View 20 RepliesGot a UK purchased unlocked Galaxy S, which I'm using in mainland China on China Mobile with a China Mobile SIM. On the screen the roaming R indicator is on, by the signal strength. And going into the about the phone options does indeed indicate that it is roaming internationally, when in fact it's not, because of the China Mobile SIM working on that network. When I was using the phone in Hong Kong, I was using a 3 Hong Kong SIM and the Galaxy didn't indicate it was roaming at all. It did however show the R roaming indicator when I entered mainland China, Where the 3 HK SIM was working on the mainland Chinese networks, both China Mobile and China Unicom. It should not be showing roaming R though when it's using a China Mobile SIM on it's own network though, but it is. I've also tried the SIM in another phone, and this does not show it's roaming at all. Only when the SIM is in the Galaxy? The phone does dire warnings about incurring large data bills for data roaming, when it's not in fact data roaming.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know if there is a way to make Galaxy S light up the menu, back button or the screen periodically to notify the presence of an unread message when the screen is off/locked?
I know it lights up and makes a sound when a new message comes, but afterwards there is no way to find out without pressing the middle button or the side unlock button.
I am so used to having a blinking LED message indicator in my previous nokia, I think its a really nice feature, because you can know just by looking at the phone without even touching it, very handy at night or when your phone is out of reach. Im really going to miss that feature.
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S Advance (I9070), upgraded it to Jelly Bean, and rooted it.
Now, I notice there is no indicator light?
Is this a software glitch I have introduced, or is it true...
does the droid charge have indicator lights and if so how do you make them active
View 1 Replies View RelatedA random warning message occassionally pops up on my samsung galaxy fascinate. It says: "Warning: Battery is losing charge too fast. Tap here to download and fix now". At the top of my phone, on the status bar, there is a small icon of a red battery with a line through it. How did I start getting this notification and how do I get rid of it? It's like a spyware or something, I think.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI could swear that I've seen a forum for this somewhere around here, but after 30 minutes of searching, I can't find it. What I'd like to do is completely disable any notifications showing that the charge is complete. Reason being, I use Bedside and at roughly 2am the notification closes bedside and lights my screen up until I acknowledge it. Then I have to close it, re-open bedside and I'm back in business. Anybody know a way to just turn that notification off all together?

Is there any cheap way to fix the charging port? I read to try to clean it out and I am going to try to do that but in case that back fires, anything that has worked?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a hidden setting somewhere where I can tell the phone not to charge when I plug in the USB data cable? So, please charge when I plug in the power adapter, but please don't charge when I plug in the USB data cable. The reason I'm asking is because with all of experimenting I'm doing, trying to get my USB PC to phone connection working, my battery is being overcharged. Yes overcharged to the extent that the phone has even popped up a message once or twice telling me to disconnect, that the battery is fully charged.

But the notification colors are white letters and the bar is black with a white spot behind the clock. Would anyone want me to upload this? Also it has the battery mod (Just like the one in NoTwiz),

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have had my Samsung Galaxy S for just over a week now and have almost got to grips with it!
One thing that is annoying me and that I can't seem to change is the call waiting option. I have set up my own call options and they work fine - what I am having problems with is when I call someone who is already on a call - my phone does not tell me that I am waiting. I have always had this with my other phones without having to set up or do anything - how do I manage this on teh Samsung Galaxy S? I am with Vodafine and have Android 2.2 Froyo.
Is there such a thing as an app that plays a custom notification sound (mp3) chosen at random from a group of sounds? For example, if I have several different mp3 sound bytes of different people saying "You've got mail", is there an app that will randomly choose one of those sounds to play whenever I get mail?
(I've got a great notification mp3 right now but I could see it getting annoying to hear over and over again, so I'd love it if it was different from time to time)
1. After closing a call i get options to either call again or sms. its annoying, is it possible to remove it?
2. How do i update to 2.2 when it becomes official? does it have to be through a pc? i see no option in my phone to update.
My voicemail costs me a small fortune to listen to so I hardly bother. But My Samsung S keeps the notification at the top until I listen to the damn thing Any help in getting rid without having to listen to VM ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new to Android and have the following problem: When I get a sms I get a notification in the upper bar. I scroll down the bar and access the sms by clicking on it. Now I can read the incoming sms in the bubble but the notification does not go away. I have to click on the bubble to get the complete sms (even if its only a short text) so the notification goes away.
I think this is really stupid that I have to actually click on the bubble (even if I already can read the whole text) so the notification goes away.
In other words: I want it to act the same way as the iPhone. Is there any way?
I recently updated to Android 4.4 and have encountered a problem with setting custom notification sounds.
Every time I want to set a custom notification I get this list of Samsung sounds to choose from, instead of being asked, for instance, where I want to find the sound.
My friend, who has an LG G2 running Android 4.3 gets the following when he clicks on notification sound in Whatsapp:
Whereas I get this:
I then thought to install an app that controls all notification sounds, kind of like Lightflow does notification LEDs. I found MegaSound and tried that. Gave it permission, went in, tried to set a custom notification sound for Whatsapp and was shown the same list to choose from.
Before I updated I was able to choose a wma/mp3 sound from my files on my phone to use.
I was in a meeting and set the phone to vibration mode via the notification panel. I noticed that the phone will only vibrate if a call comes in, but not SMS. Is this correct? Cause in my previous phone, so long as I am in vibration mode, every event (call, SMS, reminder, email etc) will cause the phone to vibrate.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe "USB Connected" notification stays on after the USB is disconnected, there's no way to evict it other than a reboot but now will reboot only if USB is reconnected to PC or Charger.I was so pleased by my new Galaxy S cell 3 days ago after a week of exploring and managing to get the best carrier and plan for this bright Samsung Smartphone. Then, the day after it lockup, but removing the battery for few seconds then replacing it back fixed that problem for that day. The following day been great too up the second lockup at night and this time, removing temporarily the battery did not permit to have the cell working anymore. So today I have been trying all day to determine under what condition these lockups occur. During those tests, I've first determined that during charging or during USB PC connection, I could repower up the Galaxy S. Then the cell could work for long period of time if connected to USB PC or power supply, but when I remove the USB cable, the firmware fail to detect that there is no more USB connection and start to flash every couple of seconds the message "USB connected" replacing the status bar at the top of the screen.
Then after several minutes, the cell freeze, and only by removing for few seconds the battery and then plugging the charger again, will permit to successfully power up the phone.I have of course made a Hard Reset to Factory Default, to no avail, during those tests. I think it's a hardware malfunctioning around the USB Port section. The connector look good seen with loop and both USB cable seem ok.If it's corrected by an update, I wonder if I'll be able to re-flash under this condition.
I woke up to find I had received a text message on my Galaxy S. So, I looked in the notification bar and it said the message was from my brother. I opened my 'Messages' inbox by clicking the Messages icon. At the top of the screen it showed that the message was from my mate Doug, not my brother. So, I opened the actual message by selecting it from my message inbox and it showed that it was actually from my mate Charlie
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhat's the status on this issue? Many of the Samsung Galaxy S phones come with a beautiful array of soft keys with LEDs that are dieing to be used as notification lights as well. For example, the T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant has 4 soft keys (menu, home, back, search). I would like to be able to set the menu key to light up at an interval of 3 seconds within the first hour of receiving a text message and light up at an interval of 5 seconds or more after the first hour of receiving a text message. Has Samsung released the necessary API? Or does Google have control over this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've spent days searching this forum (and the whole web) for a solution to this, but haven't found anything yet. Starting to wonder if it's possible. I've changed my ringtones on my Galaxy S to different custom MP3's for various contact groups. No problem there. I've changed my 'notification' sound to a custom mp3 from the settings/sounds menu. No problem there. But there calendar still plays the standard sound (I think it's called 'on time' in the Samsung sounds list) and I can't find anywhere to change it. At first I thought the calendar would've used the notification sound, but it never changes... so then I thought maybe you change it from within the calendar itself.
