Aug 31, 2010I just saw my first review on the Epic for Sprint and saw that it has an LED flash and an LED indicator for missing calls, etc. Why would Samsung give Sprint users a better phone than us? I sure would have liked the LED's on my captivate. Man that makes me upset. Why wouldn't they have all the same features on every phone in the Galaxy series.

Sep 10, 2010I have noticed that the battery meter on my captivate (SRE + lagfix installed) is very inaccurate. For instance, I got the low battery notification and plugged my phone in when it got to 8%. However, the second I plug my phone in the battery meter jumps to 34. I unplugged it and sure enough, the battery stayed at 34%. Anyone having this problem?

Jul 9, 2010i dropped my moment in the toilet (yea gross), grabbed the phone a second after and took it apart, etc etc did the rice trick, it shows a screen that says its charging when i plug it in but it still doesnt turn on what color is the battery water indicator supposed to be? i've read that red means it got wet, mine is white, but my friend showed me his battery indicator and it was white with red spots. he said that's what it's supposed to look like on a working battery (his isn't an android phone though) ps. dont worry i had already flushed when i dropped it

Nov 12, 2010Got a UK purchased unlocked Galaxy S, which I'm using in mainland China on China Mobile with a China Mobile SIM. On the screen the roaming R indicator is on, by the signal strength. And going into the about the phone options does indeed indicate that it is roaming internationally, when in fact it's not, because of the China Mobile SIM working on that network. When I was using the phone in Hong Kong, I was using a 3 Hong Kong SIM and the Galaxy didn't indicate it was roaming at all. It did however show the R roaming indicator when I entered mainland China, Where the 3 HK SIM was working on the mainland Chinese networks, both China Mobile and China Unicom. It should not be showing roaming R though when it's using a China Mobile SIM on it's own network though, but it is. I've also tried the SIM in another phone, and this does not show it's roaming at all. Only when the SIM is in the Galaxy? The phone does dire warnings about incurring large data bills for data roaming, when it's not in fact data roaming.

On my old Windows Mobile phone I had an application(abcPowerMeter) which could show the current power consumption of the phone. Like this: If we can get this on the Galaxy, then it can be coupled with the existing battery status information to give a pretty good estimate of how long the battery is going to last under current load.Instead of showing a notoriously unreliable and counterintuitive green bar the phone would show something like this in the tray.

Mar 3, 2010Stock battery indicator in the status bar was bugging me, since it was constantly showing more charge than all other battery apps (widgets, Spare Parts). After looking in
/system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable/stat_sys_battery.xml
I could see that Samsung changed battery level thresholds compared to other Android releases (sources found on net). I have made a mod which changes the levels to the ones in the right column (source). Tested only on this 1.6 firmware: Baseband version I7500XXJB2, Build number Donut.XXJB6. Do not change /system/framework/framework-res.apk directly, the phone might not boot if it is not signed again after changing! Make all necessary backups!
You will need Metamorph to apply it, but since we have only 1.21 MB available on /system partition with this firmware, we will have to move Maps.apk to /data/app. The procedure (if you are not sure what each step does, do not proceed):
1. root the phone
2. copy busybox to /data/local/bin and give it execute permissions
3. install Metamorph from the Market
4. mount /system as RW (via "Root explorer", for example)
5. Run Metamorph. It will check for necessary files, and copy zip to /system/bin/zip. You can move it to /data/local/bin/zip to save some space on /system, and create symlink with this: ln -s /data/local/bin/zip /system/bin/zip
6. copy attached Galaxy-BatteryFix-v1.0.zip to /sdcard/AndroidThemes
7. move /system/app/Maps.apk to /data/app. It seems that Maps work fine from that location, after reboot.
8. apply theme from Metamorph
9. reboot
If you have problems with Metamorph and copying zip app, run this command:
ln -s /data/local/bin/busybox /system/bin/cp (after renaming /system/bin/cp to cp.old).
To restore the original, use Galaxy-BatteryFixRestore-v1.0.zip.
Samsung I7500 :: Battery Percentage Indicator Gone
Sep 2, 2009I seem to have disabled the battery percentage indicator that was previously displayed while the phone was charging. It used to say '95%. Charging' and now it says only 'Charging'. Does anyone know how to bring the percentage back? I have the H7 firmware.

Oct 28, 2010Lately I've had a problem with the Battery in my Desire.When I charge it, the fist 10-20-30% of my battery just drains in no time. Like this morning, it was fully charged when i left home, and i have around 15 minutes to work.The phone was just laying there while i drove, and when I got here it was already down to 94%.I looked through my calendar, and then it was down to about 90%.It's been an hour since then, I've only used it for a few texts, and now I'm down to 79% battery left.With the kind of use I've had today, my phone would normally be around 98% at this point.There should be nothing running in the background, and no other syncing than a bare minimum.Spare parts tells me there's been basically no use.Trafficstats doesn't show any unusual traffic.It's like the battery is just draining itself for no reason.Been like this for over a week now.Any ideas to what I should do?

I know it lights up and makes a sound when a new message comes, but afterwards there is no way to find out without pressing the middle button or the side unlock button.
I am so used to having a blinking LED message indicator in my previous nokia, I think it�s a really nice feature, because you can know just by looking at the phone without even touching it, very handy at night or when your phone is out of reach. I�m really going to miss that feature.

Jun 11, 2010Today was the first time I ever took the phone out of its case and removed the back cover, its been in a case 24/7 since I got it. I noticed the water damage indicator is white with a pink "checkerboard-type" pattern throughout it. Does this mean when the BB employee put the Zagg cover on with the water that he turned this pink therefore indicating water damage? If so I am going to be upset and what do I do about it? It's not like I can go back to BB now and claim they damaged it, but how can I prove I didnt expose it to water myself (I didnt, I am exceptionally careful with my phones). My phone works completely fine so no problems now but you never know in the future. Any advice?
