View 2 RepliesHow do you change the four icons at the bottom of the screen (by default, Phone, Contacts, Messaging, and Applications).I seem to recall only the middle two can be changed, but I can't remember how to do it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out how to change the icons at the bottom of the screen but I'm failing miserably at it...or I'm beginning to think that it's just not possible?
Specifically I'm wanting to change the Messaging icon out to be the one for Handcent (or any other messaging icon other than stock). Yes, I realize I can set it to point to use Handcent by default, but when you initially open it, it doesn't start to use Handcent initially, only once you go into conversations does it start to use the Handcent application.
Is there a way to do this like there is on the other Galaxy devices or is this completely locked down on the Epic and I need to download another UI in order to change this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI notice that the home screen is customizable but not the four applications on the bottom, the call, email, browser and applications. How would I change those icons with different icons? Mainly the email and browser. How do I turn off or at least severly limit the data that goes to and from my phone. I do not have wireless and am just a bit paranoid about going over my data limit. I got the phone from work and this is my first smartphone so I am a bit nervous about anything I do on it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedGo into applications and edit (like it says). But then it doesnt allow me to drag one of the bottom 4 icons.
I'm on Orange in the UK BTW. Just wondering if its a special version with this disabled.
Randomly, when actively doing stuff on the phone, I go to white lines running from the top of the phone to the bottom when the screen was in portrait position. There were two of them on the right side, each line being a couple pixels in width, separated by a few pixels of normal screen. It lasted for a few seconds, and then the screen reset itself. It's only happened once or twice, but it should happen at all with such an expensive phone and nice screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedOnce a day my phone freezes to the point that the bottom buttons are non-responsive. The only fix is to reboot.Any ideas? There's no pattern - it can happen as I'm actively using the phone or as I start to use it after it's been idle for an hour.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Fascinate and LauncherPro (free).I've dropped shortcuts (by long pressing home screen, add shortcut) to my favorite Apps around the home screens.Well, after a reboot the shortcut custom/built-in icons 'disappear.' They become stock android icons. After some troubleshooting, I noticed that if I open up the [place where all the apps are stored] and long press dragged them to the home screen I want, they will retain the proper icon after reboot.

For those with the Samsung Captivate, are you able to change the applications that are on the bottom tool bar? I could see switching out the native mail app and putting in the gmail app on that tool bar. Is this possible?

View 11 Replies View RelatedIf you don't like the lockscreen, there is one other lockscreen that comes standard with the phone. You can change it in the Display settings. It's called Glass Screen. Basically, you just swipe anywhere on the display from left or right and it'll unlock.
View 10 Replies View RelatedOn the button of my home screen I have 4 main icons Even if you switch to another screen those 4 stay on the bottom of the screen.
How can I change those icons to different programs?
Not sure where the issue lies, with Android itself or launcher pro, but I have a strange issue where the icons on the bottom row of my home screen are out of alignment.
The two on the left, SMS and Mail, are widget icons for counters and the two on the right are direct app launchers, but yesterday they stared to show out of alignment.
I just got this phone last week and I absolutely love it. I came from a blackberry and of course I was used to unlocking my phone with a PIN instead of the pattern (1st android owned) that this phone has. I was wondering if there is a way to have that option in my SF. I hate the pattern, I checked out the market and there is an app for that but the reviews were horrible. If this is even possible on this phone yet or I have to wait on the upcoming 2.2 update and yes my phone is not rooted.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI bit the bullet today and got a Fascinate. When I was playing around with the Captivate at the store I noticed the shortcuts when you pull down the notification bar, the ones at the store were silent, vib only, etc.
Now that I'm playing around with the Fascinate I find that its shorcuts are BT, WiFi, etc. Is there a way to change the shortcuts that are displayed when you pull down the notification bar? I can't seem to figure out how to do it.
I know on my old BB I could change the times when I get alerts. For example, I don't want my phone beeping at me when I get an e-mail at 3 a.m. On my BB I could set those alerts to be active say from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. So far, I haven't been able to find out how to do that on the Fascinate.
