View 7 RepliesIs there anything like itunes that will integrate with my cappy? I really want to setup nice music libaries and have a backup system going where i can take files on and off the cappy without loseing them on the computer side. Does anything do this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a blu ray rip of super bad in 720p. total file size is 4.7gbs. For some reason windows will not let me sync the file through media player or drag and drop.when I drag and drop it just says "windows explorer failed blah blah" and automatically closes.I have .mkv codecs on my computer, the files play seamlessly. Is it because the file size is too big?any ideas?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm going to exchange my Cappy at bestbuy today. I had 100% battery when I woke up, make an 3 min call, browsed for about 15 minutes and I'm down to 70%. I normally have to charge it 2 or more times a day. The battery usage thing shows display using 70%. That seems a bit high. Its on its lowest brightness setting too
Then the GPS thing. it would be nice if that worked. I'm going to love this phone one way or another!
My phone was built on 7/10/2010, the battery was 7/4/2010. Is there an easy way to tell if its a newer build or not? Does anyone know the IEMI breakdown?
And if so, what are your circumstances ? no WiFi ? heavy user? what do you have syncing etc ?
I would like to know whether many people actually exceed 1GB of 3g/H data per month especially after the honeymoon period.
Can those with data monitoring widgets provide some figures please ?
I have an unlocked captivate. I have a German T-D1 pay-as-you-go sim that I've used many times in unlocked GPS phones. Now I have an AT&T captivate and wonder whether GPS or other apps will work. Does GPS require a data plan to work? If so I'll have to figure out whetted I can add this to my T-D1 plan. This will also answer my question about whether using the Captivate for navigation in the US needs a data plan to work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was looking at my upgrade options and total pricing with regard to the Captivate. When I added the phone as an upgrade, not only did it not make me choose a data plan, it didn't even give me a choice to pick a data plan (at the moment I have just minutes and texts). Is this an error on the ATT system or you can get the phone and the data plan is only set up once you use the phone?
Because what I am thinking is upgrading 2 lines on my family plan - my line with an iPhone which requires data when you purchase the phone, and the Samsung on the line that will not get Data. I will only use one phone (the Samsung on my line) and sell the iPhone brand new in box. Will that work or will ATT realize when I only have one phone in use on my plan even though I 'upgraded/renewed' two lines?
I know that it's possible to determine the data connection type (WIFI/or cellular) through Android, but is it possible to determine the cellular connection type and strength?
I have an app that downloads some images and I have found that on GPRS or on 3G with weak signal that this download process slows up the app unacceptably. What I want to do is say that if you have either WIFI or a strong and fast data connection then download; otherwise display a default placeholder image.
I can get the device (owner's)phone via Code...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just reading in another of the forums here that the HTC Hero calendar does not have a week view. This led me to the Samsung manual (I don't own the phone) to confirm that it does have a week view (*phew*). My question is: How do you go to the next/previous day/week/month when you're in each view? Is it a simple one-click or swipe operation (like in Palm OS), or do you have to back out to, say, month view and drill in again (like, apparently, on the HTC Hero)?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHas anyone yet found a solution to determining data usage on a per-app basis that works with the Captivate? The only two market apps I've found, TrafficInfo and TrafficStats, both require Android 2.2 which of course isn't an option for us (yet).I had been fine but recently have seen my data usage skyrocket from 500-600MB per month to 200-300MB per DAY and yesterday over 500MB. At this rate I am going to blow through my 2GB only 11 days into my monthly billing cycle.

View 4 Replies View RelatedPer engadget, Android phones and their eternal struggle to get the latest version update, it's a book that needs to be written. It was only last night that we were hearing that the Froyo upgrade for Spanish Galaxy S users would be pushed back till late October, yet today our emotions are swung back the other way by news of T-Mobile promising the exact same update by the end of this month. If our solar calendars are accurate, that means there'll be no more than a 10-day wait left for T-Mo customers using this 4-incher. We'll bug the other networks as well to see whether their 2.2 updates are in the mail or still lost somewhere in the frozen isle.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I was about to pick up a Captivate today until I spoke with the sales rep about my data plan. I am still using the 1st gen iPhone with the unlimited edge plan. He told me that there was no way for me to use the Captivate with the old plan unless I upgrade to the new ones.
I remember reading online awhile back that used the upgrade path from the 1st iPhone to any of the 3g iPhones, which makes it sound like he is BS'ing. I don't know if it still holds true for the Captivate though.
what eats up the most data on this phone. so far in a week I'm at 720mb. Is it just the fact that I have no internet at my house so that means no wifi for the time being so I use the phone for basically everything. Also is there a spot on the phone to check the data so I don't have to go to the att website to check it.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi need to get some info from you guys. to all who had the unlimited data plan w/ ATT before purchasing this phone, were you all able be grandfathered in to the unlimited data plan or were you forced to take on the new data plan which is limited? ive spoken to several ATT reps and was given mixed information regarding this matter. unfortunately i had to take on the new limited data plan with 2GBs. please give me your comments and insights.
View 40 Replies View RelatedI checked my data usage at the AT&T web site and found that the phone was sending lots of data on its own. One night while sitting on the counter it sent over 19 megabytes at 2:41 am. For 4 nights in a row a data transmission ocurred at this exact time. Following are excerpts from my bill: Code...

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems like my 3GEdge is disabled and I can't re-enable. I installed APNDroid and using it to turn it on and off makes no difference. Power cycled the phone a few times. Wifi on or off, away from hot spots nothing seems to ever get me a mobile data service now. Dug through all the menu settings I can find and everything appears to be turned on but I never get the symbols at top or any data.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWell, right now, I have an iPhone 2G with a 20 dollar data plan that also includes 200 texts. It's part of a family plan, and I'm probably going to go Samsung Captivate or iPhone 4 in a few days. My questions include
1. Can I just use the 20 dollar data plan for the iPhone with that phone, like, without them knowing? Any serious consequences involved with it?
2. Similar to the first question, can I just use the non-smartphone data plan, which is 15 bucks a month, and use that with the Captivate? Would they know which phone is using it?
3. Once I switch to limited data, like 200 MB or 2 GB, can I switch back to unlimited?
I don't pay my own bills, parents do, but don't want to put on an extra 10 or 15 dollars a month right now, just for data, when I could just continue using whatever I'm using.
Does it cost more and if it just uses my data plan, how much data would it use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just installed Pandora and there was screen that said... "Warning Pandora Uses a lot of Data". So I was wondering... If I am using it wirelessly at home will it be using my data plan or not?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI went to private AT&T dealer to upgrade my phone, contract has been renewed for 2 years, and that guy changed my unlimited data plan (it was $15/mo too) to the 200MB one. He said my previous unlimited data plan was not for smartphones (actually I did not use AT&T branded phone before Captivate, I bought SonyEricsson X1 for my self), if I chose to upgrade the unknown AT&T phone to captivate, they have to change my data plan to the 200MB limit one. Is his explanation true? I want my unlimited data plan.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs their a way to tell how much data you have used like on the iphone?
View 4 Replies View RelatedCanada is incredibly close, and I'm going to be visiting it again in a week but the first time since having a smartphone. I'd like to leave the phone on for voice calls and wifi (I've researched and understand the per-min rates), but I want to guarantee that not 1 byte of data will transfer and incur me some obscene surcharge.
Here's my plan:
- Turn off "data roaming"
- Uncheck "background data"
- Uncheck "auto-sync"
- Using QuickSettings, toggle "APN control" (seems to do the same thing as the APNDroid and Toggle Data apps)
Have I covered all my bases?
