Is it possible to watch videos on xfinity or espn3.com on the captivate? Im able to access the comcast and espn3 websites but when i click on the episode or video it doesnt load. do i need another media player?

I just got my Samsung Captivate at my local AT&T store on November 20th. Everything has been pretty good with it except trying to watch videos. It doesn't matter what site I'm trying to watch videos from, youtube or any other, my Captivate doesn't seem to be able to download the video fast enough. It will play for 15 seconds or so until it reaches the end of what it has downloaded at the time, then freezes and will wait until it downloads the full video before starting up again. It's done this even when I had a 3G signal. It can take several minutes for it to download a 2 minute video. I've had it right beside my friend's iPhone, downloading at the same time, same video and he has no problem. A Samsung tech told me to try and watch the video in Wi-fi. That's great and all, but I shouldn't have to. Everything else has been good on the fun but trying to watch videos (which I like doing). Are their any settings I could change that may fix this problem? I deleted all my apps and it still does the same.

I have a vista machine that has about 400 gigs of music. we are a pc family so my media folders are shared via the wireless network. Is there an app/player that would allow me to browse my shared pc folders and playlist and allow me to stream this music and video? The closest I could find is an app called subsonic. Its not quite what im looking for. samsungs allshare is very basic. subsonic can be a bit complicated for folks that dont know how to set up port forwarding and static lan ip's and also, any apps that would let your phone control windows media player?

View 12 Replies View RelatedWell, I am sure that at some point in time you all have sent a video but I am trying to figure out why I can't send videos. Last night, I was performing at a night club and I wanted to send the videos to friends and what not so they can hear our singing. However, the video clips are anywhere from 8-20 seconds long and they are not in HD quality but 3gp. Yet it tells me the message can't be attached because it's too large.
Today I had a show, and my brother recorded me and I wanted to send the video out and it still says the same thing. Is there anything I can do? I love At & T but I am wondering does this have anything to do with their Data cap because when I had my Droid X and Incredible on Verizon. I was able to send videos up to 30 seconds long to phones via MMS but I can't send videos on my Captivate. I couldn't send videos either on the Xperia X10, I had, the aria I had, and now the backflip. (I am just using it because I love motoblur for the social networking, not the phone).
Reason why I ask is because I have a 25 second video that I recorded with my phone and when I try to send it to my buddy through text message it says that the file is too big? So I said give me your email address and I'll send there and lo and behold the file is too big even for email. smh? It's only 25 seconds!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am so frustrated with Double Twist. I downloaded the samsung drivers and double twist immediately fount my captivate. I downloaded some of my itunes music. While I was trying to download some of my video, Double Twist went blank and could no longer find my captivate. I have redownloaded the drivers, but the captivate is not being found.

Also, any idea how I can get some of my songs OFF of the Captivate?
Yamb is a program I've been using to be able to change the .mov container of videos to .mp4. Basically, what I use it for is to download movie trailers off the iTunes store, and make them compatible to watch through my PS3 (or Xbox 360) on my 50" HDTV and my surround sound system. I have connection, etc but the option just decides not to show up and the only way I got it back the last few times its done it is by turning the phone off/on. Anybody else run into this or am I missing something?
I rooted my captivate thinking that i could install apps that are blocked on my phone, like Sirius XM, WiFI tethering.....even after rooting the programs are still being blocked and i cant install them. am i missing something? im new to android and had an iphone that i jail broke. im confused on what rooting actually.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? It happens at the top of the screen just to the right below the battery. It's a quick yellow glow then it disappears until my phone is locked then unlocked again. Now I have an AT&T captivate and wonder whether GPS or other apps will work. Does GPS require a data plan to work? If so I'll have to figure out whetted I can add this to my T-D1 plan. When the phone vibrates during a call, it causes a severe rattling noise when the phone is in my hands or if the bottom is not resting against a hard object. Removing the battery compartment cover and repeat, and the rattle is non existent. With the battery cover on, the rattle can be diminished by pressing firmly on the top section of the cover.

I am having an issue with my M3U playlists.
I use the default Samsung media player, Isyncr and Itunes. Although I have also used the Doubletwist Player (not the desktop software) and had the same issue, I just prefer the Samsung default player mainly because of the lock screen app.
Here is the issue.
First, I sync my playlists with Itunes using Isyncr, all of the songs come over great, art and tags, everything is perfect. It also creates M3U playlists on my phone. I double checked that everything is there.
Then when I unmount, media scanner scans my SD card (which takes way longer than it should) and it deletes all of my playlists. Now a little research on XDA forums tells me that this is because anytime the media scanner scans a playlist and can't find all of the songs from that playlist, it assumes it is an old playlist and deletes it. The problem is that when I look through the M3U files, every song referenced in the list is on the card...they are all there, yet it keeps deleting them.
Does anyone know of a solution to make it stop deleting my playlists?
