My phone keeps shuting off and its getting old but my gps seems to work fine. I rooted the phone and removed atts bloatware, i need to return it for another captivate. How do i get atts bloatware back or does it even matter?

I rooted my Captivate tonight and I know how the superuser icon with android skull and crossbones. However neither Super Manager or ASTRO will allow me to uninstall the crap ware on my phone. Is there something I'm missing? I followed all the steps at XDA. So far I've tried to remove YPMobile, ATT Navigator, and ATT Maps. Any suggestions? I tried searching this on google and this forum but didn't come up with anything.

Maybe get my phone back to factory state if I want to? No, I didn't make a backup file. I now, stupid of me. But if anyone else did, in theory shouldn't it be possible for me just to download that file and then "restore" the phone back to factory state?

View 22 Replies View RelatedI've rooted my phone and used TitaniumBackup to remove the AT&T bloatware. I've also configured it for sideloading apps so I could load the SiriusXM app from their website. Of course - now I can't get the OTA update. I just get the error where it says it's downloading, restarts the phone, says it's installing then reboots the phone again and says the update failed.
Maybe the OTA update is trying to update one of the bloatware apps and that's why it's failing? Or would removing the Superuser app (unrooting) and Busybox be enough to get the update?
Either way - because I deleted the apps using TitaniumBackup I have no backup (I know, I'm an idiot). I thought I did a TB backup before removing the apps but I have no idea where to look to restore them. They aren't listed in the app list when I click on Backup/Restore.
When custom roms come out for the Captivate will this be able to make it where it is bloatfree from AT&T and have custom things being able to add any apk app without doing the sideloading stuff ect? I am wondering if custom ROMs will make it where we can do whatever we want without AT&T restrictions.

I only deleted 'ATT Family Maps' for now until I can figure out how to reinstall things, incase I have a problem later and need to go back to ATT. I clicked 'backup' before i deleted it. But I don't know what buttons to press to get stuff back from the backup.

Ive just successfully rooted my x10i, Ive installed titanium backup - all ok. But im attempting to unistall all the vodafone branded "crap" e.g: 360 shop, 360 web.I tap uninstall on titanium backup, and it just hangs there! Ive let it carry on, But ive been waiting around 30mins now for 1 app to uninstall.... which is still saying "Un-installing: "web 1.0" - which is 360 web.It hasn't frooze as there is a icon spinning to the left of the text.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I rooted a little while back & have only been having problems. For whatever reason, the only rom I can get to work is Fresh 2.3. I've tried installing CM1, the nightlies, both the blue & vanilla themed version, and darchroid 2.8. I couldn't even get CM1 and darchroid 2.8 to get past the white htc screen. Is there any way I can get back to stock 2.1 and unroot? I'm hoping if I do that and try rooting again then maybe things will work. Also, is there any way to delete all the bloatware on fresh 2.3? I love the performance of the rom but I can't deal with how little memory it leaves me.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've spent the last week or so retooling my launch screens with different launchers (LauncherPro Plus, Open Home, ADW) and I liked features of them all, but no one launcher had all the features I wanted and no one launcher looked completely ready for prime time. So yesterday I went back to TW, just to see what I was missing and found that I like it better than I did before. It's not on par with Sense (I had an Aria before I went to the Cap), but it's a well-executed UI with enough polish to make it look slick enough. The third party stuff was always a little janky and I had to futz with the phone to get it right. I come from a graphics background and, while I don't really dig the cartoony icons and I wish I had the option to select my own, it's a nice looking interface.

I had one paid app SystemPanel App / Task Manager and now its asking me to buy it again. Only way to fix this would be to restart Launcher Pro, after which I'll have to wait around 30 seconds to even a minute at time for everything to come back. Is there some fix to this/maybe better alternative for launcher/quicker way to get the icons back...?

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I've been tinkering around with Odin and flashing to the many firmwares floating around- the latest is the JFM6 i9000 firmware.. Which also included flashing the CSC and kernel..
My question is, since I flashed the csc and kernel, how do I flash back to the stock JF6 rom that came with the phone? Just the pit and .tar (pda)? I have the firmware and the pit file.. just wondering what is entailed because of flashing the additional csc and kernel files as well.
Anyways, I've had this phone for almost two weeks now and I love it. The only two things that have bothered me is: 1) the battery icon, it'll look like 80% when really it's 60% and 2) when I press the button sometimes I'll have to hit it a couple of times to make the back button work.

And if I ship it back today (8/22) and they don't receive it until say the 26th or 27th, can I still argue that I returned it within the return period?
I accidentally removed some needed default apps like Where and Gmail. So, I reset the phone via settings and also via boot up menu where you can install update.zip. However, resetting the phone in any way did not bring back the default software! What can I do at this point to get it back?
