Samsung Captivate :: Instant Message - Change Icons With Different Icons
Nov 25, 2010I notice that the home screen is customizable but not the four applications on the bottom, the call, email, browser and applications. How would I change those icons with different icons? Mainly the email and browser. How do I turn off or at least severly limit the data that goes to and from my phone. I do not have wireless and am just a bit paranoid about going over my data limit. I got the phone from work and this is my first smartphone so I am a bit nervous about anything I do on it.

Jun 30, 2010I have tried using Better Cut and Folder Organiser in order to change the icons on my HTC Desire. However, when I try and do this for Messaging, Email or People application, it always reverts back to the standard HTC icon.
How have other people got round this? Or is this just a problem I am experiencing? I am un-rooted.

Sep 30, 2010i loaded launcher pro & love it. On my dock I have: Phone, Market, App Drawer, Google Voice, & Browser. I installed a different browser - dolphin - then assigned it to my browser shortcut. I didn't really care for it so I uninstalled it. However, I can't change the shortcut in LP to my original browser. When I bring up shortcuts, there's not a listing for it.

I'm planning on sticking with TWiz, and since I've never actually used it, I'm curious if anyone can help with some tips. 1. The icon shortcut layout is annoying. I don't like how they won't snap to a grid, and can overlap and be all over the place. Is there a way to change this? 2. That silly Quick List? Is that just another useless app window with recently used apps, or can it be edited to list apps I want in there? I'm not looking for home replacement apps because I've tried them all, and I'm just looking to get by for the next few weeks.

Sep 11, 2010I'm using Launcher pro, and at random times, I go to the home screen to see all the icons missing. The dock's still there, but yeah. Only way to fix this would be to restart Launcher Pro, after which I'll have to wait around 30 seconds to even a minute at time for everything to come back. Is there some fix to this/maybe better alternative for launcher/quicker way to get the icons back...?

Nov 19, 2010Up in the lefthand corner. They are just sitting there. The media scanner says it's been running since 1:56 -that's 1:56 Monday afternoon, nearly a week.
Concurrently, I've noticed a significant drop in battery life. I don't know if the two are related but I do know that those little icons are annoying.

Nov 24, 2010I got AT&T Samsung Captivate i897 (2.1 Eclair). I unlocked and rooted my phone. I was using simple free phone earlier which doesn't require data plan but after two weeks I bought samsung captivate, AT&T added $25 data plan. I got my phone from AT&T store where my friend works so he took my data plan out of the plan for now but he said they will find out and add into your plan again. Also, He said that they recognize by your IMEI number. My question is: Is there anyway I can change my IMEI number? I was thinking to use my simple free Nokia phone's IMEI number and use it for Samsung Captivate so AT&T thinks that I am using Nokia phone.

HTC Desire :: Removing Shortcut Labels From Icons
Sep 7, 2010I've been having fun customizing the look of my phone and getting more and more out of it. Recently I've been making custom shortcuts as I like having different icons. What I don't like is that there's a label on the Icon. The icon pack I am currently using is Manups Simple Word. What happens is when I create a Shortcut to the market for example the Icon shows in text Market Stock and then beneath it the Label Market. I don't like that if read together it becomes Market Stock Market
Is there a way I can remove the labels from shortcuts? I am currently running Froyo with LauncherPro using folder organizer and I also have anycut. The solution must not involve rooting or using any paid apps as well I can't get paid apps here. I read here Is it possible to strip HTC Sense UI from the HTC Desire? that Helix has the option to remove labels from shortcuts. I'll rather not move to Helix and stay with launcherpro.
