Is there a way to set the inline headphone button to do something other than start/stop media? I would like to set it to something more useful such as search so I can remotely activate Vlingo.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am very happy with my X10 Mini Pro. I am a fan of Sony Ericsson Phones for years I had a W995 IO still have it and like it very much. But people this X10 Mini Pro is a wonderful device. I had to get used too it. But now after two weeks fine tuning the phone I am very happy with it. I am still in doubt if it needs a hardware button for starting and stopping a phonecall. I wonder what other user4s think about this?

View 10 Replies View RelatedSo I've recently transferred from iPhone to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and one of the first things that I noticed was the fact that whenever I press the button on my headphones to either change tracks or just pause the song, the time taken for it to do so is at least 5 seconds, once it took 20 seconds just to pause! I've been using spotify to listen to my music by the way.

I am having an issue with my M3U playlists.
I use the default Samsung media player, Isyncr and Itunes. Although I have also used the Doubletwist Player (not the desktop software) and had the same issue, I just prefer the Samsung default player mainly because of the lock screen app.
Here is the issue.
First, I sync my playlists with Itunes using Isyncr, all of the songs come over great, art and tags, everything is perfect. It also creates M3U playlists on my phone. I double checked that everything is there.
Then when I unmount, media scanner scans my SD card (which takes way longer than it should) and it deletes all of my playlists. Now a little research on XDA forums tells me that this is because anytime the media scanner scans a playlist and can't find all of the songs from that playlist, it assumes it is an old playlist and deletes it. The problem is that when I look through the M3U files, every song referenced in the list is on the card...they are all there, yet it keeps deleting them.
Does anyone know of a solution to make it stop deleting my playlists?
I know that some people were able to do this with the Nexus One. So has anyone (who has gotten it early) done the same?

I recently bought a Vodafone HTC Magic in Australia (and am loving it and the Android OS ).
I also bought myself two adapters for it, one was a cheap one which plugs into the usb port and just becomes a 3.5mm plug (which fell to pieces rather quickly) and another which was more expensive and a 4 in one adapter. It allows you to plug in headphones and charge at the same time.

My problem is that the more expensive adapter doesn't work. The cheap one worked fine, but when I plug this one in, the sound won't come out of the headphones.
I managed to get the sound to come out the adapter as long as I plugged the headset supplied with the phone into the adapter. The sound would still come out when I removed the headset.
I think it's the phone just needs to be set in a mode that plays the sound through the adapter, but I'm not sure.
I'm thinking of getting a Samsung Captivate to replace my Treo 650/Archos 5 (4.8in pmp, the headphone jack of which died). My question is, how is the video/music player on the Captivate? I've been looking for days, and have a decent idea of the music player, but I can't find even one article or post saying anything about the media player besides the codecs/containers it can play. Can anyone vouch for its ability to play 720p h.264 or xvid videos? I was thinking of getting an Archos 32 (low end android based pmp) for its media capabilities, but realized for about the same price I could get a captivate.

I notice everytime I turn on the phone a bunch of app also start such as messenger, paypal, voice, fring etc.. so the first thing I do after turn the phone on was using task advance to kill all those apps. View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running Android on my HD2 and have recently bought a charging/media dock and a BT earbud set.
A problem I didn't anticipate is that my phone seems to prioritise the phone jack over my bluetooth, so while the phone is charging songs are not sent out via bluetooth. The cradle has a fixed headphone jack so I cannot just not-plug-it-in, unfortunately.
Unplugging the phone from the cradle fixes it, but nullifies the cradle.
Any idea if I can force Android to use bluetooth even if the jack is occupied? Alternatively, can I disable the jack entirely so the phone will continue using the bluetooth like nothing is different?
Tried some googling and searching here, but only seems to be about jacks being dodgy/skipping. Not my issue.
So I understand there are known issues with the Market getting stuck at "Starting Download" but here's my problem. I removed GoogleTalk which seems to be the route of the issue and now I can't seem to get it back. Also, ever since then I get the following error message upon booting: "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. dumpstate_app_201008021101_com_google_process_gapp s.log has been saved. Use *#9900# to copy out log." I'd rather not have to factory reset since I'm already rooted and was just getting things the way I liked them.

When I go on the phone using the browser to gmail I can see the pictures, when using the email app I cannot. Two questions.
1. Is there a difference between the email app that comes with the phone and the Gmail app. I have a Gmail email address and no other email accounts.
2. Are there other apps that are better about inline images?

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm talking, my hair tends to press the mute button on the home screen and the other person cannot hear me. I've searched but can't find a way to make this stop. An app, a better phone-holding technique--I'll try just about anything. Also, for some reason I had a glitch the other day... I made a phone call, got my friend's voicemail, and then was unable to hang up the call. I ended up leaving a rather long, embarrassing voicemail message until I just went in and force stopped the dialer app, but at least my friend has a good sense of humor.
View 9 Replies View RelatedFor the last few weeks when I get a text message or email I get the regular notification but also another/different "icon" for the same message; so I end up with two icons in my notification bar. And the only way the "new" icon can be cleared from my notification bar is if I physically pull down the bar and press clear (even if I've read the message it stays there until I clear it). It's starting to drive me crazy...my ringtone even goes off twice. Anyone have an idea on why this is happening? I don't have any third party message apps installed.

Now the 'message' alert continues to go off and I can't stop it; I finally had to mute it. I have rebooted and even removed the battery and it won't stop.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI long press on my homescreen widget, the resize "handle" appears, I resize the widget, I can do absolutely nothing else. Stuck in resizing hell. Have to re-boot to stop the insane amount of resizing going on.
After re-boot the f'n widget is back to the same undesirable old size.
Has anyone figured out a way to have the Captivate default browser not load mobile pages? I didn't fork out all this extra money to load websites in the same format as my old flip phone.
