Sep 28, 20101) If i download a movie file of 700mb, avi, can i just transfer to my microsd or internal memory and play the file flawlessly? I needed to compress file to play on my bold, or it would be extremely choppy. Also, what about a 720p video quality movie? file size 1.4gb, will it be choppy?
2) Is there an app on android market for the android forums? one that will give notifications when replies or messages are sent? i know crackberry had one on the blackberry, but was really just a shortcut to their forums.

I was wondering what peoples experiences are with the 32gb card, and how they fill them (or if they can).I imagine that if I need to ask, then it should be apparent I don't need a 32gb card, but I still want to hear peoples experiences.

Aug 23, 2010You might have seen this around the forums or other places: 32GB MicroSD. Its the 32GB MicroSD that Verizon is selling for $99 with FREE overnight shipping for their phones. You can buy it without having anything with Verizon, though.
I now have mine installed in my Captivate and the thing is great. I have 29GB of Music/Videos/Pictures loaded up on it and playing back ANYTHING on my phone is fast and doesn't stutter. I know I had some questions about this so I just wanted to post that yes, you CAN enjoy 48GB of space on a Captivate without worrying about Class size speed issues, worrying about the card being fake, etc. Well worth the 100 bucks. The money you can save from Wirefly/Amazon/Walmart etc can easily pay for this.

Oct 7, 2010I'd like to start collecting MicroSD card benchmarks. If you have bought a MicroSD card for use in your Captivate, please help out.
To test:
Install the following:
SD Card Speed Tester - Android app on AppBrain
Run it several times to make sure you don't get a fluke low number (like from momentary activity). If your phone is idle, you should get consistent results.
Then, please post to this thread with the following:
Card brand/model
Capacity
"Class" rating
Write speed (MB/s)
Read speed (MB/s)
Although it's not made obvious, the author has updated this app so that on Galaxy S phones it appends sd/ to the test path in order to test the external card (if present).
Samsung Captivate :: Change Contact Type To Google?
Aug 29, 2010All of my contacts were transferred over from my iPhone by the AT&T store. They are now all on the SIM card, except for a few that I've copied onto the phone. None of these contacts are syncing with Gmail. After some researching it appears as though only contacts of type Google will sync with gmail. So, how do I convert my existing contacts to Google contacts? I can't seem to find anyway to do that.

Jul 28, 2010I got my phone on Monday and I've noticed that when somebody is talking to me on the phone it causes a vibration type noise. I've tried lowering the volume but it still seems to be doing it. Not to mention, even with the audio turned all the way up it's hard to hear the people I'm talking to.

Apr 1, 2010The HTC Desire has limited memory of around 570Mb RAM and 512Mb ROM. The MicroSD card can hold up to 32Gb. So, why can't HTC allow apps be stored in MicroSD card? If HTC/Google's concerned about piracy issues, i.e. copies of apps from microSD card to another microSD card, etc. There is one way round to this problem: They could have installed some kind of unique crypto-key within the Desire's ROM, and any apps saved to the microSD card are automatically encrypted on-the-fly with this crypto-key.
When apps are accessed, it is decrypted on-the-fly, too. In other words, apps will ONLY work with THAT phone it shares the SAME crypto-key. Putting a microSD card containing apps into another Android phone will not work, thus solving the piracy issue. Therefore, a message to HTC: Please allow apps to microSD card (as much as 32Gb card) and BEAT iPhone/Nokia N900 at their game!

Nov 18, 2010I bought a Kingston MicroSDHC 8 GB for use in my xperia x10 mini/pro, to replace the default 2 GB card. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work.
I am a bit confused because in the specs on the SE webiste it says that the memory can be expanded up to 16 GB. If MicroSD has a maximum storage capacity of 2 GB and the phone can't handle MicroSDHC, how do I get more memory?
General :: Swapping Internal Memory With MicroSD Bricked The Phone
Apr 15, 2014So recently I got lack of internal memory(it is only 512MB though) and I tried to swap internal memory with microSD(marked as sdcard2). However, Im noob in this and after changing the lines I understood, that I changed sdcard with sdcard2(swapped sdcard and sdcard2), however, my android system seems to be not working now. I can boot and access settings, but thats all. No menu, no apps, no anything. Empty screen, only settings accessible. I cannot access any files or anything...
What I tried:
- Connecting phone to PC as I have Android Commander program which can browse system files from pc, unfortunately, failed to connect.
- Factory reset. Didnt work.
- Recovery mode - tried all options that are available, didnt work.
The phone is Prestigio Multiphone PAP4300 DUO. When I boot to the phone, I unlock it and I get many messages saying com.android.phone, system and such things stopped working. When pressing HOME button, it goes to home, but its empty(empty screen) and tells Launcher stopped working too. All I can do is access the settings. Cant call anyone though.
What to say to warranty service when I will bring the phone to them. Can they recognize that its rooted/that the vold.fstab file is modified?

That looks to be white, but mine is black. I rooted it only. Havent done any changes to the phone until yesterday - swap the memories.
Samsung Captivate :: Out Of Memory ?
Jul 20, 2010I have had the Captivate for a day and tonight it stated that I am out of memory. I thought I had 13 GB free on the internal card? I did download a lot of free apps last night but have 10gb free after music and photos. I have used the app killer to kill processes and then I can work again. What am I doing wrong. I downloaded 30 apps I believe. I thought I heard something only x amount for apps. If this is so, then if I install a micro sd card, then can apps go there?

Jul 3, 2013A long time ago I had edited a file that is read on boot, in that file is written which one of the two 'partition' has to be mounted as what.
Basically, my 32GB microsd is seen as the internal memory of the device (which would be 12 GB), and the other one as micro sd. The result is that most application would go to the microsd by default, using thus 32GB for apps instead of 12GB.
This is because my microsd is failing. Changed with a new one, and now it is failing again. I suppose my phone has become a 'micro sd destroyer'. Cannot do anything about it, so better to use the internal memory instead of the card for main use..... So how do I switch back to normal mounting (micro sd as micro sd and internal memory as internal memory and not switched up) ?
Samsung Captivate :: When Connected To PC Only Use The SD Memory
Aug 29, 2010I do not have or use and SD card...only the internal memory. When I'm not connected to a PC it recognizes this. All of my ringtones and notifications are present.
When I connect to a PC, though, the phone seems to want to only use the SD memory. I can't see my custom tones, all applications want to use SD memory, and apps only want to download new info to a non-existent SD card.
Is there a way to change this behavior? It's driving me nuts. When I'm connected to my PC and my phone rings...it uses a default tone. The first time it happened I had no idea what the sound was.

Sep 17, 2010When I click on settings then wallpaper then gallery to change my wallpaper I get a message that says "not enough memory, delete some items." It also does this when I go straight to the gallery. I can't delete any items if I can't open the gallery. What can I do short of a factory reset.

I notice that when the phone is fresh off a reboot, it has somewhere in the neighboorhood 140-145mb or free memory, but after 10-12 hours of the phone being on it down to the 60s. Aug 10, 2010So I plugged my new Captivate into my PC (Windows 7 64-bit) and the Captivate says it's connected, but the PC shows no signs of it being connected. I called SAmsung support, and from what I could understand of what the "tech" told me, this is a bug, and there's no way for a PC to recognize the Captivate unless there's a memory card installed. is this correct? Once a 16GB memory card is installed, do you have 64-GB of storage space you can use for music, etc?
This seems like a mammoth problem - do they have any timeframe for a fix for this? Or is the "tech" incorrect? I can't believe I just bought a brand new "Smartphone" to replace my old mobile phone and MP3 player, and I can't copy files to it. Help!

Jan 4, 2010Whenever I type online whether its attempting to compose a myspace response or a general response on a message board like this, I experience annoying lag. I'm sure I'm not the only one, at least I hope I'm not, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't like that in the beginning. My question is, is this a network type thing? Or is it a memory/space type thing. I'm 90% on the wifi, and I would hope its a network thing because the lag online is becoming really annoying.
