I've had sprint for years so didn't just port my number over but I don't get texts at random times and even updating prl or shutting the phone off wont fix it. Is this just my device I am picking up a new one tomorrow for other reasons but I want to know if I will prob get the same experience.

I'm new to Android as I just got the Nexus One. On my previous flipphone, when I get a text message, it will make the ringtone sound a 4 or 5 times. My question is how to set android to do multiple rings for texts instead of once? Also, is there a way to make it sound the notification ringtone for texts only, and not for app alerts, like the weather channel widget?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have the HTC Hero from Sprint. Great little phone. I'm having issues with texting. Here's my scenario.I receive a text from Facebook stating someone wrote on my wall. The from id is 123456789. I then get a text from a friend George. In the list view of of my texts George's text showing under the Facebook number. When I press on the Facebook name it shows the text from Facebook then from George. If I reply it goes to Facebook not George.It also happens under different users, appears to be very random and is causing issues as I'm trying to quickly reply, forget to check who it's going to, then I text someone something I shouldn't have. Not cool.Any ideas how to fix it? I downloaded Handcent SMS as well and that is having the same issue so it appears to be a root droid issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've had my Incredible since 4/28, and everything has been working smoothly up until about last Thursday night when it just restarted out of the blue while I was listening to music. Then right after it booted up, it restarted again, then again about seven more times. I got fed up and took out the SD card and it seemed to stop after that, so I haven't put the SD card back in since then.
Just now, Wednesday, about a week later, I was browsing around on the internet and all of a sudden, it restarted, and then again, and again, and again. I've read that it is because of poor signal strength or something like that so I had just enough time to put it in airplane mode before it restarted again.
Side note, that theory about it being caused by poor signal seems to make sense because the first time it happened to me I was out of town in a city that gets very bad coverage with Verizon, and now today when it started happening again was at my house where for some reason I get very bad service with the incredible, my old phone worked perfectly fine in my house but the incredible gets terrible service, and so does my brother's Droid. In fact, about two weeks ago I got my first dropped call on Verizon in about three years, and it was in my house.
So anyways, I decided to put it in airplane mode, and just after I put it in airplane mode it restarted again. Then when it booted back up my Helix Launcher 2 home screen went back to the standard Helix Launcher 2 icons, I go into my messages and everything is gone, my contacts are all gone, everything is gone. I go to the app menu and all my apps are still there, but when I start up an app, all the custom settings are default now. I went into the settings and my accounts are all still there. I click on internet and I get a terms of service agreement, it's as if I am booting it up for the first time, but for some reason my apps and accounts are all still there.
I turn airplane mode off thinking it might have something to do with it not being connected to my google account, and I restart it again and everything is still gone. I don't know what to do, has this happened to anyone before? I feel like there should be a way for me to get this stuff back since my apps are still there and my accounts are still synced, but random things are missing like my contacts and messages etc. This is really starting to get annoying, I have insurance and everything, but I really don't want to exchange it for another one because I've read that other people who have had there phones replaced have still had the same rebooting problem, even after going through multiple replacements.
Idk what else i can do. i started out on rooted 2.1. At first it was complete fine up until a few weeks ago. Once it started i decided to flash a barebones rooted 2.2 ROM over and i figured it would get rid of the issue. That didn't help it either. So i moved to a more well known ROM thinking maybe it will fix it so i flashed over skyraider 3.3 with sense and its still doing it. This happens like 3 times a day and sometimes it will get caught in a boot loop where it restarts before its even completely loaded. So i have to pull the battery for like 10 min. What else can i do? its soooo annoying
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC One X and for the last day or so, it has begun to reboot itself randomly and quite often. There is no specific time of use before it reboots. It's completely random. It can just be sitting there idle, and just all of a sudden reboot itself.
The battery is not dead or dying.
The phone is not overheating.
I have no updates available and my last update was a few months ago and it was fine up until the last day or two.
The phone is not rooted.
So I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?

Should I be worried? And do you think it was from updating the app it must of been a minute or so after I updated it

My screen will randomly start to dim as I'm using it to say scroll through contacts or texting and the screen will go to like 50% brightness. Is this a bug because why would it be dimming if I am using the phone?
View 16 Replies View RelatedFrom time to time, I'm getting a random volume down stuck. What this means is that my phone lowers the volume by itself, not by me accidentally pressing the volume down key. The problem is solved by pressing the volume up key, and only then, trying to swipe the volume does no good because the phone still continues to lower the volume. After that, you can't use the power button nor the volume down button, it's like they're disabled, you press them and nothing happens. You wait some time, and then you can use them again.
It seems to happen the most when phone is charging and when the battery goes low, but, to be honest, I just couldn't figure out the main cause for this type of behavior. Today I was taking some pictures and suddenly the volume slider came up, showing the volume lowering down rapidly. I've had this problem ever since I first rooted my phone, but it's time to try and figure out the underlying problem.
Phone's hardware checks out, it's perfect (I've had had my doubts in the past, but wherever the phone had been taken, it checked out fine) everywhere I take it it's said that that's a software issue.
So its been about a month and a half that I've had my captivate. I've had a few problems with the phone and have searched them, I have found most have the same problems but no one gives any answers to what you can do to fix it.
Problems:
.phone restarts at random times until the battery is taken out and put back in
.text messages delete at random times
.phone does not sync with Facebook
.it does not retrieve e-mails
.gets a bit laggy at times for a 1gHz processor
.seems like the side buttons seems a smashed in and do not "click" properly
Does anyone have any answers to these problems?
Also I wanted to do a factory restore so how can I save my files/ contacts/ etc before I do this to see if it fixes any of the problems.

I have gallery which contains a listview.
when you scroll sometimes the views inside the listview doesnt appear. i can see a shadow which belongs to listview but nothing inside listview appears
i have tried using invalidateviews on listview whenever the view becomes selected.
I am not sure how to resolve this.
Much of the time I get a text message from an iPhone it either:
1) Comes through multiple times (this happens with AT&T iPhones)
Or
2) Comes through chopped up into individual messages that are also displayed out of order (usually from Verizon iPhones)
I have a screenshot of issue No. 2 but the AC app is not letting me upload it for some reason (never had an issue before) and I can't get the link to work from the desktop (grrr)
Are these issues because of iMessage and what looks like its inability to play well with anything non-Apple? LG-E970
Went to sleep with approximately 25 text threads. When I woke up and looked at my phone there were no message to be found. Everything was erased. Very strange. For the record I have the "delete old messages" unchecked.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, I am running stock 2.2 on an unbranded Desire, with latest firmware from HTC. Sometimes when I go to my messages and say, click on messages from "John", messages from a random other contact come up. If I click back and click John again, the correct messages appear. It doesn't happen all the time (maybe once every few days?), but unless I am careful I end up sending a message to the wrong person. I have tried restarting the phone, but don't really want to factory reset for such a minor issue. Never happened under 2.1.

View 30 Replies View RelatedSince day 1 of getting this phone, I've been bombarded with text messages from TMZ (hollywood gossip company). I usually get anywhere from 5-20 text from them a day. Like I said, this has been an ongoing thing since day one and it's progressively getting worse. Ive never been to their site, no one has touched my phone and gone to their site nor text them. I keep a close watch over my phone at all times.
Is there any way I can block them? Its from "52966" TMZ News Alert.
I have connections in all different time zones, and I used to schedule my texts to go out during their daytime hours. Now with 4.3, I do not seem to have that option.

I get them randomly, and to me it seems like it�s sending me my coordinates, and bhpbear_2000 is my yahoo. Any clue? So the user selects a burger type from a spinner, then the user can enter in the quantity and then there is some math taking place in the background which sets a text view at the bottom with the total price. I'm not sure what method I'm meant to use so that it is updated dynamically when the user changes the text view quantity.
If i just say that all burgers are 2.50, i need some sort of method saying, if/when data is entered into the edit text , take that data and then times it by 2.50 and set it in the total text view below. I'm just unsure on the method part of it so it's dynamic and will change when the edit text quantity is altered.

I somehow (knowingly or unknowingly) touched & dialled a number from an adult content app and then hung up. Since that day, I keep getting text msgs from different numbers, with lewd text & asking me to call a number (constant across all these sms-es). I block the number using MyVerizon number blocking service; but in 2-3 days I get similar text, asking me to call the same number, from a different number. I keep on blocking this new number (from where the text came) and they keep on sending same text from a different number. This keep on increasing my text bill.
If I reply to one of those texts saying "STOP", as the verizon customer care rep suggested, wouldn't that flag my number as LIVE and they'll start sending me more texts?How about using sms blocker apps? Again, question there is - do the sms blocker apps just delete spam msgs upon receiving and will I still incur the sms cost in my bill?
When sending a text message, I click on "new message," then type in the person's name.
When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message.
It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!
For example last night I went swimming. After my swim I got out and texted my friend "Hey man I'm done swimming, whats up"? Today I check my phone and I see that the same message got sent again randomly. I did not send the text again but somehow my phone re-sent that text, and literally Erased the original message that I sent myself.
Same thing happened the other night - I sent a text apologizing to a friend that I couldn't hang out with her. The next day the text got re-sent to her somehow, and she responded with "what are you talking about?". I was like "Idk wtf happened my phone is randomly re-sending texts to people". What's going on? I don't think this ever happened before the latest software update.
I'm using Handcent (recent convert from BB) I have a few shortcuts setup for frequent persons I text but wondered the fastest way to compose a text for a random person in my address book. Here's what I've done:
1. press Handcent
2. press top left icon for new message
3. press + sign
4. scroll list for contact
5. press check mark
6. press check mark to select mobile phone
7. press ok
8. press menu
9. press "end select"
10. compose text.
so, that's nuts. The other way I've tried is:
1.press people shortcut
2. scroll list for contact
3. press contact
4. Look at the 3 entries for "send message" (my example contact) and try and remember which is the cell phone.
5. press send message.
6. compose text
So I guess the second way is better but I'd rather not have to figure which is the cell phone and rather than scrolling to find the name I'd rather type first letters of name.
How do I stop the text messages from popping up on the screen and scrolling across the top of the screen when they come in?

1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
