So I'm a new Captivate owner and want to try and root my phone and perhaps try bugless beast. For the life of me I cannot get it to boot into the recovery manager. Every thing I read says hold down the volume up volume down and power keys. I can't quite find the right mojo to get it going. Is there some sort of secret sequence you need to user to get it to recovery manager?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI cannot get the recovery screen to come on for the life of me. I hold the volume buttons and the power button and once the AT&T screen pops up, I release the power button. It sits there for a second and the screen goes black. I have tried releasing the power buttons then and I have tried holding them as well.

After that I did the app2sd method and that's where my issue started.
Basically followed it step by step and now my phone just sits at HTC quietly brilliant and every 30 seconds it goes black and back to the white screen.
I'm at the point where i just rooted my captivate. I was wondering, before I went any further, how do I back up this copy of my phones current state. I installed ROM manager, I'm not sure how to back up though.. someone help please?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having so much trouble but now I have gotten to the point where it tells me the upgrade went well and is done, but now when I try and get into recovery it just goes back to the Bootloader screen and won't boot into recovery even with the adb reboot recovery command.I tried to run the unrevoked again and it passed but when it does the last reboot to recovery is sits for a second the phone does nothing and then says done.I would have assumed it would have booted to the recovery console at that point?

View 1 Replies View Relatedi originally rooted my phone using the sprecovery method. i also loaded up chevyno1's 1100lv kernal that same way.i was told to use rom manager to load up a new ROM in order to make it easier on myself to go back to the stock ROM should i choose to.i installed rommanager, and applied the new rom. nothing happened. it didn't load, my phone rebooted normally. i tried manually going into recovery and nothing happens. the big "m" stays on there for a while, blinks and stays on there a bit longer. it will stay there as long as im holding "x" down.can i uninstall rom manager and fix this issue? any other way?

If I am rooted and do a backup by booting into Clockwork recovery and do a backup, does that save everything on the internal memory of my phone/tablet?
I have searched all over and I am not clear if it includes stuff I copy (like music, pictures) or it is just the ROM, apps and app data.
It seems like you can only backup to the internal memory. What do you do if the backup gets too big to fit on there?
I have been using Advanced Task Manager and its been working perfect. I did notice that after I ended the apps later on they would show up again on the list. Some of the the apps that start again have not been run by me in days but just show up on the Tasks List. Why would an app come on if I did not run it?

Anyway quick question, since AT&T blocks off apps such as PDAnet and WiFi tethering apps of the market place, if I were to root, would I be able to get one of these apps? WiFi tethering is really important to me, I always used it on my old phone.
