Now that we're a month in to the official 2.1. Is there a way to have individual alert tones for different SMS contacts, just like you can have different ringtones for voice contacts?

can you set custom texting tones while texting? say i press the letter "A" can i make it play a sound as i press that letter?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhat I am needing is some ring tones other than the default ones that come on this phone. I have found a few on the Market but so far none are filling the bill as to what I need. Basically I have a little hearing loss so prefer basic tone type ring tones rather than a tune or clip from some song or movie. Funny but I kinda like the ring tone of the old standard phone ringer. Can someone suggest something on the Market or some other alternative? I suppose it's as easy as downloading anything using my computer and sending it to my cell phone and using it from there.

I'm trying to set the tone for text notifications.If I go to Settings>Sound>Notification Ringtone it only gives me the pre-loaded sounds.If i go to the sound file in my phone and click "set as" it only gives me options for voice call ringtone, caller ringtone, and alarm tone.
View 8 Replies View RelatedJust got my Moment and noticed that I can not have different tones for text, voicemail, and email. They all have to be the same as well as when I plug the usb cord into and disconnect it from the phone. Any idea if 2.1 is going to allow people to customize the tones for the phone? I really depend on those. I use the sound to determine weather or not I need to get to the phone to check on it or if I can just ignore it. Also any idea on the voice command? The one that comes with it is worthless, I really liked the "live search" from the instict and you would think Samsung would be able to put in the moment since it was in the instinct.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been eyeing the Moment and have toyed around with it and the Hero at the Sprint store. Why is it that people seem to prefer the Hero to the Moment almost 2 to 1? It seems to me that the specs are better, screen is nicer, and the UI can be customized to be as "pretty" as the Hero. Is there something I'm missing?
On a similar note, how is the custom rom community for the Moment? I know there are a number of roms available for the Hero, but I can't even find anything in development for the Moment. I'm not even clear that it can be rooted yet (definitely want to do that so I can install to the SD card).
Just got my Hero and wondering are there any apps to allow you to specify different sms tones for individual contacts? Would be nice if I could switch off alerts from certain contacts, and give custom tones to individual contacts?

Well before that I had no problem putting custom alerts for email and text messages. Well now I have my own Incredible and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it again. Was something changed when the update to froyo went through or something? Someone help me out...I can't stand the preinstalled sounds.

View 6 Replies View Relatedi cant figure how to put assign custom notification ringtones on my samsung moment. i have the ringtones in a folder on the sd card and i was able to play them thru the music app and assign the one i wanted for the ringer but i cant get the one i want for sms to work. i have had my moment for less then 2 days (and charged it six times) and i tried searching but came up with nothing.

You can install these a number of different ways. Forget all that and let's make it easy! You must have root to do this.
1) Download file and rename to LiveWallpapers.apk
2) Place in root of SD card.
3) Open Root Explorer and go to SD card, then long press file (LiveWallpapers.apk) and select copy.
4) Back up and go to the System folder, then Apps.
5) Hit the big button on top to mount as Mount as R/W.
6) Press paste, it will ask you to overwrite file, press yes.
7) After this is done select the LiveWallpapers.apk and long press to bring up permissions. Change permissions to User- Read and Write, Group- Read, Others-Read then OK. Hit the big button on top to mount as R/O again!
8) Reboot and then long press the screen, bring up live wallpapers, then select Nexus, then enjoy!
I want to change the sound I hear when receiving a SMS message. I have successfully downloaded the BB sonar sound that I want to use.
I can't find the place to set the custom tone.
I see the list that the dx provides but no custom option.
Can you set custom tones for contacts calls and sms?

Joey had it out 5-6 hours after source was released this contains Numus' battery code and more.
A server error has occurred. This is after I flashed a custom ROM. DO NOT point me to SDX because they have not provided me with any solutions to it. DO NOT move this to the Root sub-forum because it's hardly active.
I just need someone somewhere to tell me how to fix this because apparently Moment Root developers are too sad to find a fix.
I have my default ring tone set. I then went under contacts and set certain ring tones for my wife, family etc... I had my wife call me and it rings with the default ring tone. I have tried everything and nothing seems to change. Anyone that calls that I have a preset ring tone for, it just uses the default for the phone.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been a Blackberry user for years, and finally ditched my old berry friend, for a Galaxy Nexus. Thus far, I have had to Google how to's for everything I've wanted to customize: ie ringtones, changing default tones, even the colour of my sms window. I've been able to figure everything out, but am stuck on creating custom tones for emails from specific contacts. With my trusted berry, custom tones for email and sms were linked together for my contacts. So whether I received a txt, or an email from "John", I would hear the specific tone I'd set for him. With my Nexus, I've learned the same is not true. I can only customize contact sounds for sms (and of course, only with an App, I really like Ringo btw). Emails, not so much. They all come in under the one tone, regardless of who it was from.

Can you read people's away messages with this phone, if so how? When i get a new IM, i get sent a website browser in the notification along with the the person's screen name who IMed me, but when i click the link, it never loads up and shows an error, anyway to fix this or anything?
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen i try and download odin downloader it is saved and when i go to open it it says that "windows can not open this file" then it gives 2 options of use web service to find correct program and select a program from a list of installed programs. The file is downloaded as a .rar file if it matters. This also happens when i try to download the newest kernel.
