View 4 RepliesHow can you remove the T-mobile image and sound (mostly concerned with the sound) when you turn on/off your phone? I find it annoying and I would like to remove it. My phone is rooted.
View 4 Replies View RelatedRooted with Z4Root. I deleted most of the bloatware but wanted to know how to get rid of the T-Mobile tune at startup and shutdown? Anybody done this?
Also a question. If you UNroot, wil the bloatware still be gone? I assume so but want to make sure.
Does anybody know of a "patch" or indeed an ADB shell command that will enable me to disable the pointless (to me anyway) vibration on startup and shutdown. I am rooted with S-ON running stock Froyo with a "few little" mods applied such as rosie drag n drop and trackpad wake. Please don't suggest I install a full custom ROM as I dont want to do this just to get vibrate off. It seems like using a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
Surely if I can issue a command in ADB shell to disable startup sound (which I have successfully done) then there is a command to disable startup and shutdown vibrate??? Logically that must be the case? There must be somewhere in the startup/shutdown code that tells the phone to vibrate. I would be very, very, very, very grateful if anyone can point me towards a solution other than a full custom ROM install. For now I want to carry on running stock Froyo with my little tweaks. I am looking for a "tweak" such as a zip file or shell command.
Is there any way to turn off the searching for signal tones? I get the little "bong bongs" whenever I'm in a subway. The tone plays through the main speaker even when using a headset.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was working on a paper on my computer, and my Droid was on my desk charging. My girlfriend sent me a message on the computer saying she will be over shortly, and I told her to call me in case I don't hear her knock. So a long time went by, and I was like "wow, she has to be here by now" and checked my phone to make sure I didn't miss her call. I hit the unlock button and nothing happened. I held the unlock button to turn the phone on, nothing happened. I had to physically remove the battery, then pop it back in and it worked magically. At the time, I thought that it was just a fluke.
I was writing messages, e-mails, browsing, etc., before class and I put my phone in my pocket right before I walked to class. When I got out of class, I tried to unlock my phone, and AGAIN the phone would not unlock/turn on. This time however, I made sure this wasn't a battery issue. I made sure all the pins on the phone were making contact with the battery and it would still not turn on. I had to pull the battery out, and put it back in, and it worked immediately. (I am literally pulling the battery out and popping it back in immediately, no wait time in between). I have seen a few threads about apps freezing, force quits, random restarts, and I have none of that (I have never had an app force close). I am just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue? I don't even know where to begin debugging, since I haven't really installed anything in the last week.
i am running the r12 dont think that matters but. I forgot to plug my phone in last night. I had 30 percent battery so i plugged it into my car charger. it shut off and now wont turn on at all. I have pulled the battery about 50 times with no luck. I plugged it back into the car charger the wall charger and my computer still nothing. I tried to turn it on into the download mode my computer didnt notice it. I have pulled the sims card the sd card nothing. Just a black screen. I now put 2 and 2 together. this happend before about a month ago but then i pulled the battey and it came back on. Now if i get it back on I know better than do it again. Is there anything I can do? I am thinking about stopping at tmo tomorrow to see if they have a battery to try? Has this happened to anyone else if so what did you do?

In an effort not to be just a lurker here, I thought I'd ask about something I cannot seem to adjust on my new US Cellular Droid Desire. I would like to silence the start up tones that happen during the US Cellular startup screen when powering up the phone. There are situations where I would like to be able to start up my phone silently. Is there a way to just shut off the startup sounds?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am running Android 4.1.1 and connecting to a VPN to secure info on public wi-fi. Unlike my laptop, which autoconnects to VPN on startup, when I go to Settings to turn wi-fi on, I must also remember to connect to VPN.
Is there a way to auto turn-on VPN at startup? Something similar to the startup folder or registry entries in Windows?
I just got a OG droid or droid 1 and I cant figure out how to turn off my keypad tones. it gets annoyin when im texting and hearing the ting ting ting noise. I've already went to the sound menu and turned off keypad tones or watever and still didnt make a difference.
View 3 Replies View RelatedFrom day one, everyone in my family has noticed that when I start up my phone it automatically sends everyone covered by my family plan (4 other phones) a blank text message. I've looked for a button to uncheck this feature, but none exists (to my knowledge). Last night I mentioned it to my local service rep and they're at a loss. They've heard it happening, even amongst themselves, but don't have a solution.
Does anyone have any experience with this and have you been able to turn it off?
I have suffered the shutdown while charging and have traced it to a battery charge indicator app. I would charge the battery at night and the next morning it wouldn't restart without pulling the battery. This occurred concurrently with installing a battery charge indicator app. I uninstalled the app and now the problem has disappeared. My unabated installation of apps has now stopped. I am now convinced that the app world is full of bugs and crap. I bet half the problems that folks have are due to unvetted apps being used. I am now trying to figure out how to properly screen them before I install them and inherit a fatal bug in the process.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have seen more than a couple different inquiries (including some by me) on these topics in multiple places in the SF forums and elsewhere. Because of this I figured I would try and collect all the information regarding changing these things and put them into this one thread. If you think I am missing or forgot something, let me know and I can add it in (such as new files, clarification, etc).
Thanks to the respective creators of each file included in this thread. Without you guys we wouldn't even be detailing this process.
DISCLAIMER: This is intended to provide easy step-by-step directions to change bootup and shutdown animations and sounds. I take no responsibility if you screw up your phone attempting to follow these instructions. Read everything carefully.

*Android Scribble 2.0
*Droid Star Wars R2D2
*Android Bios Boot animation
*Windows 7 boot animation
*Spinning droid custom boot animation
*Regular Galaxy S bootup animation
*Droid peeing on apple boot animation (can you confirm this one saps?) (confirmed below)
*Numerous Captivate animations (Stainless steel android, rotating colors android, electric android, etc.)
Here is one sound file (the DROID noise) which is in both formats for bootup and shutdown:
Bootup: DROID.wav
Shutdown: DROID.ogg
Here are some shutdown animations (originally created as bootup animation's from xda user GLa'DOS):
*Android scribble w/yellow color burst (altered by saps)
*Android scribble w/no color burst (altered by saps)
*Android scribble w/green color burst (altered by me)
Another shutdown animation:
*Galaxy S shutdown
PLEASE NOTE: You must be rooted. You must reboot in order for these changes to take effect. You should have Root Explorer (although I am sure there is a way with ADB commands as well though). You may want to create a backup (CWM or the like), just in case. Also, most of the people I have seen do this are running a version of Dirrk's/jt's kernel, which allow boot/shutdown animations to be changed. The kernel you are currently using when attempting to change the animations must allow for them to be changed for this to work.
The file needed to change your boot-up animation should be a .zip file.
I successfully changed my bootup animation by doing the following:
Boot-up animation:
1) download a new boot animation .zip file (I put mine in /sdcard/downloads)
2) open Root Explorer
3) navigate to where you put the new .zip
4) copy the new .zip
5) paste it into /data/local
6) rename it "bootanimation.zip." (if it isn't already)
Also, if you want to change the startup/shutdown sounds:
Startup sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to a .wav file (using Winamp+.wav converter/iTunes)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/etc
6) rename "PowerOn.wav" to "PowerOn.wav.old"
7) navigate to where you placed the DL'ed .wav file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/etc
10) rename it "PowerOn.wav"
Shutdown sound:
1) DL a new sound file
2) convert to .ogg file (I used Winamp+.ogg converter)
3) put on SD card
4) open Root Explorer
5) navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
6) rename "shutdown.ogg" to "shutdown.ogg.old"
7) navigate to the DL'ed .ogg file
8) copy
9) paste into /system/media/audio/ui
10) rename it "shutdown.ogg"
Shutdown animation (DL is above as well): (thanks to saps):

Alright whats up people I was recently searching through and through for a way to get mobile internet without paying that ridiculous android price so as I was searching I stumbled across a regular behold forum at Samsung Behold Forum - New Proxy (TMobileX (Free Internet!)) - UPDATE: Analysis 01.07.10 -> 1500 Users because someone said free internet for it and I gave it a run to see if it would work with our behold 2 and surely enough it does.
Instructions on how to use proxy:
Open up the (default) browser on your Samsung Behold.
Type in the following address into the : tmo-x.co.cc/tmobilex/
Type in the address you want to visit in the form on the page and select whether or not you want to use my HTML trick (free; allows you to see sites in full HTML not 'WAP-stripped').
After many attempts to try and use the terminal emulator that is already preloaded onto the behold 2 , and many failures..After trying out different Terminal Em.'s and always having my phone lag because they wernt made for it...i have finally found a way to get terminal emulator working with no lag or no slow down in performance... First you must have root,of course, Next, Use an app called root explorer or something similar and goto the folder /system/app/ and find the two files Term.apk and Term.odex, and MOVE them to your sd card from your phone, you want them gone from your system/app folder After that simply goto the market and search for Terminal Emulator , re-download and there you have it, Working term. em. on the behold 2.Peace Ladz.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just recently bought a Behold 2 with the price drop. I like the phone except that it is very slow.
So i would like to root it and run a factory1.6 no twiz rom on it, but I'm having issues while doing it!....
I was succesfully able to get adb to detect my phone serial. but whenever I type in: adb shell /data/local/try3 /system/bin/sh
in the CMD, it returns with "permission denied"
Have the phone. Went through all the fun of finding my own prefered ring tone - well I made it from a song, and another ring tone for other uses.
Set them up, set the "Message" tone, set the alarm tone and all was good.
It wasn't long after that I bought a SANDISC8 gig SD card.
Coppied ALL files over and swapped the cards.
I am not sure exactly WHEN the problem started, but it still exists.
Now and then the phone is in my pocket and it starts making a sound. It isn't one I selected, so ignore it until it becomes obvious it is mine as no-one else is talking on their phone.
I look and it is a message/phone call/alarm.
They are NOT the ones I set. So I go through the process of seting them back to what I like.
Someone says it could be a dicky SD card. I shall test that soon by putting back the original one and seeing what happens. The only problem with that is that it is SO INTERMITANT that it is hard to know if it is or not really the problem.
Every time I start my phone it seems that every program in the app catalog starts up. Until I activate the Advanced Task Killer and shut them all down, the thing runs like a hog. I have quite a few programs installed, but I dont use them all all of the time. Why do they all start up and is there any way beside the ATK to stop them? Is there any way to modify the startup files?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the root of your SD card create the following folders
Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.
