All of my contacts were transferred over from my iPhone by the AT&T store. They are now all on the SIM card, except for a few that I've copied onto the phone. None of these contacts are syncing with Gmail. After some researching it appears as though only contacts of type Google will sync with gmail. So, how do I convert my existing contacts to Google contacts? I can't seem to find anyway to do that.

When I bought my EVO today they synced my contacts from my Verizon phone to my EVO. It looks like they are all in my phone as "phone" instead of "google" as contact type. So none of them sync to my gmail account. Is there anyway to easily change the designation so they sync instead of having to reenter them individually?

Is there a way to combine contact history in the call log? For instance on my old pearl it only showed my contact once in the log and if I clicked the contact it gave me the history.

I can easily list all the contacts by using Cursor curAllContacts = getContentResolver().query(People.CONTENT_URI, null, null, null, null); And looping through the cursor and I can use code like the sample below to get fields of data.My question is, is there any field in the people table or a related table that holds a value to define where the contact came from (SIM, Phone or Google)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen adding new contacts to the droid x, it added it as both a goggle contact and phone contact. (i only have one goggle account setup). I went into contacts -> menu -> more -> settings. I am UNABLE to check/unchecked the "Phone Contacts" (it is always checked). The goggle one i am able to check/unchecked. WHY and HOW can i toggle the phone contact? Also, backup assistant only takes PHONE contacts and not GOOGLE contacts...while g mail contact sync only takes goggle contacts and NOT PHONE contacts. How can one change phone contact to goggle contact? (i have seen posts all over but no answers...and just replies saying "i have the same problem") I am trying NOT to have two (2) different types of contacts. PHONE and GOOGLE. I just want goggle contacts ( or phone contacts. so i can at least use verizon's backup assistant.

The main negative of this is that I can not sync these contacts. Does anyone know of way to change the contact type? Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.

When I go to send a text message and press contacts, my contacts are there multiple times, but I can't see any differences because they are named the same. I've tried lowering the volume but it still seems to be doing it. Not to mention, even with the audio turned all the way up it's hard to hear the people I'm talking to.

I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

In the marketplace I saw a cool windows 7 theme but it said...(the app is by "diceman4") I need another app from the market but when I look for that app I can't find it. Overall VERY good despite the posts I've read. Very intuitive UI but I could see where some mods would be sweet. EXCELLENT GPS performance; 15-30 sec fixes INDOORS with 5-10m accuracy w/out WiFi. My BJII was never this good. Excellent You Tube performance WITH HQ playback. 8GB SDHC works flawlessly, My only suck is phone contacts transfer from WM6. BTW - bod was 7/22/10. Now on to the Market, sideloading and may be root.

1)Has anyone found a way to change which picture is displayed for a linked contact? On the HTC Aria, you could choose whether you wanted the picture from Gmail or the one from Facebook.
2)Has anyone found a way to change the displayed name in Contacts. Again, on the HTC Aria, you could pick whether to display the name from your Gmail contact or the one from the Facebook contact.
Has anyone been able to get their contacts to sync with their facebook profile picture? I finally got the account synced or so it says, and if Im in contacts and click on the far right tab I can see everyone's status but none of the facebook profile pics have been applied.

I have tried to sync my contacts and FB together (not all of my FB contacts as I have 500+) but just the main people I talk to on a regular basis and it has created duplicate entries in my contact list. I know this not an operating hinderance to the phone but it is just annoying.
What is the point of syncing when it just created more entries? It also has duplicates in the drop down to: part when I create a new text message. Should I take all of my contacts off my SIM and copy them to the phone? Is there a way to have one entry for my contacts including the FB pic? I am importing my contacts from hotmail to gmail now and hoping this might help.
I have applied my photos to my contacts. My only issue is the image size. I need a full or half screen image, rather then the thumbnail (1x1). Can this be fixed as is, or do I need an app for that?

But I've been trying to assign an individual ringtone to my wife's number (she doesn't care for "Secret Prayer" by Joe Satriani, suggested something by ABBA, and is lucky she isn't getting "Scolding Wife" by Great Big Sea) but I haven't had any luck.
