So I may have "accidentally" deleted my stock email app during my overzealous purge of bloatware. Does anyone know if I can find the apk for the stock email to reload it? Would that even work? I'd rather not reflash the whole thing for just an email app.

I have used the stock email app, and setup four email accounts on my Samsung Captivate. For what is now the second time, I had my email where I can view titles, it updates to show me new email titles, and I can even delete emails. My issue is that I have gotten into the mode where the email app dies when I try to view an individual email. Both AT&T and Samsung support has been the scripted delete an account then try to remake the account. no difference? Well then let's reset the phone.. Now at the second time this has occurred, I am starting to get frustrated with the phone (I really do love the phone otherwise).
The first time it happened, I first had all of my accounts wiped out. After reinputting them, it took a day for the crashes to happen. After resetting the phone and redownloading most of my apps, it took three days for it to start crashing again. The only "out of the ordinary" thing I did the second time was update four pieces of software ("Google Maps", "Dominoes", "Buffaloian", and one other one I cannot remember). The next morning, my mail crashing restarted again.
When i receive an email that has a link there are parts of the link that are not click-able. Any way to fix this ?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was able to successfully configure the stock email app on my android phone (Samsung Captivate). However when I went to "Email check frequency" in the settings to enable push, it did not allow me to do so. According to Android, there is an option in this setting called "Automatic (push)" other than polling options. In my case I just had polling options like "5 mts", "10 mts", "Never", and so on. But I don't have the "automatic push" option!
I checked in with my system admin. He said that they have enabled push from their end. In fact, we are on the corporate email of Google apps. So it is like a gmail except that it has my corporate email address. So this should have been a piece of cake, no?
Are there any browsers other than the stock JB browser that don't constantly reload or refresh the pages when you multitask? I imagine I want one that stays persistent in memory. I've had problems with Boat Browser, and Firefox has issues with zooming that drive me nuts. Opera hasn't updated their UK for high PPI devices, so the buttons are too small. I also have this aversion against cloud based browsers.

I have set up email accounts connecting to a google-hosted email account via IMAP. I am finding that when replying to a received email, my reply goes out with redundant repetitions of the email address on the "to" line. Example: Email from soandso@gmail.com arrives. I click "reply" on the phone and the reply goes out to soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com etc etc *10 times*, instead of just once. It also copies me about 10 times! Is anybody else seeing this? I use this for work emails, so it looks very unprofessional like I am trying to spam my clients! I have another couple of days before my 30-day return period is up, so hopefully someone else know how to fix this. Is there some setting I am overlooking?

When I use the default email client from captivate, even when I set the checking period as every 10mins, I won't get new emails unless I open the app and manually refresh, well, except the one of gmail. This happens on my yahoo email, hotmail and my school email, which all worked fine on my old iphone. People have talked about yahoo mails won't be accessible through wifi from Android, which happens on mine too. But even when I was at 3G, the email client won't auto check it either. I have tried K9 email client, it doesn't work either. The only thing I find work is the MailDriod, but the function of this app is very limited, it won't even open attachments by default. Does anyone else here have the same problem, or maybe an idea to fix the default email client?Also, I find when I use the ear set make calls, when I try to click the button on the ear set, it won't hang up the call as my iphone would. Is this a bug or just something Andriod can't do? The button on the ear set seems quite useless with Captivate, it can only control to play or pause by single click when play music, won't do song change when doule click it.

I'm curious if it works because it synced so well to my work email, while the Galaxy stock email does not. I'm willing to try it out if anyone has the apk. I forgot to grab it before I flashed the rom and I don't want to have to re-flash to TouchWiz, grab it, and re-flash back to 1.6, especially if doesn't even work.
Also, if anyone's interested, here's a link to an Exchange email app that I got to work on the 1.6 rom, but it's not as feature rich. Exchange ActiveSync on your G1! | Nexeo.net. Pre-apologies if anyone has a problem with providing a system apk. But I did pay like $250 for this phone. Please just PM me then.

Now every time I try to send an email out or reply to an email the app just freezes and the screen goes black and then when you press the power button it takes me back to the lock screen and you can't swipe to unlock for about a few seconds. then I get a message that the app is not responding. My question is, since I flashed the csc and kernel, how do I flash back to the stock JF6 rom that came with the phone? Just the pit and .tar (pda)? I have the firmware and the pit file.. just wondering what is entailed because of flashing the additional csc and kernel files as well.

I am really digging this phone and have no intentions of going back ever. I moved from an iphone to android and so far the os does not seem as intuitive as the iphone?
