So at the request of my wife, I rooted and fixed her mom's Captivate (me and my wife both run Fascinate's).
Now, sometime later, her mom is now requesting that the mini diary app be re-installed.
The Root fix i used was the release the beast fix. Is there any way someone can post up the APK to be re-installed so I don't have to go through returning the phone to stock?

Anyone using the Mini Diary? Seems like a decent app for preparing Facebook updates without having to post them right then and there. I tried a test publish and it keeps failing. Any idea how to make it work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running win xp and my captivate has the new update stock. Not rooted. I have tried many times with many different drivers. uninstall them all and tried again with no luck. In the device manager next to the S3C6410 Android ADB there is always a yellow " ! ". I loaded kies.uninstall it then install the newest one. Also installed the sdk. Still no adb driver will load. . wtf. mass storge works. Just not the adb. It's driving me nuts.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI was installing some apps from the market last night and all was going well until one application got stuck. The Market shows it as installing but nothing is happening. The Market still seems to function to load other apps but I have tried pulling the battery, cleaning the cache etc and no matter what I do when I go back to the downloads page the install on this app is still in progress. The Captivate is not rooted and I am not really keen on a hard reset as I have lots of apps and data. Any ideas from you pros out there?

I went to install the droid x Eye wallpaper - I transferred to my SD, then tried to install using Astro File Manager.. I get the popup stating that "For security, your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in the Android Market".
Is this because Astro is not using super user privileges?

I removed the battery and restarted and flashed the factory ATT ROM and that worked fine. Why this is just hanging up on install. Seems everyone else who's downloaded it had no trouble. I've tried the file direct from design gears and also the mirror on multiupload.
Was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a tutorial on changing icons. Do I need a specific launcher to switch to text icons in the dock? I am not rooted, not even sure what that means but I haven't customized the phone at all.

I just bought a Captivate today and was all excited to fill it with my music and photos and whatnot, but then when I plugged it in I couldn't see anything in My Computer! Everything seemed ok at first until i went to my homescreen, total blackness. Ultimately i wanted to get rid of tw because i don't like the UI wanted the stock droid launcher or LauncherPro or something. How do install the .apk file without touchwiz? or get my launcher back.

How to Install ClockWork Recovery:
1. On the menu there should be an option labeled �FLASH CLOCKWORK RECOVERY.�
Press it.
2. Once a popup says that it has been succesful press �BACKUP CURRENT ROM�
3. Your phone will now restart and backup your ROM
4. If your phone does not start backing up and instead boots into a blue menu use the volume
keys to select reboot now and then press the power button. Try to do all the steps again.
5. Wait for it to finish and then it should restart.
Is this considered a Nandroid backup? Is there anything else I need to do as far as backups or is this the best method?
This will allow me to go back to my stock Rom at any point , is that correct?
Then I should use Titanium Backup for data/apps/settings?
Is it possible to just install stock Android 2.2 on the Captivate or any phone for that matter. Like if you do not want touchwiz or At&t bloatware. If so, will you be able to update it continually over the air, or to get the newest release must you plug it into your computer each time.

Seemed pretty straightforward, but isn't working because I have no update.zip created by ROM Manager. When I did the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" step no update.zip file was created in the internal SD root. Buried in the clockwork mod folder is recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.2-captivate.zip, do I move this and rename it?
I am unable to install the USB drivers for Windows XP - I have downloaded the correct zip file, but the drivers are marked as being detrimental to Windows XP somehow and they just won't install. Can I copy them out of the zip file and manually put them somewhere? I'm inching ever so slowly towards rooting and am trying to get my ducks in line - but they're not cooperating.
