, when i hold my volume buttons then put in my usb cable in the phone it just shows a battery charge icon instead of download mode.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to see if i have a defective unit in that the display is taking up more battery than standby when the phone is not in use and so far my phone has turned off by itself 3 times in the past 13 hours. I had it 100% charged last night before going to bed so i unplugged it from the wall, put it on the nightstand in airplane mode, and i woke up an hour late this morning because my alarm didn't go off because my captivate turned off at some point in the night. I fired it up and it had 94% battery. So i immediately put it into standby and put it in my pocket and went to work. When i got to work i pressed the standby button and nothing happened, so i held it in and voila, the phone is turning on. So on my way to work it randomly shut down again. So now it has 90% battery so i put it on standby again and let it sit for 3 hours. I just checked on it and it had shut off again. It's now at 88% and shows Display=54%, Cell Standby=15%. I think this thing is completely whacked. Between this and the GPS not working i think i'm done. I'm definitely going to take this one back, but i'm concerned about getting a new one that's even more screwed up as it seems there are such few good working copies of this phone out there. Is there some setting that turns your phone off after a certain amount of standby time that i might have somehow mistakenly turned on? I feel like that would be a ridiculous setting to have, but it seems like there are a lot of options on this phone so ya never know.

I use ATK to kill it, lock it, unlock it, and it's still checking for GPS while it's locked. The only way I found to fix this is to restart the phone, and wanted to know if there was any way to stop making it check for GPS without restarting the phone...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new Samsung Captivate, and I can't keep the wifi off. No matter how many times I go to settings (or use the pull-down curtain), and switch off the wifi, within a minute or so, the wifi comes on again. It also turns itself off again periodically when this happens. I don't have any after market power manager installed. I suspect this may be down to an app, but have no idea where to start looking for the solution.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSomething new - under Wifi Settings / Advanced - I have Wi-Fi set to sleep when display is off. This doesn't seem to be the case. My WiFi is Always on. I would imagine that the icon would disappear like it does when WiFi is turned off, but when the phone is asleep and then wakes up, the WiFi connection is still there. Anything I can try to fix this? I have tried changing the WiFi sleep policy to the other 2, then changing it back to display power - didn't work. I did have to reboot the phone last night because I couldn't get WiFi to turn off, but I don't have a problem today with turning it on or off, just won't go to "sleep"
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night my wife was trying to update her cached stations on slacker radio and although connected to wifi slacker gave a notification that the data would be downloaded over 3g and an unlimited plan was recomended. The strange thing is I had full strength connection to wifi but the 3g icon was still there and and the red and green arrows were showing data transfer over 3g. When connected to wifi on my captivate the 3g icon disappears. A simple power down fixed the problem and wifi was present and no 3g icon in the status bar.

View 3 Replies View RelatedNoticed since I work in a rather quiet environment. During office hours I need to keep it on vibrate mode. When the phone vibrates during a call, it causes a severe rattling noise when the phone is in my hands or if the bottom is not resting against a hard object. Removing the battery compartment cover and repeat, and the rattle is non existent. With the battery cover on, the rattle can be diminished by pressing firmly on the top section of the cover.

I'm guessing it's a software issue possibly because when I push the button to put my screen to sleep it always works. Also, the same thing happened to my old iPhone 3g all the time.

It sits there for a second and the screen goes black. I have tried releasing the power buttons then and I have tried holding them as well.
