View 3 Replies View RelatedStupid question, but how do I change the text tone on the captivate? Only see voice call and notification in sound settings. Thanks!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a search in the captivate forums and couldn't find this one. I'm trying to set the tone for text notifications. If I go to Settings>Sound>Notification Ringtone it only gives me the pre-loaded sounds. If i go to the sound file in my phone and click "set as" it only gives me options for voice call ringtone, caller ringtone, and alarm tone.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded and installed Ring droid. I have converted one or two songs to ring tones. Ring droid will allow you to assign that ring tone to a contact at the time you make the ring tone. What I can't figure out is how do you change ring tones for any other individuals? I thought you would go into contacts and there would be an option there, but not. So, I went back to Ring droid and the only way I can find to add a custom ring tone there is to convert the same song again. So now I have three copies of the same ring tone. There has got to be a better way. I know I am knew to the Captivate, but this seems like something that would be a no briner (which I have been accused of being).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm new to the Android Software and just purchased the Samsung Captive. I was needing to know, can you have full songs as rings tones when receiving incoming calls. I was able to with my bb bold and it was easy.. But Im having trouble trying to figure it out. just when I think I got it my songs are listed in settings -sounds & display- under notification ring tone and not under my voice call ring tone in sounds & display settings. if anyone can direct me on the "how to process" I'd really appreciate it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHave the phone. Went through all the fun of finding my own prefered ring tone - well I made it from a song, and another ring tone for other uses.
Set them up, set the "Message" tone, set the alarm tone and all was good.
It wasn't long after that I bought a SANDISC8 gig SD card.
Coppied ALL files over and swapped the cards.
I am not sure exactly WHEN the problem started, but it still exists.
Now and then the phone is in my pocket and it starts making a sound. It isn't one I selected, so ignore it until it becomes obvious it is mine as no-one else is talking on their phone.
I look and it is a message/phone call/alarm.
They are NOT the ones I set. So I go through the process of seting them back to what I like.
Someone says it could be a dicky SD card. I shall test that soon by putting back the original one and seeing what happens. The only problem with that is that it is SO INTERMITANT that it is hard to know if it is or not really the problem.
In the root of your SD card create the following folders
Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.
I have a problem in my phone for a long time now. while I'm talking on the phone, i cant press the tones (can't press the dialer). means i cant hear my voice messages, call any support service (can't choose any option in the menus). anyone familiar with that problem? any clue what can cause it? i was able to press the tones when i bought the phone, but from some point in time i couldn't anymore.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNow that we're a month in to the official 2.1. Is there a way to have individual alert tones for different SMS contacts, just like you can have different ringtones for voice contacts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to set individual notification tones for all my contacts? I've been able to get ringtones for incoming calls figured out but I really NEED to have different tones for my texts from different contacts.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhat I am needing is some ring tones other than the default ones that come on this phone. I have found a few on the Market but so far none are filling the bill as to what I need. Basically I have a little hearing loss so prefer basic tone type ring tones rather than a tune or clip from some song or movie. Funny but I kinda like the ring tone of the old standard phone ringer. Can someone suggest something on the Market or some other alternative? I suppose it's as easy as downloading anything using my computer and sending it to my cell phone and using it from there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedCan you have a ring tone for certain people in you're address book? For example one for my husband and another for my mom? I have music on my music player app but I can't find where I add it on the contacts. Is there a way to delete some of the programs that came with the phone? Like the ones I know I will never use. I know from my home screen I can drag them to the trash but that doesn't delete them from the applications screens.
View 3 Replies View Relatedcan you set custom texting tones while texting? say i press the letter "A" can i make it play a sound as i press that letter?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust picked this up yesterday and I'm very impressed. This is my first droid phone and it blows away the other phones I've owned in the past. Not really a fan of the iPhone and have been on AT&T forever..it's time for a change. My last phone was a Nokia E72 which is a great phone, but wanted more! Gonna put that on E-bay soon hah.
The only complaints I have so far are the notification sounds are quiet even at the max volume setting. The Nokia E72 is a lot louder both in ringtone and sms tones. Also, the four buttons on the bottom sometimes don't respond. I find I have to occasionally hit the same button a couple times to get it to work. Very minor tho imo. It's not too frequent.
Is there a way to have different tones for text messages/e-mails etc? I hate that It's all one tone and unless im looking at the phone I can't tell which one has happened.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got my Moment and noticed that I can not have different tones for text, voicemail, and email. They all have to be the same as well as when I plug the usb cord into and disconnect it from the phone. Any idea if 2.1 is going to allow people to customize the tones for the phone? I really depend on those. I use the sound to determine weather or not I need to get to the phone to check on it or if I can just ignore it. Also any idea on the voice command? The one that comes with it is worthless, I really liked the "live search" from the instict and you would think Samsung would be able to put in the moment since it was in the instinct.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm kind of new to Android. Only have had this phone for a few weeks, switched over from the iPhone. Anyway, I'm having trouble with Game boy emulators. I loved playing Pokemon on my jailbroken iPhone and would really love to enjoy it on my Captivate.

View 49 Replies View RelatedSo I painfully watched my Cappy's battery door crushed under my friend's car as one of their "harmless" joke. Now there's not a single site on the internet selling these doors, and I'm desperate. I found dummy/display Captivates though, so I was just wondering if anyone knows if the dummy battery door can replace the REAL door by any chance?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI got AT&T Samsung Captivate i897 (2.1 Eclair). I unlocked and rooted my phone. I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.
